Use your local library, I’m fortunate to have a great public library system in San Francisco and can get almost any photo book I want. Being able to check the decisive moment by Henri Cartier Bresson really helped me figure out photography when I started. Also getting engaged in your local film community, find meet ups, go to galleries, and find out if people are creating zines or magazines. That will help out you by being next to other creative people and bring the best out in you.
great advice, this could be a whole video on it's own! community is so important.
I’m from Fort Worth TX they’re literally closing our main library in downtown lmao
@@abussin that’s horrible, San Francisco is going through a major economic downturn and our downtown area is not great but at least we still have our main library downtown. Hope you get your library back.
@@metalfingersfilm hope you make a video on it.
A big go-to for me lately has been to capture the FEELING vs "the moment". We can get so hung up at times wishing for perfect scenarios to align, but the feeling you first got when stopping to take the image, maybe trying to capture that is more valuable.
bingo! some of my favorite photos from a road-trip in late October are out of focus. but the moment trumps all imo!
Just got my Kodak half frame to walk around with.
It seems having an appreciation for the analog is helpful in *all forms* of analog mediums
Thanks Dayne, I think consuming many forms of art is good for creativity, rather than trying to just study one.
Honestly, though there's a "debate" about whether or not to edit your film photos, that can make a HUGE difference and get you in love with photos that would otherwise have looked a bit dull. After 4 years shooting film, I've only recently started using Lightroom and I'm not going back! I also do darkroom color prints but that's a whole nother process. Love your videos!
I’ve learned a ton from the few videos of yours I’ve seen. I’m new to film photography and so excited to jump in. My first camera is the Olympus OM-20 (Om-g in America), based on your Om-10 rec. So far I love it. Excited to continue learning. Subscribed. Cheers and happy shooting
Thanks for watching! Have you shot much through the OM-20 yet?
For sure! Literally shooting my first roll of film.
2:42 That halo effect caught! Wonderful.
