    I agree that NATO security chief needs to come from the East and also the leader of a nation that hasn't committed to the minimum defence spending should be ruled ineligible. I do not think that havjng a strong voice against Russia should rule out the Estonian leader and I think the time for women to be in power is long overdue. There are several very strong and intelligent politicians in Europe who are women and would make excellent Secretary Generals.
    Whoever this person is who ruled out the Estonian leader in preference to an unknown mild Romanian has made it obvious that he is already cowering and admitting defeat. He wants a leader who is willing to throw Ukraine under the bus.
    We need someone stronger, with an understanding of Russia and who is prepared to uphold international law and fully support the rights of sovereign nations to protect their borders.
    How can it even be suggested that this Romanian appeaser be the head of NATO.

    Do SOMETHING. We hear of 5 fighter jets form here and 10 tanks from there. This is a ridiculously inadequate and piecemeal response that has been the same since 2022. If sufficient support cannot be given then Macron's suggestion becomes more and more likely.
    This seems similar to WW2 where all the usual suspects play their familiar roles. Enough of this bureaucracy. In such emergencies if democracy can't be flexible enough to do what needs to be done then what's the point.

    Hamish seems to have tremendous difficulty with tank names, which is actually rather harmful to his credibility on such matters. Earlier in the war it was a consistent mispronunciation of M1 Abrams tanks that he usually referred to as "Abrahams," whereas with the T-14 Armata he likes to call the "Almaty" tanks (Almaty being the former capital of Kazakhstan), such as at 17:02. Dom's public shaming of his "Abrahams" habit seems to have broken him of that habit, and someone should do the same with his Almaty habit.
    Also, in his discussion of smooth-bore vs. rifled barrels at 19:30, he ignores a few facts, including: 1) smooth-bore is the global standard and is used on US M1 tanks, German Leopard 2 tanks, and will also be used on British Challenger 3 tanks; 2) the reason for this is that modern fin-stabilized discarding sabot rounds don't want to be spun the way a rifled barrel spins them, and they need special casings to prevent being spun so much by British barrels.
    Finally, it's ridiculous to claim that Armata barrels are not stabilized. Russian/Soviet tanks have had stabilized barrels since the 1950s. I haven't seen anyone other than Hamish claim they are not designed with stabilizers, let alone why they would be designed that way.

    • @Orcawhale1
      @Orcawhale1 Před 2 měsíci

      Not to mention the British picked the rifled gun because they could reuse the old ammo, it had nothing to do with accuracy and what not.
      The T-14 also use a completely different 125mm compared to previous Russian/Soviet tanks, so that's completely wrong aswell.
      Same goes for the ammo storage argument, which is equally as bad in the Chally as in a Soviet tank, and has actully been fixed somewhat in the T-90M.
      Honestly, both Dom and Hamish really need to stop talking about tanks, because despite both of them having served as tankers, they know nothing about them.
