  • Perceiving Color and Sound:
    The Necessity for Slow Art
Before my "Blueberry" painting was shipped out to Pola Museum (www.polamuseum.or.jp) exhibit in Japan, I had an extraordinary conversation with Dr. James Jordan, conductor of the Westminster Choir pointing the way toward understanding the value of slow art for artists and musicians.
James shared some of the new concepts in his upcoming book, " Hearing Loud" to be published by GIA Publications (Giamusic.Com) that are central to the art of conducting and music-making in general.
Dr. James Jordan is Director of Choral Studies at Westminster Choir College of Rider University. He is conductor of the renowned Westminster Choir and the historically acclaimed Westminster Symphonic Choir.

I've always wished I could see your paintings in person, but of all of them, I'd have to be in the room with this one even to *begin* to experience it. As you point out, digital representation kills it--on my screen it's just a slab of bluish-greenish-gray. But listening to your conversation ("about" this painting only in the sense that it shared the realm of thought and art and beauty and action with it) has helped me to come to an understanding of a passionately important area of my writing that has been tormenting me for a very long time. Thank you so much, just for sharing, and letting each person breathe in whatever that individual needs! And on another, but harmonizing, note, if one is scarred enough, one can eventually become more gold than clay. And all the past pain can become a gift, thanks be to the One.
