- Definitely my favorite dress BY FAR. Just need to find a cute sunflower field to prance around in now.
My version is a little different from the original but you can make the original with these steps too! I made this for 5% of the price (yes, I did the math) so you are definitely saving some coin doing it yourself!
p.s. I’m sorry if the quality is a little off I swear it was fine but then got worse once the video uploaded. Your girl is TRYING we can't all be ashley from bestdressed
EDIT: I just watched this video for the first time since uploading it...and WOW it is not great (especially the audio at the beginning, I am so sorry for your ears) THANK YOU FOR STILL WATCHING! I promise I’ll work on making these videos better and more thorough :)

imagine someone asking her, "hey where did you get this dress" and her being like " I Made it", how cool is that!!?
Then they go "can you make one for me?"
....🤦♀️
@@sanskritimittal5850 Then when they ask to pay they hit you with the “But I’m your friend it’s just a favor” 🤦🏻♀️
They'll ask for making same dress to them for free of cost 🥺
you all prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know a trick to log back into an instagram account..?
I somehow lost the password. I would love any help you can give me.
@Jeremias Miguel instablaster =)
I love the fact that she made mistakes because if she didn't I would think that I always have to make it perfect the first time bc I would literally die
OMG I tried to do a project without making ANY mistakes because I was like “okay I got this whole process figured out it’ll be perfect”... ended up making mistakes anyways 😐 you just gotta ~embrace~ the process mistakes and all 🤩🤩🤩
@@AnikaSews I love that you decided to include the mistakes in the video. It defo makes a lot of people feel less anxious about making mistakes and shows that you don’t have to make everything perfect the first time around cos your end result was amazing 👏🏽👏🏽
YESSS that’s so true the mistakes are an important part of the process!! ❤️
I felt the same. And i like your vibe
@@AnikaSews that's the true sewing experience. This was actually the first vid I've seen of sewing, where all the errors, and mishaps weren't just edited out or noted afterwards XD
Makes for more of an authentic experience. Dress looks amazing btw, may attempt XD
"we can't all be ashley from bestdressed" mA'AM
👀👀👀 she’s got top notch videos I’m just trying to get remotely close to that level HAHA
@@AnikaSews if it's any consolation you beat her to making a well fitting garment from scratch! well done
Hahaha I watched that video of hers! Thank you so much ❤️
@@AnikaSews yo what fabric did you use?
I got this fabric from the challis section of my fabric store! Challis is a pretty wide category that has a lot of smaller categories under it like satin, georgette, and chiffon. I think my fabric is close to georgette but a little rougher and completely opaque (georgette is typically transparent) but unfortunately I don’t know the specific name 😞 the best thing to do though is to go to your fabric store and look at the fabrics in person!
Finally!? A sewing tutorial where someone actually shows that they messed up!! Honestly that made it so much easier
Wow thank you! ❤️ I really didn’t even think about that I just thought since it’s a part of the process I should film it but I’m so happy that people find it helpful 🥺
You made mistakes whilst sewing a dress. I've never done that. Said. No sewer ever. I personally learn more from my sewing mistakes, so it's so good that you left them in.
I just love the way you did those sleeves.
Thank you so much! The sleeves are my favorite part of this dress! You can’t avoid sewing mistakes so I’m keeping it real!!!
My mum sewing: "Measure twice cut once"
My dad building stuff: "Meaure twice cut once"
Us: "that looks super simple. I think I can free hand it... Oops... "
LITERALLY THAT’S ME HAHAHA it all works out in the end sooo 👀
I love how all these remakes of expensive dresses end up looking cuter than the originals?? Love this, only picked the video cuz the dress you made is literally adorable. Reformation who?
HAHAHAHA thank you so much for watching, you have a heart of gold for watching this very rough video 😅
I LOVE the dress, and the color of choice is lovely too.
Thank you so much! I’m in love with the color too! 💙
I’ve only just started getting into sewing during quarantine and I felt your frustration during the armhole part 😭
HAHAHA it was so frustrating that I had to make a separate pattern just for puff sleeve dresses because I knew I would forget about the armhole again 🙊 good luck with all your sewing projects!! ❤️
This is what happen when you let creativity take control...I love th statement so much..next time my husband complain about my messy sewing room,I be sure to use that..thanks a lot..
Hahaha behind every beautiful project is your creative mess! Thank you so much for watching and good luck with your sewing projects 💜
this is SO CUTE THO FR thank u T-T i want to go out and buy a sewing machine immediately
DO IT 🤩
DO IT
JUST DO IT
DID YOU DO IT?
