PS1 probably has the "worst" platformer catalog ever. Those games look weird as they tried to mimic 2D with 3D which failed almost in every game tried. Probably devs have fixed most of the shortcomings in PS2, but this generation failed.
Lomax, Megaman, Rayman, Skullmonkeys, … they look awesome for me
