đ Traditional Barber Shop Relaxing Straight Razor Hot Shave & Massage | Steamboat Barbershop
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 27. 10. 2019
- Relaxing wet shave experience "including aromatic hot steam towels, facial prep including pre-shave oil, shave cream, followed by hot shaving brush soap, and then your hot steam/ozone infused shave will be performed with a straight razor."
A truly relaxing experience of multiple passes, post facial moisturizer and after shave to finish. A must do for all planning a visit to Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
John uses a steamer to keep the skin and shave soap hydrated during the shave. Due to the altitude there is hardly any moisture in the air so the shave soap tends to dry out faster.

Hello everyone! John the âWanderlustâ Barber here...I wanted to help answer any questions about the shave. I completely understand what you mean about the steam machine being a bit much in the ASMR âmixâ of things. Ill try to explain why the steam is important to the client experience. I perform shaves at 7,000 feet above sea level here in the Colorado Rockies, and where I performed this service has almost no humidity at all. The air is very dry here. The moisture in the soap tends to dry up faster than when I shave clients at sea level and using a steamer with ozone helps replenish both the moisture in the soap and as well the fact that steam application of ozone has a germicide, sterilizing and anti-inflammatory effect on the freshly shaven and exposed epidermis. As a client, your comfort and experience is paramount to what I do. Its actually quite relaxing when you are in the chair by the way, and it honestly is not that loud in person. There was 5 microphones in the room which enhanced the "mix" for you (2 under the barberchair, 1 on Harry, 1 on me, 1 on the camera). With regards to what I sprayed on the towel, I like to use either Eucalyptus to invigorate the senses and open the sinuses, or Lavender, which helps relax my clients and soothes their tension. I try to be considerate of the individual client and there goals for the shave. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Lastly, its a privilege and honor to perform my craft for my clients. Without people like Harry (& Mystery Woman) the art of Traditional Barbering would not be known or even followed. Special thanks to Him (& Her). And my sincerest gratitude to ALL of you for giving me the chance to share my passion for being a barber.
đđŒđJohn the Wanderlust Barberđ
Thank you for taking the time to explain this. Personally, I see the steam machine as something unique to the experience. Finding unique barbering experiences is rather at the heart and soul of the Haircut Harry channel. I'd never really considered environmental factors before, so I learned something new.
You need to make more videos bro.
You have a nice little shop and a lot of tallent..its obvious to me you love your job..if im ever out west.....
yes more videos please!! ur amazing!!

@Onigiri Otaku Functionally for the price they are. That said your really paying for the prestige that comes with owning one, and they retain value because of this which is also nice.
Good heirlooms too if you want something nice to pass down the generations of your family.
Onigiri, really?
Iâm a barber... and this is hands down the best thing I have watched! I strive to be like you and have my shop ran like This! So smooth, professional, and old school! I feel like we are losing that and I currently run a shop alone, small, personable, homey type feel and I canât wait to get to shaves like this! Thanks for the vid!đ„
There is nothing more commendable than a person who takes pride in his craft. This was awesome. Congrats John.
This barber is a true professional.

Yes, indeed. I don't know what he charges, but it's worth every cent.
As a fellow Barber, It makes me so proud to see gentlemen like this carry on the tradition. John is a true professional and one damn good Barber. Incredible job!!đ
Hi Al - you are right, John is an amazing barber and a great person too! Thanks so much for watching and commenting đđŒ
@@christopherjames375 How do you know what he did in front of him before the camera turned on? Also, he did wash his hands, you goon. Did you even watch the video?
Al Rossi ok , but this is a huge problem when it comes
To time is money? A lot of barbershops losing money , Especially for this type of job, yâall literally get paid by person.
@@Jas_Flash92 dont worry this service must be expansive so they earn more then a regular barbershop
@@Jas_Flash92 nah, there isn't any money being lost. It's very simple, you know how long it'll take, and you price it accordingly. If a barber shop is losing money, they're either priced to high for their market and they're not getting enough business, or they're not priced high enough and they're leaving money on the table.
So at 3:58 mins in itâs 1.05pm but at 4:04 itâs 2.45pm and then it goes back to being 1.05pm... amazing barber skills AND the ability to travel time!
The Doctor Who of barbers. Or the barbershop TARDIS. Itâs bigger on the inside.
31:50 Dude comes back for a THIRD pass on the little spots that he isnt comfortable letting go without attending to. True professional. By far, the best shave I've seen on your channel. Super relaxing and the sound just needs a bit of modulation while the humidifier runs. It's fine. Excellent work John. Steamboat springs is a earmarked destination for a future road trip. A+ sir.
Thank you @BDK for the feedback. Yeah, my OCD gets the best of me everytime. I like to achieve a glass like finish on the epidermis when I am done.
Takes a keen eye and a steady hand to do what you do. I can't even shave with cartridges without nicking myself once or twice haha!
He takes his work seriously I like that.