Nike
the dress lowkey reminds me of cinderella, like what cinderella would wear to prom yk?
WOW does it really?? That’s so cute 🥺
more like modern day cinderella dress
My 4 year old niece watched this with me, and thought it looked like an Elsa dress - her highest praise!
That is the absolute sweetest thing ever, thank you so much for sharing that 🥺🥰
I love this. New creatives just run and gun and it's so inspiring. I get caught up in looking at grainlines, laying out everything to save the most fabric, and all that. It makes sewing a chore sometimes. Seeing folks just get in there and DO IT makes me smile.
That’s actually really smart! Sometimes when I’m making something complicated or I have limited fabric then I make sure to take the time to do it, but I do get impatient 😅 sometimes it’s satisfying to do all the meticulous details, but it’s also fun to just get into the project right away!!! ❤️
I love your tutorials. Sewing is always adjusting and problem solving. Recovering from mistakes and not throwing your machine out the window .
It makes me happy seeing you mess up a bit and then fix the mistakes again. Most designers I see on youtube posts this perfect process where they show they don't mess up anything at all which makes me even more reluctant to get into designing cause I know I'll mess up really bad. So thank you for showing us that making mistakes is okay as long as you don't give up ❤
This is such a beautiful dress. i honestly like it a lot more than the inspiration you used! I'm a beginner sewer and getting pretty frustrated with it but this video gave me motivation to try and make this dress! I don't have any fancy fabric but i do have cotton so we'll see how it turns out i guess lol. Thank you for this video!
That is the sweetest thing ever 🥺 I’m so glad that you’re feeling motivated to start a new project, GOOD LUCK! 💜
how did it turn out ???
@@ka-ox5wf Hey!! It actually turned out really cool! i didnt end up making the sleeves because I thought it looked really cute just strapless, idk lol. But it definitely gave me confidence to keep sewing, I had so much fun!
@@NetarespectforJews omg thats so awesome! congrats :)) 🦑🦑
I came here to learn how to do long puff sleeves so I can make my homecoming dress this year! And you definitely delivered a great tutorial 👍✨❤️
this is the first video of yours I've seen, I'm not even halfway through and I've already subscribed! You are so delightful, funny, and relatable. I appreciate the fact that you included your mistakes into the video and when I eventually attempt something like this it's gonna make me feel so much better about my inevitable mess-ups too!
AWWWW thank you so much 🥰 mistakes ALWAYS happen, I seriously have never made a single thing without a mistake 🤪 good luck on all of your projects!!
Istg literally watched your videos over and over again, it’s so calming for some reason. Thank you ! 😌❤️
AWWWW thank you so much 🥺

You are hilarious! Loved watching this, I really appreciate that you included your mistakes and how you fixed them ❤️ I am obsessed with the sleeves so I'm really glad you showed the process you used to expand them.
The most impressive part is that you accepted how it messed up many times without worring! Happens with me a lot! Thank you! ❤️
Love how she just gets frustrated and quickly finds a solution, calmly. ❤️🌺
Awwww 🥺
I love how she's not hiding the fact that she's also messing up. Thank you so much for this vid. Love the dress ❤️
THANK YOU 💜 so glad that people enjoy seeing me make mistakes it makes me less embarrassed HAHA
This video was the final thing that pushed my dream of sewing my first dress into reality! I can’t thank you enough 😊
I haven't watched the whole video yet but I'm really loving this channel! I'm so glad I found it and I'm sure this vid will be so helpful. Thank you! I completely love your vibe. I even just subscribed! I'm really excited to see more of your videos. Keep up the amazing work! ❤️❤️❤️

I love it!!! The color is sooo beautiful. Kisses from Italy ♡
THANK YOU SO MUCH 💚💚💚
If big sleeves weren’t already the style now I would MAKE them the style
LMAO ME how can you NOT love big sleeves like?? they’re so beautiful??
Omgosh' you are too precious!! I love how you mess up and own it following an amazing "FIX" I hope you know how exceptional your attitude in running into mistakes is!! I am a total fan! I am super Brand new at this. I must say! Praise God I ran across you in my search engine!! I'd love to subscribe but don't know howto do anything other than bookmark!! Again!! Wow!! You make silly little mishaps so sweet to endure.. dont ever stop being so perfectly imperfect!! So sweet.. inspired by far!! Awesome
this was the most entertaining video i have watched all day THANK YOUUU
I’m French. I’m just going crazy during quarantine and my mom actually hate me because I want to do this dress. I hope it’s going to turn great on me... 🤞 I will be so sad to not do it... And bravo 👏
Thank you so much, this dress is PERFECT for a cosplay I wanna do!! 🌹
YAY IM SO HAPPY!!! 💜
OMG
The dress looks soo simple and beautiful!
