@@pablo_giustiniani well, he was actively trying to sabotage him, so he had to say such nasty stuff to the point he doesn't forgive himself for talking shit about cardboard boxes.
I live in México City and on one occasion 2 thieves on a scooter were "hunting" me between streets, waiting for the right moment to approach me, that was when I slipped through the streets and this melody began to sound in my mind, I hid behind a wall under construction and from there I saw how the thieves finally left for the avenue after 2 more laps on the last street where they had seen me, after i finally got home
Y'know, for its time, this was a very sophisticated and long piece of music. 8-bit jingles didn't usually go longer than a minute before looping. This went a full minute and a half.
0:54 to 1:40 My ONE dislike with many game remixes. (VR Missions, Super Smash Bros. Brawl) NONE OF THEM remix this part, they instead remove it. This would've sounded AWESOME when kept in Remixes.
Yeah, however I think it's almost even worse when they randomly change the chords in certain places. One example is the "Mute City" theme in F-Zero X for the N64, it plays completely different chords in some places than in the SNES version, which makes it sound slightly less interesting.
I agree, after MGS5 they should totally remake Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake with the Fox engine. Imagine it with the graphics and gameplay of today! It would be crazy!
A week or two ago, while I was playing MGO in MGSV someone on my team had this running over his mic during a match of Cloak & Dagger. It was pretty fantastic.
when i was in highschool, i use to play this song on my ipod when i was trying to ditch a class. i think i took it too far when i could not get out and i just hid in a cardboard box and waited for the class to end.
i listened to this song about 2000+ hours, over 1000 hours not ranked, still was rank 7 in europe at the end. This song became my life from 2008 to 2012.
A picture of Biehn as Kyle Reese in The Terminator was reproduced as the cover-art of the 1987 video game Metal Gear, which was meant to portray the game's protagonist, Solid Snake.
Did anyone noticed how Theme of Tara resembles "Docks" of progressive rock band Camel (from concept album Nude)? What is quite interesting - this concept album is inspired by true history of japenese soldier, Hiroo Onoda who surrendered after 30 years after World War II. Definitely worth of checking.
this was the main theme I'd always have in MGO2, and the theme I'd pick when playing as Snake in the game mode where it was Snake vs the 2 teams, if not this theme then the Dead Cell theme
hrrrn... kernel... ive been reduced down to 8 bits kernel... theres no definition of my facial features kernel, they could completely retcon the character design for later games...
@TalynnDeRa I actually never noticed that his Codec avatar resembled Rambo until I read your comment. Solid Snake's physiognomical resemblance to Mel Gibson in the original manual and during the Zanzibar Breeze sequence I immediately descried, though I could never reconcile it with his Codec avatar. Rambo, however, is right on the mark. Thanks for your insight.
I noticed a similarity in this song, along with Sean Murray's 'Ressurection' on the Call of Duty Black Ops soundtrack (Starts around 3:10), sounds very similar.
Great era of gaming. As shit and as hard as the games were back then today's watered down games pale in comparison. Hitting select for a codec conversation was soooooo freaking far ahead of its time. Enemies having the ability to communicate that they have located you and respond to your last location beyond just a random bird scrolling in 2d to knock you off a ledge, or a turtle throwing hammers in the air in a random arch trying to hit you with them. The MGS series was a cornerstone of the gaming industry. Another NES game that was ahead of its time was Rescue. Im still amazed at what that game was able to accomplish back then on a potato skin. Its mind blowing that an FPS existed on the NES that was actually a decent game.
I hope you like this song.
Because this is basically the only thing you will hear in the entire game.
Boss theme, escape theme, prison theme, alert theme, ending theme

i love it
At least you get to listen the very cool Return of the Foxhounder during the credits.
This is that game where Kyle Reese has to stop Kiefer Southerland's cosmetic twin.

Just what I expected from the man with the same codename as the boss!
Excellent Snake. Age hasn’t slowed you down one bit
Maaan Mexico city is that just bad.

Totally, sounds awesome
The Red Disc version of this theme had that particular part. And yes, it would've been epic if it was retained for many remixes.

