    Great job.. with my experience in logging ....I would look where it is going to fall if something goes wrong and stay out of that area. The point where you stopped the video (ran out of batter) while lowering was pretty hairy. Glad it was uneventful. I wonder if it would be easier to lift each end while it is on the truck and place blocks so you can lift the box from the middle with one piece of equipment. I lifted a 20 ft sea can from the middle with my forklift . That way you can lower it under much more control. An alternative would have a tow truck with a tilt and lift winch the box off the truck bed. Thats how I move my sea can from jobsite to jobsite costs $150 -$200 including mileage.

    You got a perfect donor for the parts you need and will re purpose it and make someone a good low mileage work truck.

  • @crazyjdkid
    @crazyjdkid Před 5 lety +1

    This is a good example for the International vs Freightliner debate! The Freightliner M2 has an Aluminum cab so it wouldn't have rusted. But the steel cab of the International is supposedly stronger. 20ft isn't too common of a box size around here. Mainly see 26,24 and 16.

    • @j.c.smithprojects
      @j.c.smithprojects  Před 5 lety +1

      This is not a typical international of this age. however, an all aluminum cab would be nice.

    saving some long truck frame rails.. to allow you to make some A frame stands that are high enough allow the truck to be driven out from under the box.. but also save some frame rails like 12 to 14 foot long to sit on top of the A frame stands. if you box in the ends of the frame rails.. you can lift then into place with a fork of your track loader. this allows you to back under the box with most trailers to then only set it down. use some 6 foot and 8 foot sections of frame rail to weld into pallets to set boxes on.. allowing a decent sized fork lift to move boxes or truck beds around.. since its going to be stacked 2 or 3 layers.. your forks can slide in the end and not damage the sides of the bed by sitting on the ground. its all up to what you want to do with your plasma cutter. just thoughts..

      @j.c.smithprojects  Před 5 lety

      i dont remove a box from a truck unless it is sold. i dont need to move them around. i just lift them up and driver the truck out from under it. i dont do too many of these and really dont want to invest the truck frame or the time to build it but thanks for the thought.

    waynes voltage drop test.. i.imgur.com/kviX0VQ.jpg
    the parasitic draw test.. i.imgur.com/y0cf5nx.jpg you will need a better battery cut off switch than that for trucks.
    the parasitic draw test allows you to monitor the 0.040 amps. or 40 milliamps of expected draw by the computer, radio and BCM.
