Angela Davis Slams Trump Rally in Tulsa, Massacre Site, on Juneteenth Celebration of End of Slavery

- President Trump will resume holding indoor campaign events starting with a rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 19, a day known as Juneteenth, that celebrates African Americans’ liberation from slavery. The rally also falls on the 99th anniversary of the Tulsa race riots, one of the worst acts of racial violence in U.S. history, in which white residents killed hundreds of their African American neighbors. Legendary scholar Angela Davis says it’s important to recognize that Trump “represents a sector of a population in this country that wants to return to the past … with all of its white supremacy, with all of its misogyny.” Given the historic uprising against racism and state violence, “We cannot be held back by such forces as those represented by the current occupant of the White House,” she says.

White Woman had Lied, Tulsa.
Most likely, I heard he accidentally stepped on her toe and she said he assaulted her. Ive also heard it was a elevator attendant that was supposedly assaulted but it wouldn't surprise me if nothing close to either happened
It wasn't about a white woman, reading the writings from that time it was about jealousy at what the blacks had accomplished; the reference in itself was a nod to racism.

Michelle of course I get it it's not rocket science, but I also can tell that you do not; whether they lied or not, on this issue, the white women are themselves irrelevant, at best secondary, or only relevant as an excuse for the destruction of a black economic infrastructure that was a threat directly, as well as to white self image, and a source of, as stated before, jealousy. Anecdotal information, from "the horses mouth" insightful, poignant and pertinent as it was or is, notwithstanding.

According to some things I read it was private planes.
They did the same thing against striking west virginia miners during the 1920's. If you were a minority or a poor white then persecution in some form or fashion was to be expected. There are so many accounts of resistance in past times it's hard to recall all of them. I'm from oklahoma and you might be interested in the green corn uprising, it was rebellion that crossed the color lines and is forbidden history in the state. Tulsa, OK was razed to the ground because it was an affluent thriving black community. Others like it were also destroyed... Rosewood, FL, Seneca Village, NYC, Wilmington, NC... there were even 7 elected black representatives in Congress in the 19th century.

Read "An eruption in Tulsa" in Nation magazine, it is on the web. The article is by NAACP investigator Walter White. Walt says that a group of 75 black guys shot 10 white boys with a loss of two blacks. Nothing is said about injuries. Anyhow, this happened at the courthouse in Tulsa on the evening before the destruction of Greenwood the next morning. Some may say that the courthouse massacre led to the Greenwood massacre.

Im from south America, south america doesn't lag at all behind the US regarding racism, to be honest it surpasses the US by a huge margin. Why the US makes more progress than other countries?, I think in the more diverse media in the US the messages across society are from actors from all walks of life, I mean you don't have nothing like Democracy Now in south america. The way the media covers marches for justice and economic inequelities is reduced to how the commuters and the traffic are affected by them a 100% of the time, the media would never dare to get the perspectives of those who seek justice and equality for the public to assess. I say media, because there's no such thing as mainstream media here, it is media 100% mainstream. Even CNN is more progressive than any media oulet in south america. Can you believe it? I am waiting on someone to make the proper social commentary and critique of actions of the late Micah Xavier Johnson. His behavior was not really an anomaly, nor completely unjustified. Violent, yes, but I'm sure many intelligent sociopolitical analysts can see the correlation. Historians like Gerald Horne should be able to show the same behavior in american history.
