I actually take issue with saying Wonder Woman getting the Violet Ring is lame. "She got it because Woman" is bullshit. Wonder Woman's entire character was built on love and peace. Her getting the Violet ring makes the most sense in the world.

Wonder Woman has been portrayed as a more ruthless and violent character in some books (eg Kingdom Come, New 52 to some extent) which is probably what Ben is thinking of here.
Which I usually have a problem with. It can work, like in the Justice League cartoon, and probably Kingdom Come I've haven't read it yet.
+Ethan Marsh Granted I don't read too many DC books atm, but I did read the full run of the Brian Azzarello (Vol 1-6) run in the New 52 and she never came off as particulary violent and ruthless. Based on this version of Wonder Woman, I'm not sure why Sal felt the Violet Ring was lame. Love is a pretty strong emotion after all. For me the ring suited her pretty well.
+Ebrehlac00 she seems a lot more violent than pre-New 52 Wondy, but she's a lot more diplomatic than most New 52 versions of characters. In a world where Wally West and Billy Batson are jerks, she's practically a saint.

Blackest Night was my VERY first foray into DC I had no idea who anyone who weren't flagship characters were, but it was SO GOOD I loved it

I think my favorite part of Back Issues lore is when Ethan is reading the oath and nothing happens before realizing there is more of it.
ive gone back to re watch Sal's alan moore impression so many times now.
One of my favorite OH SHIT moments in this whole event is when they resurrect the original swamp thing and have him fight the black ring version. Also I don't mind WW getting the star sapphire ring since the non-psychopathic version of WW(my version) is suppose to be loving of Earth and all those who live on it.
My love of this show has forced me to create a CZcams account just to like and follow this show in particular. It's not the only show I watch. I had actually seen everyone's pages in the group cast with Faust and all them. But this show is the one. When I first found this channel I spent a whole weekend playing video games and listening to their whole catalog. You guys keep up the great work...

Oh but now with Rebirth it's explained that all of the continuity did happen so that's how it could have happened in New 52, but all the characters had memories taken from them so none of them really remembered the lead up to Blackest Night, but how could certain characters come back then... my head hurts lol. Also was kind of disappointed that Scarecrow got a yellow lantern ring and they didn't do very much with it. Still a fantastic read nonetheless and has made me more interested in the Green Lantern side of the DC universe then ever before

It was really a big missed opportunity not bringing everybody back. It was a good story and DC could be use this story for relaunch instead of universe changing reboot.
Actually Alan Moore's prophecy was about his Twilight of the Gods story but the deal didn't go throug. Instead the ideas used for this story and Kingdom Come.

I love this series! I noticed the werewolf thing at about 14 minutes where the hands change but only just now realized that the bandage from the beginning was because of the werewolf bite. :)
I really like the line "It's because I'm Italian" that was awesome. I don't know why I liked the cheesiness as much as I did but I did so yea, well done.

I haven't been back to this episode in like 5 years, I just re-read Blackest Night enjoyed it so much and then thought of this great episode. Sal's expression at 6:17 is one of my favorite moments ever for Comic Pop this episode is just pure gold.
Wonder Woman being a Star Sapphire makes perfect sense. At her best, she always makes an effort to love and understand everyone, even her enemies, no matter how evil they are. I’m not saying she wouldn’t have enough willpower to become a Green Lantern or anything like that, but still. Love suits her much better.
Sal, your impressions are freaking incredible. It's rare that a person can make just about any comic fun.

I can't believe you guys are doing Blackest Night on back issues. It is my favorite comic event I have ever read. Funny thing is back in college my friends and I went to a small con. One of the free things I pick up while there was a preview comic that had all the lantern corps in it. I was so fascinated by them I researched Green Lantern comics which lead to this book and my love of Green Lantern and Geoff Johns.

I thought Scarecrow as a Yellow Lantern was very cool. Scarecrow was always a cool character and it fits perfectly....
Blackest Night proved how much DC was in disarray. Look how many of DC top-tier characters were death at the time this event occurred.

Brightest Day Justice League Generation Lost was a great series imo dealing with Maxwell Lords resurrection. I remember also enjoying Brightest Day The Flash!

Well, technically the original Black Hand wasn't a weirdo necrophiliac dude, that all came after Infinite Crisis. Originally he was just a dude from a nice, well respected family. He didn't like them, so he became a criminal. He had this device that could sap the energy from things. While initially just used to take the residual energy from GL's ring, the writers got more creative, like when he took the energy that protected Flash's body from his own speed. He also talked to the readers sometimes. Other than that, he was just a fun villain. Nowadays I hate him, but I love the classic stories.
Well Sal's a zombie werewolf this is going to make the weekly pull more interesting.

Loved the video but being a huge Green Lantern fan, you didn't mention Guy or John at all and only had one mention of Kyle. They are pretty key to the story. I know most of it takes place in GL: Blackest Night but I think the rest of the Lanterns of 2814 are important enough to get noticed.
