With all the money the MoD spent on the development of the SA80, and, then, having H&K fix the thing, they could've have suppled the entire British military with M16/M4s, AND, gotten the full tech package, with tooling to produce them.

Or adopted the AUG instead, a perfectly good 5.56 bullpup that already existed and had close to 10 years of proving itself by then.

Interestingly, if you listen to Dallas Alexander, the Canadian sniper involved in one of the world's longest kills shots (3+kms), he describes the Taccom scope 'prism' that they used. Your rifle is pointed in the air, like artillery, at those distances... but their kit allowed them to still see their target in the scope...

on the tikka (and most precision rifles in general) you absolutely want the stock lower than the barrel, or just in general low. the higher your stock is, the higher your cheekweld will have to be and the higher your optic will need to be because of that. it is drilled into so many people that you want your optic as low as possible to avoid dealing with height over bore.
    also for the prices
the sakos go for about 4-8k depending on variants and caliber you choose.
mrads go for 6-7k, snd the mk22, which is the military designated clone that barrett also sells goes for like 20k (but thats cos it comes with everything, optic, barrel replacements +)
tikkas go for sub 1k to 2k, very affordable option
and you cant buy any aics/awm/l96 rifle finished from the factory since the chassis are discontinued, you gotta build em and the chassis themselves are going for 3-5k.

My favorite wasn’t even on their list. My favorite is the Cheytac M200 Intevention, , comes with two barrels for their chamberings: .375 Cheytac and 408 Cheytac. The full kit, with both barrels and accessories goes for a little over $14,000.

Barrett now has a version of the MRAD, called the MRADELR, chambered in the Barrett .416 cartridge.

The 338 lupa has a record of 2,500 meters on target. You can typically pick up a 338 lupa rifle in the price range of 1,100$ to 3,500$, depending upon what you want. The Barrett M-Rad is in the 4,100 price range. The Sako TRG M10 cost 10,600.

Just looked up the MRAD, very surprised. Considering the last time I looked at Barret rifles they were in the 10k to 15k range.

I have some history within Long range rifles starting with the L42 and the L96. The Sako TRG's have been going for a long time, iirc some of the UK police forces were using the TRG 21 at one stage. The L115 is a bit of a beast maintaining the same kinetic energy on target as a normal.50 browning at 1Km. When it was trialled it was trialled against the Barratt M82A1 and the 12.75mm PGM Industries Hecate II. Despite the recoil of the L115 it maintained good accuracy and dependability in Kuwait where it was being tested with ambient temps of 53'C. Tikka is a manufacturer with a good hunting pedigree. As to the barrel being above the butt plate. The barrel fits into the receiver, which also has the bolt, all of this is attached to a chassis which sits below the receiver itself. Ideally the chassis runs straight back into the butt plate and the furniture at the front part of the stock doesn't contact the barrel leaving it free floating and allowing it to vibrate naturally (nothing transmitted to the firer). The bit at the rear of the stock is a grip for the hand that's not on the pistol grip or in some cases a "Butt Spike" that can be adjusted for the correct elevation. You will also hear talk of an "Adjustable Comb" which is effectively a cheekpiece that is adjustable.

You need to watch Sam and Mark after work. They are a husband and wife spotter and shooter out of Australia. The channel is all about how far each caliber can be shot on target. They have tons of shots over 3,000 meters.

I have shot the Sako, Tikka and MRAD, the Mrad was the best or my favorite. The Sako was about $10k, the Mrad was $8k or so and the Tikka was $4.5k. Out of those three, the Tikka is the best bang for ur buck. Problem is shooting out past 1500 yards, the scope is gonna cost u what the rifle does or more.

  • @KolliOllie
    @KolliOllie Před 8 dny

I actually got to shoot the rifles 1-3 in a gun event. Sako TRG (comes from the word Target) is usually chambered in the sniper's favourite, 338 Lapua Magnum. Costs about 10K pounds. The same applies for the Barrett MRAD. but both of these are multi-caliber, so the caliber can be changed with a barrel swap. The Third rifle, Tikka TAC A1 costs 1/5 of a TRG or a MRAD, so I bought one for 2000 pounds. Money well spent, it is just a fantastic and precise rifle that I shoot to a mile with a factory load of 6,5 creedmoor (Tikkas are not available for the magnum calibers such as 338).
I haven't had the change to shoot the Israeli rifle but did shoot the newer version of the British AI rifle. Very good rifle too, but it is even more expensive than the first two.

Tikka is a hunting rifle in a chassis is a great rifle
All here are UK legal to own and shoot and in the right calibres for deer hunting tho some are a little heavier than the traditional stalking gun
Prices will be high if these are targeted at military contracts
The bipods you compared are the same bipod which is a Harris .
The second was an Atlas a much more solid but heavier bipod

I've shot the A.I. as well, great gun but heavy AF. My mindset changed for my long range shooting, I prefer a high quality semi auto to bolt guns especially in 338 or 300 WM.

Nice video. What about the CheyTac M200 Intervention. Seen some videos from A-stan where it made the red mist..... If anyone have seen Shooter with Wallberg, thats the one. They engineered the bullet they wanted, and THEN build a rifle to shoot it. Crazy.. Still loves your reaction videos. Regards from Denmark. The Sako Rifle is known for there hunting rifles, they are absolutely stunning. The TRG is a great platform too but I’m not sure I would pick it due to the up-charge cause it’s from Finland.
    Sako TRG
    .308 Winchester
    .300 Winchester Magnum
    .338 Lapua Magnum
    Barret MRAD MK-22
    7.62x51
    .300 Norma Magnum
    .338 Norma Magnum
In the U.S. the Army and Special Forces look to be moving to the .300/.338 Norma Magnum I think they are possibly going to change some .50 Cal Barrett’s to .338 Norma Magnum. But it’s hard to know for sure, they make a change then they switch back to what they’ve been using. But I know the Army is looking to switch some units to weapons that give them longer range. Due to needing that in Afghanistan but they’re not fighting there anymore. So who freaking knows

you have to screen your videos for backyard stuff. i enjoy all your videos but this one was seriously lacking real and up to date info. the sako and t3x can be bought at cabelas for hunting deer. same with the extremely cheap harris copy bipods.
acouple of the rifles were actual service rifles but the others had wish accessories.
this video failed to mention the pgw timberwolf and cyote aswell as the MacMillan tac .50 which broke 3 records in the last 20 yrs. always love your videos partner. keep at it, very entertaining!