THANK YOU
Love how Snake's running was perfectly in sync with this theme.
Ahah I’m not the only one noticing that !
Same as the guards walking
I guess I'm quite off topic but does anybody know a good website to watch new series online ?
@Brixton Alden thank you, signed up and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it !!
@Braden Emmanuel Happy to help =)
Kyle Reese you're suppose to take care of terminators not Metal Gears lol
He can kill Metal Gears with ease. Yet he died killing one Arnold.
well, she couldn't kill him on her own, she had to finish his job. May he rest in pepperoni
I mean there is literal 2 Arnolds in this game : D
Y'know, Metal Gear looks like ED-209 from RoboCop with parts rearranged...

It would not work without Hideo Kojima
I can't wait 😅😅
Great idea
Unfortunatly ...
That would be great, would continue really well off of the story of MGSV. There’s just one Konami sized issue

xd nice, ps4
The legend says that this song will be always synched to Solid Snake walking in Metal Gear 1
Especially if he's carrying a two handed weapon like the grenade launcher.
I love how the beat matches the pacing of the enemies (and probably snakes) footsteps
+The Fox Laboratory
Few people know this, but both Snake and the guards can hear the music and dance to it. =D
this song is in my mind when i try to sneak into the kitchen to get the last piece of cake without my mom seeing me
he probably means rations.
Probably my favorite theme in the series. I just think it really fits a stealthy, tense mood.
It's so simple, but this song is so fantastic and catchy, and really does have kind of an epic feel there near the end.
1:18 it was unbelievable nostalgic vibe hitting my hearts
FIRST ATTEMPT TO CONTACT OUR MISSING "GREY FOX." THEN TRY TO FIND THE METAL GEAR!!!
Remember Snake, this is a sneaking mission. In most of the games of metal gear THEY ALWAYS SAY THAT!

Next level by playing it on your iPod as an MGS4 reference.

when your watching whang and hear this song "somethings wrong I can feel it"
loved this one on MGS 4. i used to play it inside the mansion where you find Rat patrol.
always played this song when MGO2 was in it's prime...good times

thank you
@VideoGamePlayer the NES version was like an April Fools Joke
Funny you use the NES cover, which doesn't even have this theme in it.
Yep, that version is not even canon.
Its a damn good cover tho lol
I like this cover, Snake looks good there.
Laurelindo Probably because it was a replica of Kyle Reese from Terminator.
comicking428 Actually Snakes initial design is based on Snake Plissken ;) And that's pretty much common known :P
You Come out here and Try to get the Sympy of the People...But you don't get my Sympy at all!
I would never succeed in infiltrating a military base because I would instinctively hum this song and get caught
My favorite part is from 1:10-1:42
this will play after mgs5 credits and we will hear an opening MG1 dialogue beetween Sutherland and Hayter
that would be awesome... but i doubt that's the case...
Begin Operation Intrude N313
What's the status?
hey, a remake of this game with that exact thing happening would be epic. That opening dialog between the two would truly be epic.

I've never noticed the Triforce on Snake's radio reciever lol. Can't believed I missed that xD
I have a friend who happens to be named Tara.
I always hum this when I am around her.

With snake in the new smash, I'm learning more about his games and music. Damn is this good!
I heard this in mgs1 vr training I had no idea if was from this game originally
one of my favourite game themes ever. I listen to I alla time on my iPod in mgs4.
The guy looks like Iroquois Pliskin from Metal Gear Solid 2. For those who don't know, that was Snake in disguise.
WHY DO I LIKE THIS SO MUCH
0:54 - 1:40 best part
i freakin love 90s art like that.
this song gives me chills
Best song in videogame history
これずっと探してた!
Hideo Kojima? 🤓
just know that you will all ways be loved
The meaning
I need a metal gear remake. It would be so badass to play 20 year old solid snake
“Kept you waiting, huh?”
Cue Solid Snake coming out from his cardboard box within the Halberd.
The song is called "Theme of Tara" as Hideo Kojima interpreted the beat of the song as "ta-rah".
I think, according to the iPod description in MGS4, "Ta-ra" were the syllables Kojima used to vocalize this song.
@wazman yes exactly, there is a part of the movie where if you take this image and one of the frames from terminator it is almost an exact match.
I love how Konami just ripped off Kyle Reese
Greatest song ever! Bigboss would be proud
This is the whang equivalent of vsauce's "or is it?" music.
