Jimin is one of Taemin’s best friends so there’s really no competition there. This isn’t really a dance battle but more of 2 close friends doing a dance collab.

I am a hardcore ARMY. But I have to acknowledge that taemin is a BEAST. He is that one artist everyone (if not most) respects no matter what fandom you are from. I went to a SuperM concert on a whim last minute (friend had to bail and sold her ticket cheap). Only knew jopping, not a SM group fan usually. didn’t have my glasses but even blurry far away Taemin had me going “WHO IS THAT ONE! THE ONE WITH THE MOVES.”

Absolutely, Taemin is known as one of the best dancers in kpop for a reason. He has a bunch of solo videos that really show off his talent (Move, Want and Danger are some of the more well known). I would also recommend Sayonara Hitori (but maybe on your own time as Japanese copywrite can be difficult)

Taemin has 12 years experience as a dancer in kpop... He is even called the Korean Michael Jackson! Every idol respects him a lot, including the BTS members.
Fun fact is that him and Jimin are very close friends and hang out very often!

I have to admit, Taemin is a legend. Him and Jimin are actually really close friends, and they always show their affection for one another whenever their groups attend music shows and awards. I am an Army and I think it's safe to say that Taemin is one of the best dancers in k-pop, if not the best. He is from group called Shinee that debuted in 2008. He is a maknae in his group, but he is 2 year older than Jimin. They are good friends, I love their friendship.
Both dancers are amazing. On one hand, Jimin got me because of his gracefulness (that he expreses with his whole body) and great facial expresions, which are obviously very engaging. On the other hand, Taemin got me with his sharp and smooth moments specially with his lower body (also, maybe due to his physical features I've notice that Taemin can move really fast if he wants to). So, even thought they have a style that is very similar aside from the dance genre that is mainly asociated with certain songs (like in the last part of this clip, when they were dancing to that edm mix, some caracteristiques they have are the smoothness, but also the 'contrast' in the execution (in one moment they do some beautiful, soft and slow movements, yet the next second they change it up completely with a strong and powerful movement).
I am an army but taemin on a different level he is a legend you have to respect him maybe even he is one of jimin's inspiration. His booming solo song titled "move" shinee was very successful in their era :)
I don't think a single person familiar with Taemin can dislike him even a little. I am a hard BTS Fan, but I have every Taemin track on my playlist and if he drops ANYTHING, I will drop EVERYTHING! Taemin is a KING, a legend in his own right. You opened another whole can of worms. Shinee is no joke and they are considered one of the pioneers and are very respected.

He's the youngest member of SHINee (debuted in 2008), one of the best kpop group existing. That video is not doing him justice. I f you like Jimin's style you will love Taemin's for sure. I don't get why new reactors and BTS' fans hate or dislike Taemin, he is one of the hardest working guy in Kpop, he has been training for almost 14 years and he is only 26 years old almost 27, and all he has done is work, work, work... He doesn't compete with anyone, he doesn't hate anyone, he helps everyone, he knows everyone, why?? Learn who he is before you judge him. Could you at least say he is good at what he does, I mean someone with 15 albums with Shinee, and 7 Solo albums in both Korean and Japanese, with sold out concerts and as a solo artist too and as a member of Super M now and still member of Shinee... Taemin is a legend. I'm an army but I knew Taemin before BTS even debuted and the guy is great. He starts pretty young as an idol and is one of the best dancers in S. Korea. His original group is Shinee (a must in kpop) and now he's with Super M (I don't really follow Super M) and his solo career is pretty cool too.

hello dt, i am a dancer and kpopers (a multifandom) but my favorite group are E B S ... i want to explain something to you ... as long as I find out who is the best dancer in kpop for about 3 years, taemin is the person ... from all aspects, he is the best! from skill, versatility, power / stamina, emotion, stability, stage presence, facial expression, to the accuracy of the movements he made ... of all the idols on kpop, I think Taemin is in first place. and for jimin, wow he's amazing ... he's my favorite dancer along with jongup, and Jimin occupies the fifth best kpop dancer on the list that I made

In my opinion Jimin has a special fluidity and sensuality when he dances - his moves tend to almost ripple through his body like a wave right to his fingers and toes. Taemin is known to be a dance king. He's very smooth and hits all the marks perfectly. There's no doubt he's an accomplished dancer, and he's a veteran in this competitive industry. I just find Jimin's dancing to be more "emotional" and expressive. The part where their choreography is the same is where people will decide whose style of dancing they prefer. I just happen to find Jimin's body to be more sculpted and his moves more sensual and alluring - his dancing is very visually appealing. As you are well aware, Jimin is captivating to watch and the Jimin effect is in full force when he dances. They are friends so this must have been fun for them as they don't have many chances to perform together.
MyEuphoria I think you hit the nail n the head when you said Jimin’s moves are sensual. Watching them, I can tell the Taemin’s a great dancer, but Jimin still draws my eyes to him with his sensuality and fluidity. The man dancing is sex on a stick!

