You might want to consider selling some hot chocolate/or coffee out of a designated area if you have someone who manages your business while you're gone. Since it is a seasonal merchandise, but whatever saves you money in my humble opinion.

the quarters are the money maker because the more quarters he puts in there, the more money can be put in there in exchange for the quarters. So if he makes 1,000 dollars in quarters from his machines he can put them in the coin exchange and get 1,000 dollars cash for. He then takes the 1000 dollars in cash out as profit and hopefully the machines made another 1000 dollars in quarters so he can get another 1000 dollars in cash out and keep repeating. Basically the quarters are the profit but he does not touch it until it is turned into cash in the coin exchange and by then he's already made more profit in quarters to turn into more cash.

Really though, if towards the end of the year he has XXXX profit but doesn't want to pay any taxes he can make purchases for the business to reduce or eliminate that profit - nothing illegal about that. Where it becomes a problem is when purchases/expenses that are "for the business" are actually for personal use. For example buying new washing machines vs. buying a new Rolex watch.

As someone who has had some time in the business. It's only worth checking the top loaders once a month or two. Load up on pastries in the vending machine and refill 3 times a week. Cheap canned sodas are a good profit.
@JMFS dude, this is how the world works. If he wasnt charging this much money he wouldn't make a profit. Poor people can buy a washer and dryer on Facebook marketplace or Craigslist for cheap. This is capitalism my guy
If I was you, I would separate income from each machine especially vending vs washing/drying to calculate the return of each item. I think throwing all the coins in a single bucket is not an effective way to learn the idiosyncrasies of a business. If your new machines were pulling double the revenue of the old machines, that is valuable information that change may your strategy. Perhaps being a bit more data driven could benefit your business.
I have seen plastic gizmos that sort coins and count them for rolling. It would probably be worth using the counter, writing the result on a form and dumping the coins in a bucket. IT does not have to be 100% accurate at this point.
maxbass that’s not how it works, if you go to a laundromat with $5 dollars worth of clothes to do, you’re gonna spend $5 total. Some washing machines do use less water though, so they make a larger profit. The most important factor of making money though is having a market or making a market.
Cool video man!! I’m getting inspired to start a laundromat business!! It’s something I’ve had in my mind since a teenager but never really acted on it...Definitely going to watch more videos. Thanks for sharing!
@JMFS It's a high capacity dryer, most I've seen can dry three loads at once, which actually saves people$3.50. (The regular one load dryers were charging $2.50)
@JMFS you buy s shop ,, but washing machines and dyers the coin operated ones will be a thousand bucks each ,pay water ,electricity ,repairs ,tax and see how much you can do it for ?
i’m a super paranoid person i suggest locking the doors when you go in to count so no one can rob you you’d be surprised how many people really strategize their robberies they’ll watch you come in and calculate or estimate the hour you come in to count and take advantage i just say this because i’d hate for you to take a down fall from criminals and you definitely had put in the work for this place
@@twan14_ Profit is after all costs are factored in, Revenue is just income generated. So if revenue is less than costs, you operate at a loss. But if Revenue exceeds costs then there is a profit.

@@dannyvee4499 that was a weekend tho. Weekdays aren't as busy. so 3-4 days is $600 I'd say he's making around $800-900 a week, I'd say a bit less than 4k a month
I'm interested to see if you made a profit at the end of the month. I ran some numbers on my end with a bit of guessing on what your other costs will look like. I think, before accounting for your start up costs, you're going to have made a profit of $1000-$1500 for the month. Some of this will need to go toward your paying off how much you bought the business for and purchasing new machines (start up costs). Overall, I think you'll make a profit, but it won't be livable wages. I think you'll need to have a few laundromats for livable wages. For the little time that you spend overseeing your laundromat, I'd say your single laundromat is an excellent way to let the business make money for you (even it's not a ton of money).
Its a pain in the ass of a business. Machines constantly breaking, people constantly needing refunds, dumb teens trying to break into them for weed money, ect ect.
i had this idea as well, though he did not state the actual cost of running his laundromat. Operational cost was not factored in during the (4?) days of use. Thats what I am interested in.

When you restock you kinda get to know how much sales occurred
For the record dude said he had $600 worth of quarters half way through checking. Then ended with $444.
@@holyarmageddon19 no, he said the bucket can hold up to $600 worth of quarters.

Cool video man!! I’m getting inspired to start a laundromat business!! It’s something I’ve had in my mind since a teenager but never really acted on it...Definitely going to watch more videos. Thanks for sharing!
How much is water? How much is electricity? Taxes, maintenance, ect? Congrats man
Depends on the area he lives in
Also he is not paying employees, that saves him a ton
John He will be in the Red after all expenses paid. Congrats

Hey loved that at the end you said “this is revenue not profit” so many SBO’s fail to make that distinction and it causes huge problems.
Michael Carlson what’s the difference
@@twan14_ Profit is after all costs are factored in, Revenue is just income generated. So if revenue is less than costs, you operate at a loss. But if Revenue exceeds costs then there is a profit.
Profit = revenue - total cost
Is money from an quarter exchange = revenue?
NedBark no, there is equal exchange.
Am I the only one who felt joy listening to the coins jingle in the counting machine!
Watched the ENTIRE video at 3 AM, ty for satisfying my needs :D

I think putting tide pods in the vending machines would be a good idea. You never know who wants a quick yummy snack.

Interested to see the expenses. Rent, water, hydro, repairs, all adds up
I believe he bought this place and owns the space.
@@tanamurphy7388 oh? That makes my opinion A lot more optimistic. If he doesn't pay rent he might actually be making a profit
DmD he says and shows in another video the mortage payments he makes.
Colin Hart well He said 3-4 days =600 that’s like 5-6 k a month
@@dannyvee4499 that was a weekend tho. Weekdays aren't as busy. so 3-4 days is $600 I'd say he's making around $800-900 a week, I'd say a bit less than 4k a month
CZcams recommended this video to me. And I'm glad for you. In 3.75 days you made $600 revenue back. You are doing pretty good in my opinion.
"Hey this is out of order. And I send them a check" Him: still pours the coins in the bucket
He should use mobile payment systems if customers are texting him. Might work out cheaper than writing a check and posting it.
Have an attendant that does wash and folds.
@@donaldg.iiivaleska7344 Then you're dealing with employee taxes, slackers, etc...

I freaking love this!! Laundromat has been idea I’ve had in my head for awhile now. Very excited to watch the upcoming video.
Get at it man!
i had this idea as well, though he did not state the actual cost of running his laundromat. Operational cost was not factored in during the (4?) days of use. Thats what I am interested in.
Cameran Manner if you watched the entire video, at the end he said he would be releasing a new video going over revenue vs. expenses and stuff like that!

@@CBielski87 yep... wish i knew how much atleast one machine was, i wonder how much it is to pay rent for that place, and then theres the massive water/electric bill.... might take a few years for that guy to make his money back id say
I mean, it's going to take a couple of years before he makes his money back from those machines. Chances are they're real low.
Right. I owned a tobacco store that had 45k revenue a month but the profit was way lower. I'm 100% certain his margins are way better though.
He made about 800 revenue in 4 days.
