To have such a long tour only in one country after the long Corona shutdown is not understandable. I'm really mad at them.
@@wolfscoat6207 You're the first person I've ever heard being mad at the Maids. Really? Howz that even possible. ;-) But after Covid, bookings for the UK/EU were tough and expensive. World travel for a band is just damn hard and costly right now. But it's getting better. But the Maids have traveled to many countries, Wolf. Don't you know that? And they're going to Mexico in a month. So....

Straight from the horse's (or pigeon's) mouth: "The lyrics of influencer are about the self-approving influencers that are so common among young Japanese today" (really any country though). Of course, Miku is active on social media herself, but worries about people who "surrender love" in pursuit of "likes".
These girls are so talented, and this song is so good in so many ways.......so there.

They've been making me do/think stuff I would never have thought I'd do ever since I found them 4 years ago. The first was to listen to five ladies in maid outfits and have them become my favorite band. Then the sing along on the song "Play" which has yeah yeah's and la la's and what have you. I have become a hopeless fanboy but I don't feel bad about it at all, because unlike those other groups, these ladies write music with is complex and interesting and they have mega-chops and know how and when to use their virtuosity!
You have about another 117 songs by the Ladies to go. UNLESS you add in the alternate versions. With the alternate versions, including acoustics, special intros, extended bridges and solos you have about 160-175 more songs by the Ladies to go through and react to. Considering they are always changing up their songs from concert to concert to keep things fresh for their fans and to give an excellent show, that number will continue to grow. PLUS they are also constantly writing NEW music, even while on the road touring.

Someone in another comment mentioned this about "Hunky dory"...makes more sense now....
This phrase is very close to Japanese expression "Honki (本気) Dori (or Tori 撮り)" that means 「本気」= serious, earnest, sincere" and 「撮り」= filming, recording, image capturing"

The song's good, but it was far from my favorite when I first heard the studio track. After having heard it live, it was surprisingly my 5th most favorite song of the night and the crowd was absolutely loving it. The song is meant to be played live. Certain songs are elevated or suffer (for other bands) by the live setting and this song is elevated far more than most even by Band-Maid's standards. It's a shame they don't have an official live video because the song deserves it.

Band-Maid has resurrected “Hunky Dory Day”
I admit, being a hard rock guy, this song didn’t work for me at first. But like everything else Band Maid, it grew on me. Still not in my top 20, but it’s a blast at concerts.
There are 2 particular songs that I think you might really like, Maddy. Both are bigger sounding, complex, and fusions of powerful and beautiful (like the Maids themselves)
“Puzzle,” official live video from Tokyo Garden earlier this year. Saiki belts out the pain about unrequited love from a married man. There’s a magnificent, heartbreaking acoustic version as well. Although the lyrics are mostly Japanese? Saiki has no trouble communicating with emotional power.
The other is “Wonderland,” also official live video. This one is Saiki’s vocal showcase. Again, the topic of love.
Miku’s translated lyrics you can read online. This one has verses like “My heart won’t be swayed by anything other

Every day with Band-Maid is a hunky-dory day! Hunky dory, meaning fine/good/excellent, was the title of my fave David Bowie album and is an expression we used here in the UK for years but not so much now.

Supposedly hunky dory is derived from the Nihongo word huncho-dori. So, it's very appropriate, I think, that the best band in the world used the term. :D
