    I loved this video! 💖 I used this routine in the 1970s! It worked great to get and keep my house spotless even with two little kids. The book is a hoot to read, but the gold is the actual routine in the back. I do miss that recipe card box system, and after watching this, I may dig out the cards and go with it again.

    The beauty of the SHE card file system is how adaptable and pliable it is!

    There are days that do not go according to plan ... that is why you are allowed to pencil in an "X" on the bottom of any card. When you do it next erase the "X" but after 2 "X's" (either 2 or 3, can't remember) you MUST do the chore card.

    I used the card file system when my kids were growing up in the 70's and 80s. The sisters did a second and third book, Catch up on the Kitchen and The Happiness File. I think it was the last book where they included info about making a card file for your kids. It worked great with my oldest, who is in his 40s now and loves to clean. It was a great way to establish routines in kids. Their files included little reward cards that you slip in at the back of their day's cards once in a while like "You did all your chores- let's go to the park!" Or "Good for one game of Candyland with mom". You add the surprise cards only occasionally and make the kid's chores simple like making their bed, picking up their toys, or feeding the cat. Your daughter would love it when she is old enough. Thanks for the great video.

    I’ve had the same type of slide in my living room for five years. We have five great grandchildren and everyone has loved it. The baby is just 7 months but the other four, even the 5 year olds, still play on it! Great investment!

    G'day, Gabbi! You're doing such a good job of trying to follow the SHE schedule and, especially when you're a mum and you do things for your child, other tasks will get put on the back burner. The things you do for your child are every bit as important as the chores listed on your cards. That's how life is, so just keep on doing the things that matter for your family and don't worry if you miss something here or there. Your little Parker is just adorable. I hope that she will really like her new Montessori wardrobe.

    I did something like this when I went from an office job to SAHM back in the 80s. They were great to give me a feeling that I got stuff done. I think I combined things on the cards as they made sense.
    I think I may implement this again as I’m now retired.

    I did this routine in the 90's. I was a teenager and I lived with my grandparents. Part of the reason was to help them out. Part was because I was spoiled by them so totally worked for me. But I did the majority of the cleaning. It wasn't hard, none of us mad much of a mess. But being a teenager I didn't have much of an attention span for making sure everything got cleaned. This was a super easy system. And if I wanted to leave for the day early and I had friends come over to help get things done it made dividing the chores easy. I have a version of this system set up for my kids. My youngest has pictures since she is not completely reading yet, but this was easier than a paper list for them.

    That's inspiring, thanks!
    I hope you keep Parker as your most important "card". Not that she needs constant attention, but I'm just saying, if you skip vacuuming because you were too busy building a sofa fort, that's a good thing.
    I kind of had a grubby layer over the entire house while my three were young. It wasn't great. I limped along with flylady as best I could. But I tried to keep us up to a basic level of hygiene and meals, but as for the rest of my energy, I spent it on the kids. And I'm not sorry, we had a lot of fun and great relationships. My youngest is eight now and things are easier to keep cleaner, and I still have a good relationship with all of them.
    She's so precious, she loves to help. 🥰

  • @diananore1368
    @diananore1368 Před rokem +4

    I think you will like the FlyLady better. I did SHE for years in the 80s then discovered FL. The difference is a habit waltz. Habit stacking is what the book Atomic Habits calls it. Auto pilot achievement of routines with minimal brain involvement .. I brush teeth,floss teeth, take pm meds because a small med cup sits on top of night guard to remind me so I remember to insert this habit before night guard. When something you forget needs to become established, tuck it into a well established routine. Morning bathroom routine includes the swish and swipe as I straighten sink area and put away teeth stuff then automatically use the disinfecting wipe to wipe down toilet and then swirl clean bowl, using cleaning product. Bathrooms stay nice. Still haven’t mastered paper routines.

      Ìt takes time to set up all the cards...I. used this system when my kids were small ànd I was at home. I am now retiring and am going to start again...
      by starting slow with daily items and build on that, slowly adding new items. So as I make progress, I will write new cards as needed instead of writing them all at one time...this works for me!!!

  • @miameadows8550
    @miameadows8550 Před 6 měsíci +2

    I like the SHE system better than the Fly Lady. Both are great programs, however I NEED the cards. If I have a card in my hand, I can put it in the box and then go do the task. If I have a PHONE in my hand, I may end up going to the Fly Lady app or I may end up on Facebook or playing a game. Devices distract but the cards keep me 'on task'.

Due a brain injury, my brain is wonky which is exactly why I need this system except I can no longer translate how to set up the cards by just reading the book. I need to see it done. If anyone finds a good one, pls link it? If not, maybe consider doing a quick video showing how you set your cards up pls?

    Is there a reason why all the dailies aren’t put on one card? Or an am card, a pm card, and a night time card? Parker following momma with her little vacuum 🥰🥰🥰

    • @miameadows8550
      @miameadows8550 Před 6 měsíci +1

      The dailies are not put on all one card incase there is a need (or desire) to skip one. The reasoning is explained in their book which is a great read even if you do not work the system.

      The system helped me because of my ADD plus I constantly fell behind in my cleaning when my kids were little due to being unable to walk from time to time due to autoimmune disease. No different than using a GPS to find your way. It is just a tool, and you use the right tool that works with your learning style and physical needs. 😊
