Heya Simon. Can I say you are absolutely amazing! I'm watching these vids to help prepare from my exam (need it for uni entrance) and your clear, calm and detailed explanations are invaluable. I got a D in maths back in the day and never really moved on. In all my other exams I got A*, A, A, B,B,B,B,B,B. I'm really hoping I pass this FS2 exam. According to the level-checker I already have L2 in numbers, it's the other sections, with shapes like circles and triangles, that I struggle with.

2 and 2/8 would be fine. I just try to encourage good habits, particularly for people who are looking to take their maths further such as GCSE, A level, etc. Also, working with fractions in their simplest form helps make calculations simpler and can highlight potential mistakes.

Hello Simon I have followed your teaching vidoesfor along time and have recommended them to friends learning maths and find them very helpful, thank you for your support. My question is on calculator paper no 3 I did 175x4=700
700÷6=116.60
b)116.60×6=700 is that collect?

The only change I would make to your answer is 116.66 (or 116.67) instead of 116.60. Because we're working with money we should always round to 2 decimal places. You'll also note that when you do 116.60 x 6 you get £699.60, so 40p away from £700. With 116.66 (or .67) you still won't get the exact answer but it's as close as you can be.
why did you simplify question 10 when it didn't ask you to and would the answer 2 and 2/8 be acceptable?
This looks hard especially for someone like me who struggles at maths, I can’t even pass level 1, how I’m I going to pass level 2
You might need level 2 but find the right level for you to start, you might even want to look at entry level 3 to ensure you've got the basics and then you can build from there.

Hi, unfortunately paper 5 isn't publicly available yet. But as soon as it is I'll upload it. Note that there are a few other past and practice papers too. You can find them all in the Pearson/Edexcel L2 playlist.

@@zahidaghani8064 Hi, thanks for your comments. I only post videos if the exam board has made the paper available to everyone. Pearson made past papers 1 - 4 available just before Christmas so unlikely they'll do paper 5 in the next couple of weeks. But you can use other exam boards as well, City & Guilds is probably the next closest.

I failed my functional skills maths test I got only 18 out of 60 how long do you think I need to take before resitting?
It really depends on how much time and work you're able to put in. I would suggest you wait until you're getting at least 50% - 60% in the practice papers under exam conditions. As you're still a little way off you probably want to identify your weaker areas to concentrate on first, possibly even going over some Level 1 material to get yourself comfortable with that before moving on.

@@debbielane9778 The easiest way to find them is by going to the home screen, try clicking on Simon HTT to do that. Then you should have options at the top, Home, Videos, Playlists,...
If you subscribe it should make it even easier. Choose playlists and then find the one that says Pearson/Edexcel L2.

Question 10.(b) it's two and a half where did you get two and a quarter
It's a check. The point of it is to confirm that you get back to something close to what you started with, not testing for accuracy.
