There is a certain charm to the 80s/90s style Don’t forget that it’s drawn traditionally so it looks more grainy, that definitely contributes to the style. I don’t think it would looks quite the same if were drawn digitally.
The more unique character designs and expressions can't be translated into modern anime shows. If what I understand is correct, then the economic boom in Japan after the second world war contributed allot to the creative freedom they expressed in their creations. An animation studio made a huge godzilla statue (hollow/ temporary) and I don't think they were even promoting anything. They just had a spot to fill outside and spent a ton of money on a well made statue for fun. It was a cultural icon after all. The effort needed, the risky economics, the studio competition and the expectation of self sacrifice for the studios makes this style of animation less viable today. I feel that hand drawn anime also have a more lively look and carries an optimism in it's style from the 80s. I can't feel that warmth in the more atomically correct style mostly used today. Many great anime today has a sterile clean look that seems less personal compared to the 80s. We can only hope that a new boom happens one day. Maybe there will be a new style, but hopefully just as lively and unique as the 80s animations. One with cartoonish looks with optimism, because a face that morphs with expressions and emotions is more fun than seeing what's made today; style wise.
I love how absolutely insanely expressive the characters are, using all the shortcuts they can to make economic anime. but absolutely NAILING the small details that make the anime work, like the complex perspective shots, the movement and expressiveness. new anime characters have such rigid expressions in comparison (generally) to older anime like this, and depend on CG drawing too much to give all the cells the same ... weightiness.
There are so many AMVs out there that are overflowing with special effects. This one doesn't seem to have any at all, yet it's way cooler than most others, simply because it's cut so well.
Drifted back to AMVs after a few years. This one covering Dirty Pair proved that old cell animation did somethings waaayy better than many Comp assisted animation. edit: Aaayy, Copycat Revolver! Glad to see you still alive and kicking. Muchos gracias.
If anyone ever decides to make another Dirty Pair series I hope that they make Kei a redhead and Yuri a brunette again. The thing I hated the most about the "Dirty Pair Flash" series was how they messed with their hair color and drastically changed their costumes. When I looked at them, I didn't see Kei and Yuri. They were imposters.
@@tochirov oh I'm considered older than Gen X, I just didn't try getting into anime until 2012. I don't like the artstyle of any of the anime from that era(approximately before 2000)
I did not expect to see a Dirty Pair AMV in 2021. I am certainly not complaining about it.
Agree. We need more oldschool titles instead of zoomer s**t. They used to have some sort of soul, I suppose...
Maybe someone ought to do a "remaster" of the old DP AMV with "Girls with Guns". Now that goes way back....
You and me both baby! How are there not enough dirty pairs amv
That’s “Lovely Angels”, dammit! 😜
@@theodorerelic2718 Like czcams.com/video/HEmV6fkz3Lc/video.html ?
I'm old enough to have the original (heavily degraded) on video tape somewhere ! :)
I love the 80's artstyle so much. Hoping we could see similar artstyles nowadays
There is something realistic about how they look compared to say gg cup mcgee
A updated version of this style would be best because some anime are changing the style to be more like a light novel

so this series is something i didnt know i needed, time to spend the rest of the weekend binge watching 80s anime.
I'm with you, this amv was so well done, or I wouldn't have watched all of dirty pair.

Yeah, Copycat is god-like at making these
Finally some love for my favorite pair of Trouble Consultants!! ❤ The Dirty Pair!!!
I like how they went through the different versions and series of Dirty Pair and ending with Dirty Pair Flash.

Those two make collateral damage look good.

But holy shit its awesome
Anime from the time where being an anime fan could actually get you beaten up lol
This was really great. I think the animation holds up great. I have a bunch of Dirty Pair on Laser Disc. Too bad I don't have a working player.
A working laser disk player? ‘Tis only a myth.
@@Veelofar I have a working one!

Это восхитительно! Обожаю старые аниме! Они такие душевные)
Epic Edition ❤
Good to see you still around Copycat Revolver
What's fun is, as someone who's a big fan of the series, is trying to name in your head where each clip comes from.
Dirty Pair Original!!! And Flash!!! Good to see that someone has real taste these days.
So glad this reminded me of the good old days.

Eu tinha esperado por meses até você contar a postar vídeo em seu canal.
All I can convey is: YES!!!
I recognize dirty pair with the first duo. What is the second show?
I don't have any context to this and I prefer it that way.

It's crazy to think people hand drew this stuff.
Is it a problem that I know Dirty Pair just because of the comics of Adam Warren?😅
Nah, they're bound to bring in fans, just like the anime will. Maybe not as _many_ fans, but that's fine. ;3
@@MrOmegatronic Thanks😁✌

like this is sci fi version of ranma
this anime is far too behind when I got into anime and it doesn't look very good.
this is the sort of anime Gen X grew up with.
