    You can call it what it is, a tedder. My wife and I call it a tenderizer. However we are now going to change that to Timmerizer, as Tim is the one running it... Keep up the fantastic videos, and THANK YOU for feeding all of us in one way or another. BACON.

    Try the permathrin no ticks or mosquitos. You can buy the concentrate at most farm supply stores or Amazon. The package has dilution rates and you can treat your clothes, tents, or around your house.

    Keep doing these field comparison videos through out the year. There is nothing like video evidence to prove a point that the correct amount & type of fertilizer is profitable versus too little or too much

    • @ih1206
      @ih1206 Před 7 lety +1

      KCautodoctor Couldn't agree more. It makes for some good educational material. We usually don't fertilizer our hay ground, it's usually a cover crop that gets thrown in with the fertilizer for the wheat in the spring. Usually we don't keep the fields in hay for too long.

    just doing a little math which I am bad at. 3.5 tons to the acre plus another 1.5 tons second cut times 5,000 approximate acres equals 25,000 tones. you can haul 32 tones a load equals 780 loads. that is 2 trucks running 1 load a day at least. maybe Tim as a second driver?

  • @MEJB7
    @MEJB7 Před 7 lety

    I don't think anyone doubts the effectiveness of fertilizer, its finding that sweet spot that is tricky. If you did 25% less fertilizer to the acre, you might only get 10% less yield. Or you may get 20% less. You got to weigh out your options and prices

    Hi West I live 20 minutes from where you purchase you tractors at Sharmans at Grantham you say your running the pto on a 540 shaft on economy, why don't you select 1000 still with the 540 shaft and drop the revs even more I think about 1200 will still give you 540 at the shaft

Do you find there quite a difference on crop yield by leaving more stubble on all grasses or just with the Orchard ?

    Someone enlighten me please. I believe I'm right that the 'regrowth' doesn't do well at all under the windrow. Would it be better for regrowth production if Wes went immediately through the field after the mowing and spread out the windrows? It just seems that the grass under the windrow cut off from the sun would almost remain dormant until the cut grass is taken away. Hope that made sense.

    • @michaelbrown8545
      @michaelbrown8545 Před 7 lety

      jbmbanter Yep because he had rain comin the day he mowed it he left it in windrows for the rain to run off and the wind to get up into the row. Wes rolled the dice a bit with this 1st cut, to much rain and he would have lost the crop, but because it is mulch hay he has a bit more wiggle room with moisture and the hay decomposing.

    I am only speaking for myself. I grew up on a farm. i know what fertilizer does. I am more interested in seeing the 8530 on the baler. Your first impressions of using the 8530 on the baler. What features on the 8530 are better while baling. What features do u miss on the 8530 that the other tractor has, if any. Details about the difference between the 2 tractors and ultimately, was upgrading to the 8530 worth it. Thank You ! and have a good day.

      PTO shaft bent? Are you talking about the accident last year with the wood piece? That shaft bent because of the machine jamming during full operation. It was repaired and the baler continued it's fine operation. Is there another bent shaft you know of? Perhaps you are psychic or a time traveler. Better let Wes know so he can be prepared!