Imma try it, thank you for the tutorial sis!! 😊❤
so happy i found your channel! i love finding follow young sewers since everyone jokes about it being a grandma hobby LOL. the mishaps during the project are so relatable, the seam ripper is my best friend. definitely gonna have to make this dress.
Thank you so much!! ❤️ I DEFINITELY relate to the grandma hobby thing lol I’ve been called a grandma a couple times 🙊 good luck with your recreation!!!
i love your videos! very authentic with the trial and error. you really inspired me to continue my selft thought sewing journey. 😊 more love and power from Philippines!
ps: hope you can make a separate in depth tutorial on the bustier part 😅
Thank you gorgeous! 💜 I wish you luck on your sewing journey ☺️
A lot of people ask about the bustier so I think I might make a tutorial on that!!!
This is BEAUTIFUL. I really hope i can make one exactly like this
Thank you so much! 💙 It’s my absolute FAVORITE dress now!! I completely believe in you, I hope you have fun making it ☺️
@@AnikaSews Do you know what kind if fabric you used? Since i want it to look just as swishy😊
I went to my local fabric store and got this fabric from the “challis” section! Challis is an umbrella term so there are a lot of smaller categories under it (like georgette, satin, chiffon). I’m pretty sure this fabric is close to chiffon, but definitely on the thicker side and not transparent. I wish I knew the exact name of the fabric, but the best method for choosing fabric is going to the store and touching them to see which one you like best! ❤️
@@AnikaSews Thank you. Yes fabrics can be so confusing sometimes and like you said the best way is to feel them yourself. Xx
You are a gem!!! Love that you showed the mess ups, fixes and successes 🙂 it helps me learn along with you. Thank you very much for this video and your time!!!
AWWW THANK YOU SO MUCH 🥺
This is the first video I've watched from this channel and I'm in love with your energy. You're gorgeous ❤
I love the dress and really want to make, but I am a little confused about the bustier top. do you think you recommend a video on it? awesome video and I love your personality.
Oh my gosh thank you!! ❤️ czcams.com/video/PFW7_nLamSY/video.html this is the exact tutorial I followed to make my very own pattern! A lot of people have been asking about it, so I’m going to make a video on different methods to make the pattern and how to sew it! It’s unfortunately taking a little longer than I expected but I hope to have it out sometime soon! 💜
@@AnikaSews Hi thank you so much, and can't wait to watch more of your videos.
you: it looks like a really bad 8th grade dress
me being 8th grade: dont discourage me before i start
this was so chaotic i loved it and i also appreciated that you didn't shy away from your mistakes!
LMAO thank you so much 🥰
omg you're a genius... I've been trying all day to draft a sleeve pattern for a dress I'm making and just could NOT get it to fit right. tracing an existing sleeve is such a simple solution!! THANK YOU
This is so beautiful!!! The fabric looks so smooth, the colour is beautiful and I adore the dress! I'm adding this to my sewing projects!
Are there any projects you'd recommend for beginners ?
Thank you so much! ☺️❤️ the first thing I ever made was a pair of shorts! You can trace a pair of shorts that you already own and I recommend using elastic in your waistband! Fitted waistbands are a little complicated for beginners because of the zippers, so I only made clothing with elastic for probably a year before I got the courage to try out zippers. Good luck! 💜
0:03 looks like old fashion Pilipino style for women. it was called "classic filipiniana dress" and it was also historical for women dressing it up. when I was a kid, my parents always dress me that only cost of 3 or 4 or 5 dollars. or more then that. I always wears them in school if it was national day and it was a best best day of my life. but wearing it was embressing when I get older
Omg girllll this dress look sooo cute!! The fabric the color everything is so pretty
Ahhh thank you so much!! 🥰
i love ur channel and ur personality omg this dress snatches you look great
Ahhh thank you! 💙
Hi, I was just wondering how much fabric you needed to make the dress? 🥰 and also what kind of fabric you used? Thanks!💕
Wow that dress is beautiful I'm trying to make one similar but I don't think it'll turn out as well lol
Of course it will!!! You can do it girl ❤️
I'm so glad I found your channel because that is such an easier way to do over the shoulder elastic, so I'm finally going to make myself a poofy sleeve shirt! And I just love this on address! It's like Cinderella and jazmin's costumes combined for the cutest thing I've ever seen
I’m so glad you found me too ❤️ I wish you the best of luck with making your dress! I’ve gotten a couple comments comparing the dress to Disney princesses I think it’s the sweetest thing ever so thank you 🥺
Awwww that's so cuuute!!! 😍😍😍 10/10 would recommend wearing it on a date 😍😍😍😍
Ohhh you’re gonna blow up I can feel it! I love the dress and now I want to make one, never made a dress before though.... could I ask how much fabric you bought for it?
