Lunchables beat Sethlon's Roy in PM before in a mirror match. In fact, he even 3-0'd him before. It's hard to say which one is the better player it was fairly back and forth before Sethlon abandoned PM, but I'd say Lunchable's movements are better than Sethlons.
While Ness's Fsmash does have a good disjoint (it's a great smash attack in general), I noticed that too. I slowed it down and Lunchables just started doing a dtilt, jutting his hand forward right to where the hitbox's disjoint finishes.
i think downtilt in the earliest frames extends roy and marth's hurtbox as they lean forward and down, effectively placing their jaw right in the way of the bat. crunch.
Hungry Box did an amazing job, but his PK Thunder recoveries weren't very good. Anyone who used to play Ness a lot should know how to have an easier time making those recoveries better, but I guess HungryBox hasn't got much faith in that recovery. Your chances of not having a recovery PK Thunder thwarted are pretty low so it makes sense to succeed even if you don't focus on it so much.
it isn't about faith, it is about practice. he is a god, he has to remain relevant with his jiggs to win not only money, but reputation. he must stay relevant. that means he cannot afford to spend time on a nuanced F tier. on a lighter note i agree, ness recovery gets a bad rep by a bunch of scrubs who have never worked towards showing its finer attributes. i personally want to be known as the ness who recovers low, using its amazing sweetspot range to recover at an un-gimpable straight up trajectory from every stage.
Jesus roy is so bad. He needs like 200% to kill a ness every time.. Lunchables was playing so sick but it didn't matter because he was basically playing at a 100% handicap.
he could easily have beat hungrybox but he lost his composure game 5 and it showed through his slow movement and defensive playstyle, which hungrybox took advantage of. in the games he won in this set, lunchables had great movement and was playing offensively. really disappointing that he lost the set, making hungrybox's ness seem good. it's not. hungrybox definitely turned up his game later in the set, hitting some sick combos and recoveries, but I really feel that lunchables could have beat him if he didn't get so tilted over the course of the set and lose confidence in his play
hbox is one of the best humans to ever pick up a gamecube controller. he does things with ness that baffle me, like forward trajectory DJC downair, which the inputs on the control stick alone tell you is absurd.
It's full of gimmicks and they made some characters super jank and completely different from their Brawl counterpart (the Pokemon Trainer mons, R.O.B, Lucario) PM balanced the game through braindead mechanics characters had. Overall, PM was shit.