I'd have no problem paying top dollar for this kinda shave and cut

I'd pay $50 for just the massage This Barber is a true professional
A miracle has happened, thank God there are masters in Colorado who know how to shave people properly. Bravo! Shaving strictly according to moisturized skin, hair growth, it's nice to see. At the moment, the best master of all the videos viewed.

A great job but have you watched the 75 yr. old Japanese barber video?

I completely agree with you on that đ
You can tell this guy means business. Heâs one of the top 3 best barbers weâve seen on this channel.
Please advise the other 2?

John I hope you see this. Iâve watched 100s of shaving videos and I think this is my favourite. Your attention to detail is incredible the extra steps you take to ensure satisfaction of the client is beyond words I normally donât comment but I feel you need to be praised with all the love. You can just feel the passion pouring out of your face. Keep up the good work.
This gentleman was very professional. Never seen a barber ever wash his hands before he starts. I will make it a point to visit this barber. Harry thanks for sharing this one. đ
After returning, I forgot how awesome this video and professional this barber is. This barber is the Gold Standard for his approach, dedication and high standards.
You can tell this barber takes his job very seriously, super professional
I donât normally comment but that was the most relaxing shave to watch ever. That guy John is legit!
What a professional barber. The little things matter, washing his hands before shaving you. Really like the style of his shop. I drove through Steamboat not long ago and sad I missed a chance to stop here. As always, a great video
John for me is probably one of the best in his game, he takes all the measures to ensure a great experience. Not sure how many times I watch this video but donât get tired of watching it over and over itâs great content. đđ»đđ»
If you've never had a straight razor shave you have no idea how relaxing it is. I'd imagine Harry felt like a new man after this particular shave.
This guy is good if heâs putting all of us to sleep
Within the first five minutes, woke up with another video playing. Iâll need to watch again first thing in the morning.
Bruh this made me sleepy within the first minute of the video
Totally my intention.
He is the american version of "comfortable sir"
This guy looks like a CEO of a company, who comes to this shop of him by skipping the office hours to enjoy his work of art.

This comment was worded so poorly I puked.
This video is like a magnet đ§Č it keeps bringing me back to watch it again and again this is like my 30th time I watch itâŠâŠ

He also has a pot leaf sticker on his mirror. ':)

Too noisy for ASMR
@@kindasport agreed. The steamer annoys the hell out of me.
@kabouterwesley83 John the barber himself actually commented about the steamer on this video, if you scroll up the top.

Now that's a shave. The old ways are best. These skills are what separate the good and the bad. Excellent skills. đ
This might be the best shave on youtube. First of all the shave was amazing no cuts no nicks and the skin at the end it looked soo smooth and not irritated at all. And the massage was top notch and the little details like making the client get the smell of the oil on the towel and the after shave before putting it on wasđ. This guy is a master. One of the few times I've watched a video and gone "wow, I HAVE to visit this barber, he's a master at his craft". The attention to detail, the precision, the little touches that make it perfect...thoroughly enjoyable to watch, must be even more enjoyable in person. This is my favourite video of yours along with Figaros from Lisbon.
Iâve actually never seen a barber wash his hands before commencing the shave. Interesting.
79908 itâs usually not obvious in the videos but itâs good hygiene. If you create a scratch, even microscopic you could transfer bacteria onto someoneâs face and into that scratch. Very unlikely probably but itâs god insurance to keep your customers safe
You're suppose to wash your hands between haircuts also.
Well in India the street barbers do..yea ok.
I always wash my hands in between customers. I'm shocked that other barbers wouldn't do that!

I absolutely love when a barber does the 2 round shave, first with the grain, 2nd time against for a truly clean shave. I hope to someday visit some of these shops you have. @@wanderlustjohn Thank you! a huge greeting from Argentina
Thank you Harry, for posting all of your experiences. My grandfather was a barber through WW2. My mother let me have all of his tools after he passed away. Iâve still got his straight razors as well as his safety razors, razor strop, and first generation clippers. They still smell like his barber shop and his razors still have the perfect edge. I have such fond memories of growing up in the barber shop, my second tattoo was a barber pole. By the time he passed, he had performed thousands of shaves on our servicemen. If his hands could have spoken. John, what you do brings tears to my eyes, because you are part of a remarkable few with a true craft that has been handed down through decades. Your career is nostalgic, historic and artistic. It has been desired, revered and sought after by royalty, leaders and your everyday humble man worldwide since men began shaving with shards of obsidian. Itâs a dying art unfortunately but what you do honors the memory of my grandfather, his service, others like him and the current generation of barbers. I tip my hat to you sir. Thank you.
Tyler, that made me well up a bit. Thank you so very much for your kid words, appreciation and respect for our craft.
