I also get lags between two clips. Is there no Option to render the clips like on pc?

Hi there! I usually do not comment on videos but wanted to share my solution to brutal lag (even in 720p) with H.265 iPhone footage on my 12.9 M1 iPad Pro. Turns out that frame interpolation was set to Optical flow, and as my project was in 29,97 fps and iPhone footage is 30, optical flow was killing the performance. Now with that set to closest this this flies, even with effects & a 4K timeline.

Have you been able to find the timeline proxy resolution setting . In the desktop version it’s found in the playback tab at the top but i can’t find it on the iPad

Same here man. I am using my A12Z iPad Pro. But getting insane amount of lag. One way I found to somehow make it usable is turning smart cache on. You can find that on settings>general options>render cache. But still, it’s not optimised yet, since any iPad Pro coming after 2018 is more powerful to handle a 1080p 30fps (including effects, titles and other graphics) video with an ease.

hey, i haven’t seen no youtube video out about this but, if you pull up the keyboard shortcuts you can set the “Davinci Preferences” to whatever you want, from there pull it up with whatever shortcut you set and go to the top one which will be the “memory and gpu” and move the settings around to your liking… i tweaked with that and thankfully it fixed some of my issues that i’d get back then with the iPad version!

try setting frame interpolation to closest instead of optical flow (on by default)

I think Da Vinci Resolve should take more healing on video playbacks for iPads. I have M2 iPad, even with this i work with it very laggy. LumaFusion works far better and do similar work. But for color Da Vinci is still unbeatable. I do colors on Da Vinci and editing on LumaFusion.

Great info! Is it possible to use Proxy media on the iPad? I guess it cannot generate it but if you set up your project on a computer and then generate proxy media could you continue the same project, using the proxy media, on the iPad. (I’m in France where we are still waiting for the iPad version to be released… that is why I’m asking rather than trying myself…)

Same for me, I got the maxed out m2 for davinci resolve. Everything is perfect but any motion vfx plugin that I just bought is painfully slow. Titles are fines, other effects, no. I was expect it to render it once in the background but no, it never plays back smoothly, strange.

@@thedelicatecook2 it also irritates me a lot… i heard everyone saying ipad is too powerful… there is no app or game which tests its max potential… but the day i started editing on davinci resolve from my ipad, the ipad lagging and crashing like hell… I’m so disappointed with the app and ipad performance… and I’m using latest m1 chip ipad