But Taemin is the first korean artist that made me impressed with the performance of kpop group. When BTS is still struggling, Taemin & Shinee have already become one of the best kpop groups. I love to watch both his group and solo performance. Taemin debuted at age 14 as a vocalist and the MAKNAE with the group Shinee in 2008, and has since gone on to become one of the best-selling artists in Korea. His age is 27 this year. Even though he is more senior to Jimin, I’m so glad that they are good friends and respect each other.

TAEMIN is one of the best solo artist out there. Very unique style and is already considered a LEGEND! A member of SHINee and SuperM but sells out domes & is quite successful as a soloist. Honestly this performance isn’t a great indicator on either one of their dancing capabilities tbh. Like when I saw this performance for the first time, I jus kept wondering what all the hype about Taemin was for. Till I saw more of his performances and had to eat my words. Guy’s considered a legend by many, professionals or otherwise
This was me! LOOOL, man I ate my words too cos no one is so dedicated to their art of dance like he is. He used to practice until his nose bled. His solo concerts are an absolute pleasure, his stage presence and strength when on stage is different. Now that I know them both well, I want more of that from Jimin. I would love to see Jimin tackle a dance style like 'Drip-drop' or 'thirsty'. That would be a TREAT! I think Jimin might enjoy being more an almost seductive performer mostly though.

@@sanjam.8457 I didn't say anything about jimin because obviously he doesn't know much about taemin, so I was explaining who taemin is. bts is my ULT group but I am educated on other groups too. also I have seen this performance MANYYY times, so explaining to him how good jimin's dance moves would be kinda unnecessary due to the fact that he is an incredible dancer (as everyone knows). I decided to give him a little bit of insight to taemin because he doesn't know him. I wouldn't be telling him about jimin because he is already educated on him and his amazing talent in dancing, singing, etc.

Everybody is recommending Move and Want. Move is a must of course, because it´s iconic. But for a first time, I think Thirsty and Drip Drop are a better example of Taemin´s talent than Want. Want is too similar to Move and in the MV you can´t appreciate his dancing skills that much.

Taemin is skilled but his dance style is a little too “choppy” for me? If that makes sense? Even his solos... I’m always like he is really good but I don’t always get the emotion. Fun to watch though...just different styles.
I actually feel like this dance is way more Taemin’s style than Jimin’s...I think that’s why it’s not one of my favorites. Both talented, though.

But I also think Jimin and Taemin are dancers of different styles. Taemin has a robot-like technique, but Jimin dances in unpredictable areas.

Jimin is absolutely amazing but taemin is an MONSTER when it comes to dance.
Taemin (pronounced more like "Teh-min" although you'll also hear people say "Tay-min") is just amazing. He's literally like a god of dance, like he gets possessed when he is dancing. He dances as naturally as breathing, which is very hard to see in this short video. I'd really recommend you watch some of his other dance videos, in particular the dance practices for his videos like "Move", "Famous", "Danger", "Press Your Number" (dance performance MVs for this one) and "Sayonara Hitori" (I love the duo practice of this the best!). You can also try out the SuperM dance trailer that he did with Ten and Kai. His part is too short IMO but really shows off his popping and locking skills.

Many trainee look up too him and his group (shinee) because of how long they have been around the industry. Another thing is that jimin and him are close friends so the the dance battle wasn’t really a competition,more so a choreographed dance.

