REAL-life cute my little pony Mr P spends so much time with people, he thinks he's human. Standing at just 28 inches tall, the chestnut and white cute little American miniature horse comes into the house and scoffs tea and CAKE. Mr P the tiny little pony follows owner Katy Smith, 52, everywhere - even to local cafes for a spot of tea.

aww, therapy animals are wonderful, I bet he brings so much happiness to those who get visits.
Holy sh*t, humans are crazy. The thing with the therapy is very good but why he has to live in the house?
Oh, I do strongly agree with you. And what about that part with cafe or shopping. I'm all for training at different locations and all, but she was treating him like something between a dog and a kid. I don't think that is okay.
cattajk A small horse isn't much different than a dog or a kid. They all have minds and hearts, thoughts and feelings. They like to play, they have personalities and preferences. They form emotional attachments and friendship bonds. They like to be comfortable. He has all his needs met, he has love, he's safe, he's well cared for. And he gets to frolic with his own species and run free outdoors. He has a perfect life.
I know ponies have minds, hearts, thoughts and feelings. As a matter of fact, my shetlandpony recently died. We had him for more than ten years. I love him, and I miss him. However, I do disagree with the thoughts of treating them as dogs or even kids, as they are quite different in nature.
Firstly: dogs are predators, horses are prey - by nature, that is. If you look at their biological fundament that makes a huge difference, and if you take a look at their head and brains that does indeed make such a big difference, that it influence the way we treat them - or should, anyway. For example does horses have an underdeveloped Corpus Callosum, which is the bridge between the two brain hemispheres. Because horses also have eyes on each side of their heads, that means that if something scares them on one side, it usually does when they walk passed it the other way. What that means is that they require a lot of training to be and feel safe in new enviroments. Often, making them used to that can be an unnecessary sorce of stress to them. The horse in this film has absolutly no reason to go to the store. Do you honestly think he is happier to be there, than home on a field and get apples there instead? I don't. And I respect my horses enough to chose the latter. I think it's a form of egoism to treat a horse that way.
Secondly: The relationship between horses-humans and dogs-humans are quite different. Where we've tamed the dog pretty well, the horses still stand strong as an animal with the wild instincts of a wild horse. They hardly sleep, they react with flighting if scared, and still believe that every pond can contain crocodiles (if they're not trained that is, and in those situations, I agree with you; they should be trained to being able to handle those situations). What saved us with the horse is their natural instinct to follow a leader. Dogs trust us more naturally than horses do. But it is our job as horse-people to build up that trust and friendship, so they trust us. I think taking a horse into houses, shops and stuff are an excellent way of breaking or misuse that trust.
I could have gone on and on and on with this, but I think I'll stop here. To sum up: I love horses and respect them. I don't think this is a way of showing the horse respect, but rather show off herself being able to tame and handle that horse.

Samantha Liew Make it heaven. I filled the trailer with carrots, apples, and a few kit kat bars(because he is a sucker for them, lol) and placed it in the middle of the paddock. Now when we walk pass the trailer, he looks at it to see if there is any good treats in there. We are making progress, especially thinking about how scared of it he were when we started work 6 months ago. I don't know much about horses, but compassion and patience takes you a long way! :)

Actually I read a comment from the Daily Mail written by this lady's sister. The story misrepresents the situation. The horse actually lives in a livery with other horses. The lady owns other horses as well. This horse does not spend much time indoors at all. She takes the horse indoors occasionally to train it to be indoors and around people so it can be a therapy horse to take to nursing homes. She didn't buy it for her kids.

+GeordieTerrier Well, Horses can eat meat. It won't kill them, but I'm sure all the condiments and junk aren't so healthy. I saw a video of a pony tracking and eating little birds. Strangely morbid, but interesting.
***** Some horses will straight up eat it, some won't even look at it. Thing I'm saying, if you just gave one nibble, it won't make it flip onto its back and die. If you did nothing but fed it that, then there's a problem.
***** Did you just overlook my last comment? I said it's okay if they have a bite *every now and then*, *NOT a consistent diet of this stuff*. A small piece of a burger, or chicken, for that matter, will not kill them. Feeding it to them as a part of a diet continuously will hurt or kill them.

I don't think you should lose your minds over him eating cake. You can tell it's only occasional and just for the lols. Mister P is one of the best looking miniature horses I've seen, most of them are horribly fat and wobbly on their legs. You can tell he gets the best care.

Its very cute but its not good for him to feed him cake and other human food. Its a HORSE not a MY LITTLE PONY he just smaller than the others.
the first thing my pony does is when he opens the glass door in my house he goes straight to my cats food. which i'm surprised my pony isn't sick but i'm happy that it only happened once lol my pony is really healthy.

A horse I once broke was 16.2hh and always got some cake after a session. He was very healthy and now doing advanced Dressage for his owner.
my dog loves cake and lots of human food, i just avoid chocolate and that's all.
i met horses IRL who actually ate ham. a ham sandwich. MY HAM SANDWICH. HE ATE IT.
