Brother just a tip from what I can see it lowers the flow but your tank will not have proper oxygen. It will create very less oxygen.

1. Two much fish for an one feet tank/cube. Usually this type of Aquarium use for keeping betta or few guppy only. Cichlid needs bigger tank and others thing please do some R&D before keeping any fish. It will help the fishes to survive.
2. Keep power under the water. Otherwise it will burn for sure.

Filteratation stop ho gaya bhai.. kapde ke block ki vajh se pressure vapas fan se niche filter ke sponge ki tarf jaa rah hai aur sponge se pressure bankar vo gandagi kheenchne ke bajay use vapas tank me hi throw kar de raha hai.. maine ye try kiya tha.. basically plastic ka pipe lagakar usme ched karke , tape se koi kapdta bandhkar but filteration pe reverse pressure pad jata hai aur filter nahi hota jisase fish kuch din baad mar jayegi..
Bro Tera to aquarium to 1 feet ka hai tere to sahi hai Mera 2.5 feet ka water bhi to clean honey chaiye but your idea is good I like it

Mene apne 2 ft tank k liye TOP FILTER Purchase kia aur kal he install kia hai usko.
Magar tank thoda chote hone ke karan USKA FLOW Bhaot tez hai.
Aur mere paas DO TURTLE HAI, Ek chota hai aur ek 8 9 inch ka hai.
PROBLEM YE HAI KI MENE MOTOR PANI SE THODA HE UPAR LAGAYA HAI TANK MEIN.
AUR TANK KE LEFT ME JO POOP PADA HAI TURTLE KA WO KAL SE LEKE AAJ TAK WAHI PADA HAI.
MOTOR USKO KHEECH KYU NHI PAAA RHA HAI. ? PLS HELP ME ⛔️⛔️⛔️⚠️⚠️
Foolishness at peak, if u block or reduce the flow of output its make more load on motor. Its make get easily damaged
Lol the pump should be completely inside the water otherwise the motor gets overheated and damaged easily

Suction tube should be outstide water tank to suck air.
By applying the cloth, you have completly block the filtration. Filter is off no use.
