The outside still looks very untidy and first impressions count. If the lounge and dining rooms were so disorganised and dated, how does the kitchen and main bedroom look. One has to have an overall impression of the house to be able to evaluate if it is indeed now sellable.

With all those unfinished jobs & the Graffiti decor I’m surprised she got ANY offers. The woman is in the Business world so surely she knew dark colours & messy rooms just doesn’t sell. It seemed to me she wasn’t bothered whether she sold it or not at first.

We sold my mother's house last year in a London suburb. It had not been touched much since the 60s and it was by far the tattiest house in the road but it had large rooms, was in a good location near the tube with a large garden and potential for substantial extension and we had a lot of interest - the eventual buyer replaced the kitchen bathroom and windows and redecorated throughout and it now looks lovely. If I liked a house I could see past what is there and just look at what I would like to do myself. We are doing up our own house gradually as we can afford it.

As a realtor, he should Never had mentioned the before. Always talk about the new: new floors, freshly painted (this means new buyers won't need to paint), work finished in the bathroom. Owner needs to clean up the outside area, too. Perhaps a couple of planters on the front stoop

People are seriously commenting negatively a
renovation tv show that's seemed very old to me?
Come on!.. It’s back in 2008. Back then makers did not used to concern outside. That practically needs to look as beautiful as inside is. They cared about just the house inside the viewers going to see and admire & thus show will get some viewership . Designers designs and builders do as per the maker's wish.

I mean, it seems a lovely area, has the potential to be a really nice home, her kids are young... and they have to live somewhere? I know money is probably an issue but she's going to lose SO much on solicitor and auctioneers fees. My advice would be to STAY PUT❤

Nothing major wrong as it was refined 2 years ago with new flooring, but what few little things I would have liked to do first is impossible. And no one is going to do handyman work reasonable. The realtor knows who a handyman is.
I got a list 12 years ago of: Internet providers, plumber, landscapers, trash removal, electrician, painter, roofers, the handyman, and many other needed products.
It was and still is helpful.
My town has a senior resource center. (ie. Meals on Wheels, In home healthcare, making a will, etc..)
In the library, there is a free, small booklet advertising things for seniors, like a 'yellow pages.'

It's a choice you have to make. Either you spend a few thousand on making it appealing, with a view to selling quickly for a higher price, or you have to drop the asking price - sometimes quite substancially- to attract the buyers. These sorts of programmes are quite useful in giving you tips on how to stage your home to sell, even if you don't go the whole hog and redecorate.