AHHH good luck making your very first dress! ❤️ I bought 3.25 yards and ended up using about 2.5 yards (that’s an overestimate, but it’s a good amount just to be safe)
Anika thank you! I can’t wait to get to the fabric store, I hope it goes well😁
this is the kind of dress I want for my 8th grade gradutaion and I REALLY want to make it cuz i don't want to spend a ton of money
YOU SHOULD MAKE IT!!! The best part of making clothes is the hundreds of dollars you will save!! ❤️
Girl Make it!!!!
I am a level 1 beginner seamstress and I love love love how you kept your mistakes in. It makes me feel more comfortable knowing that it happens and that’s okay. I also appreciate how you showed the mistake and then showed how it was supposed to look and how you corrected it! Thank you so much! ❤️
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this sweet message! 🥺 I’ll keep embarrassing myself on camera just for you guys 🤪
You're so funny the way you are sassy to yourself for making mistakes. I absolutely love how the dress looks. I hope to recreate this soon.
Your dress looks way better than the dress you took inspiration from.. I love when that happens lol.
When I tapped on the video I just assumed you cut the sleeves off of a normal dress and then made new ones..
It’s such good quality!
AWWWW thank you so much!!! So glad I changed it up for myself I’m so happy with the end result!!! 🥰
@@AnikaSews
You’re welcome! I think I might make something like this when I get the proper material.
I would want really big sleeves like you, lol.
YESSSS the sleeves are the best part!!! 🤩
heyy ive been searching for this look and silhouette and you did fantastic 😍, but may i ask for the bodice pattern and the sewn together part more detailed? im sorry for the fuss
No don’t be sorry!! I’m going to be making a video on different methods to create the bodice since a lot of people have been asking so I’ll cover how to sew it as well (wasn’t even thinking about the sewing part, so thank you for the suggestion!) bear with me for a little bit, your girl is busyyyy so I’ll try to get it out as soon as possible 🥰
@@AnikaSews yayy thats wonderful, thank you for your hard work, do it at your comfortable phase okayy❤️
You're so talented!! Love the sleeves on this dress
Thank you so much!! 💕
So glad I found your channel this early! In a few months when you have millions of subs I’ll be able to say I’ve been here from the beginning hahaha ❤️ love your videos ❤️
You’re so sweet!!! Thank you so much 🥺🥰
What kind of fabric is that?
What fabric did u used?
The fabric is so nice
Hi! I got this fabric from the challis section of my fabric store, but unfortunately I don’t know that exact name of the fabric since my store doesn’t label fabrics :( I do think that my fabric is similar to georgette, just thicker and not sheer (like georgette usually is). You should maybe research fabrics that fall under the challis category to see which one you would like or go to the fabric store and touch the fabrics to see which one is best! ❤️
This turned out BEAUTIFUL!!!! 👏
THANK YOU 🥰
i loved the way you explain its very clearly and easy to understand 🥰
welp, time to get a seWinG MachIne-
YES IT IS 🤩
May I ask where you've learned to sew? I haven't gotten past making scrunchies on my sewing machine because I'm afraid to mess up the fabric and waste materal :')
I learned on CZcams! I watched channels like Coolirpa, With Wendy, and Annika Victoria to learn how to sew (I didn’t attempt sewing just yet, I just watched SO MANY tutorials). Eventually the first thing I ever made was a denim skirt that I upcycled from jeans!
I definitely recommend watching tutorials before attempting sew something big; by watching so many tutorial, I just absorbed all the information until I believed I was ready to start a project. I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!! Good luck!! 🥰
Anika what fabric do u use btw??
I got this fabric from the challis section of my fabric store! Challis is a pretty wide category that has a lot of smaller categories under it like satin, georgette, and chiffon. I think my fabric is close to chiffon but a little rougher and completely opaque (chiffon is typically transparent) but unfortunately I don’t know the specific name 😞 the best thing to do though is to go to your fabric store and look at the fabrics in person!
