Old Prairie Town at Ward-Meade Park is fun to visit. I have been to a wedding there and had my daughter birthday party in the old school house. Many people escape Topeka school system by moving to outlying school systems. Neighborhood schools are shut down frequently.
a funny story about gage park in 1901 the citizen's of topeka had a city park that is not even in the city they thought that was the dumbest thing they ever heard of . they could not conceive of the idea that topeka would grow clear out past wanamaker road on the west side of town
Isn't the Brown vs. Board of Education National Historic Site in Topeka? I hope so, because that's the number one thing I want to see when I visit. Why didn't you include this national landmark?
Oh Eric, in Topeka the cultural stuff doesn't count. Walmart is where it's at. Nobody got time for no Brown vs. the Board of Education, especially since 98% of the residents can't even spell edumakation.
I moved here from New Jersey 5 years ago. It's diverse to say the least. There's crime & poverty here just like everywhere else. There's some nicer parts in the city as well. Job wise, There's plenty of places to work that pays good. Rent is 1/3 of what we were paying in NJ. There's plenty to do throughout the day but unless you're into bars, there's nothing to do at night. It's not as overpopulated as NJ. Personally, I like living here. I make good money & I live in a nicer part of town.

Tapeka is also home town for WESBORO BAPTIST CHURCH... the most friendly and well-coming church of America... who loves everyone without judging... LoL.... ;-)

Okay living in Topeka sucks to be honest there's not much to do buildings are going out businesses are going out there's more abandoned buildings and abandoned businesses and their is actually working business and working buildings there's a lot of shootings throughout the city of Topeka nice here for a couple days but other than that you don't want to live here oh and everywhere you look there are churches everywhere very religious state for no reason you probably want to see Wichita or Manhattan Kansas or Lawrence rather than Topeka
I used to live in Topeka and I literally hate myself that I put up and stomached Topeka for as long as I did. I escaped to Kansas City after saving $2,000 which allowed me to find a home to rent, deposits on the rental and utils. After moving there, I literally started crying out of happiness the 2nd week when I had made so many cool friends and realized I would never see the same faces again, just so many new people and countless new places. In fact, more business open up in Kansas City in 1 month than the entire year that Topeka gains any new business, and that number is even lower as Topeka is dying a slow painful death.
Appreciate the video but, Topeka is not a place you would ever want to visit, let alone, live. I lived there for 20, from 1985 to 2005 years and not only did my Family hate living there, so did most of my friends and just about any stranger you ran into if the subject ever came up. Topeka is dying and has been dying for years. Topeka is actually on a permeate population decline, meaning, it will most likely never regain more people moving in than moving out. The job economy is collapsing so much so, the is a program that now pays professionals to move into the community. You can research this yourself. With Covid-19 decimating local brick and mortar business, around the country, Topeka has suffered tremendously as iit was already in a fragile state business wise. I've read that from early 2020 til now, July 2021, more than 100 businesses have closed, and or, planning to close for good. There are just a few places to visit in Topeka, the Capitol, which no young person would ever have any interest in visiting. There is also the Kansas Museum of History which is very well worth visiting and would take a good 90 minutes + to walk thru and visit. Topeka is a relic of the past. If you're a young person, you absolutely want to escape to Kansas City at the very least.

Don't come to Topeka in 2024. They have durn near every street in town torn up for construction. They had 21st street from Topeka Blvd to Washburn and south on Washburn from 21st to 29 torn up for months. Finally opened last week and still tons of pot holes. Have no idea what they fixed. You know how it goes....two guys working and nine supervisors standing around scratching their butts (or sitting in their gov't trucks running their air conditioners on the taxpayer dollars).

You could go see kc but that's trash also. Wichita is 2 hours away and it's actually enjoyable. Then travel to lindsburg for Swedish stuff
