Now I understand why Turkish Delight isn't cheap! Thats a lot of work!
Not exactly Turkish because they took the recipe from the Greeks of Ionia/ Asia Minor. Same with Baklava.
@@keylanoslokj1806 yes but the deserts name is called Turkish delight
White sugar, corn flour, large proportion ingredients are cheap stuffs.
@@dessertspring6206 Yes, except for the pistachios, the ingredients are cheap, but the labor is intensive! You must stir the mixture constantly for long periods.
@@SmthAbout.Money.SmellsLikeLove sure thing. Turkish culture must be a thing. Not that you got an official language like 50 years ago. Oh and "your" land is still called yunan-ionia.... .
Being half Turk I'm very impressed to see an Indian making Turkish delight so good. I used to make them at home when I was in school. Apart from that I buy from famous Turkish places and if I'm in Turkey my city is very famous for all kinds of sweets including Baklava, Kunafah and Turkish delight.
The pomegranate imparts such a GLORIOUS colour!! And the little crunchy pops of green with the pistachios make these so beautiful . Gosh I could eat a bunch of these. Turkish delight is my favourite sweet ❤️
Not exactly Turkish because they took the recipe from the Greeks of Ionia/ Asia Minor. Same with Baklava.
@@keylanoslokj1806 I think the Greeks make it differently. It doesn't matter, though, as the Turkic people who settled in what is known today as Turkey, used to be nomadic and had travelled from Central Asia down to India, through Iran and Iraq to Byzantium, part of which is today's Turkey. On their way, they collected foods and customs from every area. Pretty much, nothing of what they cook is Turkish.
@@keylanoslokj1806 I'm guessing you are greek.

Seems a LOT of work and time.
Very delicious anyway.
I recently made these but i couldn't be bothered with peeling a pomegranate (too much effort!) instead I used unsweetened pomegranate juice and vanilla (instead of rose water because I hate it). I coated the delights in desiccated coconut. The whole process was quite time consuming - especially the constant stirring - however, I now appreciate why (the better quality) Turkish Delight is expensive - not pre-packed ones. Anyway, everyone was very impressed so thank you for your recipe!
Was it tasty?

I can honestly say, they were by far superior to any you’d find in Turkey.
Dear Jen....I belong to a midddle class family from india .....can't even imagine to visit turkey....😁 but actually i want to make it...i was thinking if it's taste is little bit sweet and sure and fruity as well so my husband will not like...he doesn't eat fruits... so i asked and thanks a lot for the reply 🙂
Pre packed ones are not tasty 😕
@@jenbas4788 Home made is always better. Same here, I hate rose water !
You can make a very successful Turkish delight with hazelnut, pistachio and rose flavored varieties. We Turks do not usually make it at home, we buy it, but it can be tried at home.
I delighted to hear that 😊. I hope you will give this a go.
You can also try orange Turkish delight czcams.com/video/uZb17Y-FTsk/video.html
Turkey needs to work on it’s human rights.
I have been in Turkey many times and they do it inside the houses or flats. Actually I always saw it doing it in the living room
the witch giving Edmand to eat that delight was so mouthwatering
Whenever i see turkish delight that scene is exactly what i think about.
Poor Edmund thought there are more of them in castle of white witch 😂😂
Agreed with above cmt finally found the recipe 😍
Ssss😍
I followed your recipe and it was just awesome. I had some Italian wine in the fridge and made my lokum with it. Sadly there were no pistachios around (nor Brazil nuts) so, they are going to be plain ...
Thanks a lot.
Greetings from a Brazilian subscriber.
Growing up my father would bring these treats home every time he returned from his trip when he would visit my grandmother in Greece. 🇬🇷
I made mine with oranges and multi vitamin juice. Turned out to be amazing. Thanks for the recipe
Finally, I got the recipe I was waiting for. Had visited Turkey in 2011 and simply loved The Turkish delights. Thank you very much. Will try this out soon.
Does it taste like the one from turkey?
Is it cheap there?

I had lifelong obsession with turkish delight since I have watched Narnia. The taste was completely different than what I have expected.
I remember seeing some TV version as a child of the L W & W & trying Turkish delight after & not really getting why the kids were so hooked on it,now I'm mad for the stuff.
bahut hi shandaar recipe, very different...dhanywad
First heard of this as a kid in the early 1980’s from the KQED tv station old episodes of the Lion, witch and the wardrobe….. seeing the boy getting the Turkish delights from the witch always made me want to taste them…. It wasn’t until 2016 that I finally tasted them from a co worker who was from Turkey. Anyway, this is a great treat and thanks for sharing with the world!
Peace, mercy and blessings of God

I love it so much.. , introduced by the Turkish Airline Stewardess for the first time...just before we took off heading to Istanbul...It was amazing..and I even bought some of it at the Spice Bazar for my family at home..to have a try.and they liked it too..😀
I was just wondering if cornstarch would taste better than gelatin though. Is it better? It's really a good idea I love pomegranates and gummi bears. I think I will try it.
It's looks so yummy 🤤
Magnificent and simple!
Nice natural color.❤
It was very enjoyable to watch your preparation. I may not prepare or eat this dish, considering the sugar in this dish, but it was very intriguing to see how its made. Excellent video. All the best 👍🏻
I’m close to 80-years old and my mom taught me to test for soft ball stage using the exact same method you do.

Wow testy 😋
I've prepared the pomegranates, ready for me to pulp, I've prepared the syrup ready to heat. Now I'm going to watch this video repeatedly until I feel confident that I won't end up with a sticky kitchen and my wife will be -laughing- watching me. Thanks for the upload.
It worked, first time ever. I ended up with 72 pieces that I can give away. I've never tasted Turkish Delight like this. I'll be adding this into the list of sweets I make around Eid.