Anyway he was suuuper young like Jungkook when he debuted. He's known for his awesome dancing, then later for his vocals as well! Taemin's name is often listed as one of the best dancers in kpop! Taemin is GOOD, but for me Jimin is in a another level, JUST I LOVE his style and his MOVES the Most. He is captivating to watch. I haven't seen any one, who can do it like him

Taemin is pronounced Tae (like in Tailor/Taylor) Min (like in Jimin) and he is a member of the group SHINee (pronounced Shiny), a group that debuted in 2008. SHINee is one of many other groups like Shinhwa (1998), Super Junior (2005), TVXQ (2003), and Big Bang (2006) that paved the way for the newer generations of Kpop the same way that BTS is paving the way for the future generations. BTS looked up to them and were inspired greatly by these artists. Taemin and Jimin are actually really great friends (they're also really great friends with Kai, another member of SuperM who was- and still is- originally from the group EXO, that debuted in 2011. Kind of like how Jungkook has a whole squad thing going with a bunch of other male kpop idols that were all born in 1997 like him, and how Taehyung (V) is friends with literally everyone and so on). Taemin is literally a dance LEGEND, and ALL of his songs are amazing, just like all of BTS's songs (Yes, I am a Taemint as well as an ARMY- I'm actually a multifan, you can't even begin to understand the pain 😭😂) This performance was from the 2016 KBS Song Festival (I died watching that year, just like many other years 😅). They call it a "showdown" but it was actually one of many COLLABORATIONS. In KPop, they have huge shows, award shows, festivals, and events during holidays, especially at the end of the year with almost every big Kpop group and artist you can imagine and they have a whole myriad of collaborations, that the fans LIVE for, and sometimes, they even have the newer generation Kpop artists perform tributes of older generation Kpop artists (Like when BTS performed "Perfect Man," "This Love," and "T.O.P" by Shinhwa, or when they did "Rainism" by Rain, etc. Or like how ATEEZ and TXT, two other amazing groups, recently did tributes to BTS). BTS has collaborated with many artists in these events and even had "showdowns" with other huge artists like Got7 (who I also Stan), BlockB (yes, I Stan all the artists listed in this overly lengthy comment 😅), Jessi (even though it was a commercial), VIXX, etc. And I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I LOVE Jimin and Taemin's friendship because they have so many aspects that are so alike, they look a little alike to me, they're almost the same height, they're both dance legends, they both have very unique voices with unbelievably high ranges, and they're both very sweet people who laugh a lot 😅 . And just a heads up, a lot of Kpop Stans really don't like it when people compare newer artists to older artists, because in a sense, the older artists were once the newer artists. Okay... Ah Taemin, my first bias. Debuted in 2008 in Shinee at the age of 14, had his solo debut in 2014 and is also in SuperM (the one with the motorcycle in the Jopping MV). Listen, he's highly respected in kpop for being a great dancer and performer. Both Taemin and Jimin are excellent dancers and are best friends, they just come from different dance backgrounds and Taemin has just been in the industry longer. If you want to see more I highly recommend Taemin's "MOVE" or "WANT".
I just don't like it when people look down on Taemin. And just by watching this one performance (well, it's a collaboration and they only have a lil time preparation for this performance). You know, they have to consider each other for a collaboration. As you can see the other comments, Taemin is very talented. He is someone with 12 years of experience despite of his age. Don't compare them just because you like Jimin and BTS (and you only know about them, you really don't know about Taemin), it's not good for you. Please be more respectful. He should definitely get to know more about Taemin because he really is an amazing performer. But I don't think that he looks down on him because he clearly said that in Super M Taemin was the one who caught his attention and he actually admitted that Taemin is talented (which duh of course he is). It's just that in THIS SPECIFIC dance "battle" where the two of them (Jimin and Taemin) seemed so similar in style to him, Jimin was the one he liked more, but that doesn't mean he looked down on Taemin. At the end of the day that's what bias means: that you picked one individual from a group of people, because you felt attracted to them in a way and for him it's Jimin, so he will naturally like him more than anyone.

In terms of techniques, they are essentially using different muscles to carry out the same dance, for Example Taemin uses mainly his back muscles to pop, whereas Jimin uses more waist muscles. Its all because they dance different genres. Jimin learnt contemporary, ballet and martial art but Taemin is more of a Jazz dancer

Even tho Jimin is one my ult biases...... You just can't compare him to Taemin. Taemin has been doing this for so much longer and has rightfully earned the title of "Korea's Michael Jackson".

