  • June 2024 - This year’s E ‘Ike Hou iā Lāna‘i was a success. Lāna‘i Culture and Heritage Center’s two-week cultural immersion program is the center’s longest standing program and teaches students about the island’s rich culture and history. This year’s program for students, 6th grade and up was focused on sustainable practices and the culinary and cultural traditions of Hawaiians. Skills-based learning included experiences promoting the bond between life and land. Students started a home garden, learned to hunt and fish sustainably, and more. To end the program, students cooked in an imu featuring locally sourced food and deer for their pāʻina.
The summer program E ʻIke Hou iā Lānaʻi is opened for enrollment every summer and welcomes children from the island and across the state. Mahalo to Kaiāulu Kamehameha Schools, Pūlama Lānaʻi and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation for their support and making this program possible.

Your donation, no matter how big or small, keeps the flame of knowledge, culture, and heritage burning bright.
