37 years ago this album was release here in Brazil. the best album from U2
This song came out when I was a sophomore in high school, and all these years later, it's on my playlist of favorite songs. The slow build is almost painful, but when he lets loose with that controlled scream, you feel it with him. There's definitely a reason U2 has had longevity spanning decades. Thanks for reacting to this.
They captured the emotion perfectly
In 1990 me and my 8 mates and I went to the pub together. we all knew it would the last time we were all be together. One was going into british army, one to university, college, new job's, we put the tune on for our mate who was going into the army, it was his favourite song. We all went into a circle, with our arms around each other. We all knew each other since kid's. We were all in tears. Because we new it was the end. I still see some of them. It was the best night, but also the sadist night.
Glad you're discovering U2, an Irish band with socially iconic Bono, lead vocalist, and The Edge, lead guitarist, making some great musical memories! (+ 2 names I don't remember;,)

The lyrics of the song are not dark, but honest in the sense that there can be arguments in a relationship, you can have feelings that make you think, but the decision to live together is not a change. The dynamics of a relationship can include many experiences, which makes us adults and not children in an emotional sense. This song is a metaphor.
My beautiful big sister passed away at only 46 three weeks ago, she wasn't into U2 but she loved their 'Ground Beneath Her Feet' (studio version) and it was OUR song, I miss her so very much, if you could give it a listen I would be eternally grateful 🙏 respect from Ireland mo dhearthair 🇮🇪🇺🇸

Great band, great reaction. Could you do a reaction to amother U2 song? When Love Comes To Town. Its a fabulous song done with the legendary B.B King giving it a definate blues sound. Stay safe.
Very nteresting take. The internal struggle could also be spiritual. There are several allusions to Christ in the lyrics, and Bono is heavily influenced by the bible. If it was spiritual, the 'she' could be temptation, and the songer could be contemplating living without God and succumbing to ,,,she.. or living with God.