Please put respect on Taemin's name he's literally the BEST dancer in kpop aknowledged by most of the industry's idols, choreographers and dancers but i do admit that this performance didnt really show much of his, while Jimin performed Lie Taemin performed an unreleased song (still to this day after over 3years ) you need to see his solos and his performances in shinee to get to see his real potential

First thing you have to realize is that these "battles" aren't battles at all. It's about friends getting to dance together. Jimin has always wanted to dance with Taemin, first because Taemin is one of his idols and secondly because they became friends. Taemin and Jimin are part of what is called the "Padding Squad", a group of 6 or 7 friends that hang out together. In this case, Taemin was restrained in his dancing in deference to Jimin until they danced together, out of respect. That's just the way Taemin is. He's very humble and respectful. When asked why he didn't stand out more when performing with SHINee, Taemin said that his job was to blend in with his other members; not stand out.
Many people are going to immediately request you react to "Move", "Want", or "Danger" first, but I would caution you to wait, because those are very minimalistic dances and don't show much in the MVs. I would suggest you read below and choose according to what you want to experience.
While there are many outstanding dancers in Kpop, like Jimin, Kai, Ten, Taeyong, etc., Taemin is on a totally different level and legendary in the Kpop world for many reasons. First and foremost, his performances are art; not just dance. So, let me introduce you to Taemin.
What makes him the best is that he taught himself how to dance - no formal dance training - starting at the age of 10. He then attended an open audition for SM Entertainment and was immediately snatched up for his dancing alone. In 2008, at the tender age of 14, he debuted with the now legendary Princes of Kpop, SHINee, a 5-member 2nd gen group, as their main dancer (check out this 2013 SHINee dance practice for "Everybody": czcams.com/video/GUf7hbpmFLg/video.html - Turn on CCs) . So, in a span of just 4 years, he went from beginning to learn how to dance on his own to the main dancer of one of the greatest Kpop groups. In fact, SHINee, as a group mentored both EXO and NCT.
Taemin's specialty is popping/locking. He has insane muscle control - can pop each muscle independently. Although his part is short, the energy and precision required to isolate all those muscles and execute those hits says it all. (He will be the second/middle performer.) Not only that, but the swiftness of his moves and transitions from rapid fire to almost dead stop are unreal.

Best dancing MVs to watch would be: "Drip Drop", "Thirsty", "Press Your Number" Performance Video #2, and for an absolutely magnificent contemporary dance performance, I suggest "Flame of Love" Dance Version: czcams.com/video/TjuDAXT4kgs/video.html This is incredibly beautiful including, as always, Taemin's singing. Visually, it's hard to keep up with his movements. You will have to blip the video, remove the audio for your audience, or pause to comment often as it's Japanese and under Universal Music Japan, but it will be totally worth it I promise. If you don't feel comfortable reacting to it, then it's a MUST see on your own. And, what can I say about "Sayonara Hitori" dance practice? The best word that comes to mind is "Ethereal". In this dance practice video, you will see Taemin first perform the dance alone, then the choreographer (very famous dancer in her own right), Sugawara Koharu, join him for a second practice. She calls Taemin a "dancer killer" in her Sugar Water Radio Show, as he makes other dancers want to retire after performing with him - including herself. Taemin is also incredible with slow, precise, minimalist dancing. For this style, check out his "Want" and "Move" dance practices. "Move" created a whole new virus called the "Move Disease" where every idol, variety show host, and commentator had to try and replicate Taemin's dance. Of course they couldn't quite do it with the extreme precision that Taemin is famous for, but they gave it a good shot. Then there's "Danger" and "Ace" which are heavily inspired by Michael Jackson's style. This live performance of "Want" is killer to: @ Even more extreme than MJ.
Now, at 26 (will be 27 in July) and with 12 years experience, Taemin is not content with the status quo. He is always experimenting with both music and performances. He doesn't stick to one genre but, as with SHINee, slides effortlessly between genres. As for performances, he has some of the most innovative you've seen. SHINee's vocals are superior to any other group I've come across, yes, even EXO. Baekhyun has a fantastic voice, but IMHO, Jonghyun will forever be the best voice in Kpop with Gaho and Onew second. And, of course, it goes without saying that I love Taemin's unique, breathy, sexy voice as well, especially since Onew & Jonghyun are primarily responsible for Taemin's sultry vocals.

I was just at the part where you said Taemin reminds you of Jimin. SKSKSFKFHG. You'd be delighted to know they're besties. The both of them along with Kai and a few others (I am not that familiar with the others I apologize) have their own clique, if I may say.