This looks so pretty omg 😍😭😭
Thank you so much for this tutorial, after searching forever, I've finally found the exact sleeve tutorial I've been looking for, and also, you've explained the making of this sleeve, in a simple and easy way to master, You definitely understand STYLE, I'm subscribing, keep up the great videos.👌💜💜💜😀😀😀😀
Awww I’m so glad you found me!! ❤️ thank you for supporting 🥰
Hey i was wondering if you can possibly show us the pattern for the top part I really want to recreate this dress🥺
Hi there! I have a whole video explaining how to make the bodice, you can choose a method according to your skill level!! 🥰
I think the sleeves would have looked even cuter if u had made sleeves with a net fabric..
Even this is cute 😙❤️
But just wanted to give a suggestion😅
Btw which fabric is this she used did u knw ?!
I appreciate ypu showing us your mistakes
Makes it feel more relatable and realistic. Mistakes happens always. Perfect videos with no issues are discouraging when you are not a professional
im finally getting into sewing and this video is making me so excited!!! aaaa ty for posting !
Awww I love that!! Good luck with your projects!! 🥰
oh that was lovely :DD i rly don't understand a single shit you're saying but that was rly enjoyable and the final dress looked amazing on you !! :D
HAHAHA thank you for watching anyways!!! 🥰
Exactly what I need in my life. What bustier pattern did you use? I can’t seem to find any like that which would accommodate a 38” bust :((
I used the sweetheart bustier draping tutorial on Daniela Tabois’s channel (she’s super talented and good at explaining draping!) I’m working on a video to explain different methods to make the pattern, so hopefully that helps you when I get it out to you! ❤️
omg ur so pretty and funny and you explain everything so well!!! i love!!!
THANK YOU 🥰
I love ur vids to the point where i watch it over and over again everyday 😂
OH MY GOSH HAHAHA
If you ever want to sell your clothes creations, I’d totally buy them!
Awww thank you so much 🥺🥰
Question. I'm sewing my own prom dress and I designed a dress that looks like the one you made. what fabric did you use?
WOW congrats!!! Just to make sure I give you the right info, are you asking about the fabric for the prom dress that I made (which I included a pic of in my bodices video) or are you asking about the fabric I used to make this puff sleeve dress in this video?
@@AnikaSews for the puff-sleeved dress. do you have a pattern for the bustier? I'm having trouble drafting one.
I drafted my pattern on my dress form, but you can check out my most recent video to find different methods to create the bodice! I used challis for this dress, which is a very broad category and contains a lot of different categories like satin and chiffon. I think my fabric is close to georgette but I’m not exactly sure because my local fabric store doesn’t label fabrics, but you should check out your own fabric store. I think this dress would also look lovely in satin, which is what I used to create my own prom dress, or tulle! ❤️
@@AnikaSews thank you muchly!
I love how it turned out and I love the color of it!!😍 Iam planing on trying to make a dress very similar!
This turned out so well!!!! Fantastic work
Thank you!!! 🥰
What fabric did you use, please? ):
I’m pretty sure this fabric is chiffon, but it’s the type of chiffon that is thicker and not transparent (some chiffon can be REALLY see-through) if you’re looking for a fabric, you should go to your local fabric store and just touch all the fabrics to see which one feels best, that’s what I always do! 💜
It looks like crepe georgette
Time to go raid the fabric store hehehhehehe....
YES GO DO IT HAHAHA
Loved the tutorial 🙃
Now I can impress my father with all I learnt from your amazing tutorial ☺️
This dress seriously looks beautiful!!!
Thank you so much! 💚 It’s probably my favorite dress in my closet now ☺️
am i the only person who wants to buy this dress when she makes her own clothing store called Anika Designs?
Not me finally deciding to make this two months later and making the same mistake as you, then having to buy more fabric even though I'm already broke🤦♀️🤦♀️
HAHAHAHAHA
This is the most realistic sewing video I’ve ever seen. 😂 “As ye sew, so shall ye rip.” Thank you so much for sharing your process!!! You are not the only seamstress ripping and ripping and ripping 😂😂😂 the end result is lovely!!
you are so good at this oml i'm jealous and amazed at the same time
AWWW thank you so much!!! 🥰
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!! I need a dress VERY similar to this for a costume and this helped so much!! Not to mention it was the only tutorial where the person sewing a) didn't go into crazy unneeded detail b) showed where they messed up and c) didn't talk a million miles an hour-
Thanks for sharing it turned out pretty, I love the technique of pattern drafting the sleeves, thanks for your honesty, it paid off well, sewing ain't for the faint at heart, (I'm a beginner sewer, so I really know how you feel my mistakes are double 😊). Beautiful creation. Blessings.
You inspired me so much to start sewing again too. sending some love Anika!
