@@Jzombi301 lol I wrote this comment when I was 15 and hyperfixating because of my autism. I had just watched interviews and/or heard recordings of Alex Hirsch saying he specifically wanted Kristen Schaal to play Mabel because she was the perfect fit and how he literally didn’t want to make the show if he didn’t have her for Mabel. I also of course knew that Mabel and Dipper were based on Alex and his sister growing up. But, I also know Alex isn’t the one playing Dipper.
I also knew that Jason Ritter had a Dipper costume WAY before this infomercial and WAY before it was used in the show and truly does (at least as he appears in interviews) love and appreciate Dipper as a character. And I’m fairly certain I remember him saying that Dipper felt a lot like him as a cartoon character, too.
Yes I could tell they were playing it up but I was a child and was very excited (hence the all caps) about how the show related to real life people and how real those characters felt to me. I didn’t have a lot of friends growing up, if you couldn’t tell. And I just kinda summed up my feelings with that excited sentence. I’m not perfect. It happens. I didn’t think too much about my comments back then because I didn’t think anyone would care. More than anything I just thought it was cool how WELL they played these characters and how it felt like each character was MEANT for each actor to play! And how it FELT like they were the characters in real life because they’re all such good actors and were cast perfectly.
I wasn’t actually assuming I knew EVERYTHING about their personalities from an infomercial. At the time I would have thought that was obvious? Because that feels like a ridiculous thing to assume? Over 100 people agreed with my point since then, or at least whatever point they thought I was making from their perspective, because clearly my brain doesn’t work like everyone else’s. Hopefully I’ve learned to communicate better since then lol.
