  • In this recorded web presentation for the BC Neurofibromatosis Foundation (BCNF), you will learn how the brain controls pain, and how you can re-train your brain so that pain no longer rules your life.
Former nurse, health-researcher and health policy analyst, Jennifer Gait spent may years with chronic pain. When she read about neuroplasticity, the ability of the brain to change itself, she found how to relieve her pain. She then became a Life Coach specializing in chronic pain relief, to help people living with chronic pain create fuller, more joyful lives, unencumbered by persistent pain.

During the meditation technique, my mind went from cool colors of coral and green with card and seashell shapes with a cool feel, then from my breathing, which went from calm to that of an angry bull, to a fire hose sized tentical sized demon-like tongue that burst into flames that would wipe out my city, then calming back focused on breathing and my entire body, neck and skull pulsing with pain, I felt and saw the crumbling of white bone that I then smashed and watched it fall to the ground, dust particles blowing in the wind. Now I want to go hunting again after only a few months without the night terrors and restraint to go do away with this monster who ruined my body, my mind, my life and that of my kids. He still stalks. What my plan is, what I want is to just live and be happy again, and to find myself again, take back all the years of abuse, even thought he's still stalking me,after 11 yrs. Yes, I am in the childhood trauma section along with being hypersensitive since I was a toddler. Pain meds don't do much, but I'm having a hard time hanging in here. Thoughts of ending this all seems like heaven, only thing stoppn[ me are my boys. Help!

Trauma experiences can cause u to feel like this your prob feeling overwhelmed by the negative experiences u have endured in your life the ripple effects so to speak that's a very hard place to be in and I totally understand where your coming from you have your boys which is so positive and as long as u have those precious boys life is worth living removal of your ex is extremely important for your mental health and that of your boys and if u can find a good counsellor who can support you during this hard time I believe you will get to a point and place in your life that you'll feel capable in control and you'll have a desire and strength to live on for your beautiful kids I wish u love health peace joy in abundance 🌷♥️🦋🌹🌻

opiates imho are the best option for pain and with barely side effects if you dont abuse--i mut say opiates sure saved my life..i saw a lot of docs using opiates and they are all fine--so problemm is education and not abuse.

Emma I have migraines neck pain and facial pain since I am a small child. I believe that I cam outthink them. Everymorning, I get myself out of bed by the rocket method. I never stay in bed after my alarm goes off. Or I shall begin to feel the pain. I count to three and shoot snd my bed like a rocket. This is a mind over matter set and has helped me sooo much. However as the day goes onI become tired . I feel the pain more which makes sense it is a circle or not sleeping with pain. So I am looking of techniques to help here as well.

I have been going through chronic pain for 20 yrs. As much as I want to think that I am not ignorant & as much as I want to learn about pain, dementia and many of the things Jennifer says will help, walkkng & exercxise causes me even more pain. This is due to a failed operation where the surgeon nicked my spinal cord. I am immune to opiates after all these years. My mother's side of the family produced 4 diagnosed major cases of acute dementia.. I am recording this but her flow is very bad.

Not interested in having a self-proclaimed "life coach" attempt to explain neurology and brain function. Her statements about her spinal problems are frankly puzzling: there is rarely any connection between disc abnormalities and pain, and surgery is often of minimal (or no) usefulness. Her ideas about mindfulness and so forth are interesting enough but, once again, she's supposedly a "life coach, health researcher, and health policy analyst" (all of which actually say nothing and which could mean anything she wants them to mean). Apparently she's a nurse of some kind but I see no evidence of any academic credentials or training.

I healed pain from three injuries by persuading myself there’s no damage and returning to normal movement with no fear. Have you heard of central sensitization or CRPS? What she is talking about many doctors with education are talking about. Forgot her name this pain doctor in Canada has a CZcams channel with 500 k subscribers, one year waitlist for an appointment and a published book and she is all about nociplastic pain. She explains it exactly the same way.
