    The canon has much better quality for obvious reasons but the S8 is not so bad.

    "A dedicated Camera will always produce better images than our phones". Well said!
    However, do you think that maybe in the near or far future, phone cameras will produce quality as that of a dedicated camera? or it will always be that way so that Cameras will always be on sale?!

    • @LetsG0BrandonFJB

      Mohamed Hamdy they will get better but never as good as dslr because of its size

      Over the next 5 - 10 years I think the software on phones will get to a point where (most) people won't be able to tell the difference, like the iPhone portrait mode etc! However it's the physical size of lenses and sensors on cameras that make them better so a dedicated camera will most likely always be better :D

    • @Quoutub
      @Quoutub Před 7 lety +1

      This statement is ridiculous. Only people who don't know anything about cameras believe this.
      Google Nexus 5x/6p/Pixel with HDR+ ON already delivers much better jpgs than ILCs in terms of dynamic range and color reproduction. Moreover most lenses are not as sharp as smartphone lenses, especially not at the edges. ILCs nearly always blow out the sky with out-of-camera jpgs, smartphones like the Nexus/Pixel with HDR+ ON don't do this. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a paid review.

      S8 fares well at snapshots and macro, with pleasant results. But never at the level a DSLR can do, where the sensor is much bigger and where you can have the best lens for the task, with deeper levels of DOF and magnification. To get a little closer with an S8 you would need interchangeable lenses but that beats the purpose of a smartphone. I would like to see a battle between Samsung S8 and a Kodak Ektra smartphone www.kodakphones.com/row/ektra/

    S8 was really impressive coz 1 big device is specially made for photos which can't fix in your pocket, another has camera as one of the features and it fits in your pocket, take out quickly make photo, take it anywhere. So ofcourse mobile phone is not for 100% professional shooting. Nice job @Byte Review, Would love to see more of I phone 8 and X(when it comes out) Pixel XL2 and upcoming Mate 10

    Since the s8 has pro mode which shoots manual and raw I would have expected this video to be testing manual modes on both 70d and s8. Disappointed

    • @greylepoard
      @greylepoard Před 6 lety +2

      Jason Clavey if you could shoot with manual settings on both the 70D would blow the S8 out of the water every time. By simply having a larger sensor, better lens and better noise performance, the results wouldn't even be close.

  • @markmullens2906
    @markmullens2906 Před 7 lety +1

    The 70D is not a good representation of the kind of image quality you can expect from a modern DSLR. Something like a Nikon D5600 would've been a more appropriate comparison given that it's less than 12 months old and is reasonably priced. Image quality has improved significantly over the past 4 years so it doesn't really make sense comparing a phone from 2017 with a DSLR from 2013.

    No offense but I have a Nikon D750 which is a middle of the line DSLR and fairly decent lenses. I would have to smear my lenses to make them take such poor photos even on Auto. Most all your DSLR photos are out of focus. Did you shrink those photos? That lens isn't working well at all with your Canon.

    What is the point of this comparison if your using both the 70D and the S8+ in a way that neither device would be used by serious photographers? It would be a far more useful comparison if you pushed these devices to where you get the best results and let the chips fall where they may. No one would expect the S8+ to win but it would be nice to see just how close it might come.

      no matter how far technologie will evlove, smartphones will never look as good as a dslr. not that phoes look bad, its awsome how amazing the qality is from phones nowadays! :) however you will never be able to fit sensor the size of those in dslr's in such a small device. The sonsor size is important after all (Better lowlight, better bohek,...) Phones take advantage of their powerful processor's, which are making the image look "better" using software. ehile this looks good straight out of the phone, this is better for most people. how ever editing a dslr's image will look WAY better than a phones picture beacuse there is all that processing and articical stuff in phone picures. So for 99% of people a phone is better, but when it comes to raw imagige quality, dedicated cameras will always be best :)

      That Tech Though Even S7/S7 Edge/Note FE destroy Pixel, and you say that S8 isn't better than this?

      Yes I have clearly said that. You can check my review, supersaf, mkbhd, the verge and many others and they pretty much said the Pixel overall has the best camera.
      Just to let you know my background is in photography and been like that for a while and recently started videography. So when you say things like the S7 and Note 7 'destroy' the Pixel... I chuckle. :)

    OMG I'm cringing so bad at this video, for DSLRs it's not that much on the actual camera body, the lens that you are using is the key to get photos at it's maximum potential, and you should be using manual on both, anyone with some photography skills will say that this is a pretty disappointing comparison video?
