Hapo kwenye DSG ujaelezea vizuri.. and DSG haina torque converter.. DSG ni format ya manual gear box with gears arranged in even numbers and odd numbers and gear are pre selected before the actual engagement of next gear.. the shifting is achieved by mechatronics device which consists of number of solenoids that are the one engaging the selected gears. (To achieve this, the gearbox comes with Dual clutch sets and it is a reason why DSG is also called DCT-dual clutch transmission)
This being an automatic transmission car, it has specific transmission fluid which is applied to its gearbox (called DSG or DCT fluid). DSG transmission system only takes 1lt of DSG fluid...
The weakness of this Tiguan is weak water pump,
Most of them here in Tanzania than come with 2.0TSI do break water pump(they have electric plastic water pump which is sold very expensive here Dar es salaam)
Also these TSI engines found it in Tiguans they have common problem of timing chain tensioner failure which in end causing catastrophic engine failure (ie bending of valves and pistons)

Great detailed review! However, (not trying to be a pessimist here) isn't it sad that everyone out there (Europe, America's, Asia and Australia) are reviewing the latest Tiguan (and technically all other brands)...but it's only here whereby we review 2014/2015 models (in 2021) coz of the crazy taxes imposed on newer vehicles making it almost impossible to afford latest vehicles. Looking forward to more of your reviews!

On DSG units, there are two versions of it. One with the wet clutches and the second one is the dry unit with twin clutch packs. These units are capable of running to 100,000 of miles without giving you any headaches if well taken care of . If abused, they will definitely fail prematurely. The wet clutch unit will function well if serviced every 40000miles. This means changing the oil and filter every 40000miles. Measure the fluid when draining it and refill with the same amount. I'll come back later on the twin clutch system.

What ground clearance do you consider OK or good for Kenyan roads i.e the car should be seating 5 and not scraping bumps?

There is no way on earth you will ever compare German cars with its competitors Japanese cars especially on quality, braking, stability, acceleration, top speed, life span, safety and class the only good thing with the Japanese cars is cheap spare parts which obviously fail often and good resale value

I fear Volkswagens because of the expense of maintenance. Otherwise they're nice rides.

Funny my mind been on this car since jana especially coz of the safety/ security feautures and good to see a review on the same today(big brother is clearly watching us) . I went to Cheki and saw many were 7 seaters and I became sold out... Then today I go to check on TCV website and only find the 5 seaters ones. Is there something I am missing on number of seats???Also apo kea gear box nimepotea kabisa, kuja unitafte na lay man's language... Alafu my other option was a dualis (but nissans dont sit well with me I don't know why) i think it is even wrong to try and compare the two
