Ep.11: Lüling's examples destroy a preserved Qur'an!

  • Dr Günter Lüling's 1970's Doctoral Thesis on finding Christian hymns incorporated throughout the Qur'an has been a breakthrough research, Yet, it cost him his career as he was forced out of academia by Dr Spitaler, and into obscurity, until we got it translated into English, so that the whole world could see and read it for themselves.
According to Fred Donner, Lüling's basic argument in his thesis is that, "the Qur’ān text, as we have it today, represents a reworking by Muḥammad of earlier Christian texts that had served as liturgy in a hitherto unknown pre-Islamic Christian community in Mecca...Hellenistic Christianity, including the Christian community of Mecca, saw Jesus as divine; but Muḥammad, in Lüling’s view, clung to the older Arabian “religion of Abraham” and its concepts."
Lüling' believed, according to Donner that, "Muḥammad, in his clash with the Meccan Christians, took strophic hymns that had been used in the Christian liturgy and emended them, changing individual words and phrases in order to bring their theology in line with his own views, particularly the idea of Jesus not as God, but as a divine messenger (rasūl) in accord with the notion of his status as an angel. Lüling attempted to recover the earlier Christian teachings of these buried Christian hymns by making relatively minor adjustments to the received Qurʾan text-in effect, reversing the very emendations to these texts that, in Lüling’s view, Muḥammad himself had made." (Fred M. Donner, Al-ʿUṣūr al-Wusṭā 25, pgs.231-232, 2017)
Lüling noted 4 different periods of Qur'anic evolution:
    1) 'Erstwhile Christian Tests': Because they were historically the oldest, these texts derived from pre-Islamic Christian strophic hymnody hidden in the ground layer [rasm without diacritical points and without strokes to indicate the vowels) covered up by a new opinionated Islamic reinterpretation pressed on the ambiguous rasm/ground layer.
    2) 'Second Sense Qur'anic Texts': These layers of texts were a wilful new Islamic interpretation pressed on the ground layer of the erstwhile Christian strophic texts. They constitute the historically oldest one third of the transmitted Qur'anic text.
    3) 'Single Sense Qur'anic Texts': These were pure Islamic texts, in that the the ground layer (rasm) had been written directly and solely for the expression of the revelations to the Prophet Muhammad.
    4) 'Post-Muhammadan Qur'an Editors': These were reinterpretations of the earlier texts, in such a way that the originally intended ideas of Muhammad got totally lost, leaving a "horrible, almost incomprehensibly distorted text as a result" (Lüling, pg. 11)
According to Donner, "Lüling’s hypotheses represented a bold challenge to the traditional view of the Qur’ān and its environment held not only by Muslims, but also by Western scholars at the time, for which reason it was received with great hostility by most of the academic establishment in Germany."
What's more, Lüling’s intellectual prowess was beyond the grasp of most German scholars at that time. As Donner continues, "Lüling’s impressive erudition in Old Testament and New Testament theology, Islamic studies, and Arabic studies, combined with his keen intellect, meant that his hypotheses were often intriguing but difficult to evaluate confidently, as few people have similarly wide-ranging training in all these areas; reading his work, one often feels that one is “over one’s head” in unfamiliar technical material."
"The revolutionary nature of Lüling’s hypotheses on the Qur’ān and Islam’s origins", as Donner continues, "led fairly quickly to his being forced out of the German academic establishment, even though his dissertation had originally been supported enthusiastically by his Doktorvater and was accepted by his department with the mark of eximium opus, “extraordinary work.” Lüling’s ideas were just too threatening to certain established scholars whose work would have been overturned by it."
"His effort to submit a Habilitationsschrift or “second dissertation,” necessary to qualify for a permanent teaching position in Germany, was thwarted; a number of senior Orientalists, led apparently by the influential Prof. Anton Spitaler of Munich, blocked his efforts to find a position, and organized a virtual conspiracy of silence against him so that his work was hardly reviewed in Germany-and, since it was written in German, few foreign scholars were able readily to follow Lüling’s complex argumentation or bothered to do so." (Fred M. Donner, Al-ʿUṣūr al-Wusṭā 25, pg.232, 2017)
That was until we took his English translation and had it reworked into a more readable translation, which was initially published by the Motilal Banarsidass Publishing House in Delhi in 2003, and now, due to its popularity, newly republished in 2022, allowing many 100s to now read and enjoy his conclusions.

How many Muslims are unwilling to pay the cost of leaving Islam even when the proof of its lies are clearly shown? The truth of Jesus Christ is expensive, and if we are not willing to pay the price, then we don't deserve him.

i feel that mo collected and completed the Qur'an,yet some chapters I feel are from before Muhammads time,in Arabeya language ie chapter Maryam is her book and she spoke that language.
Islamic traditions has that Moses had chapter 2 verse 255 and I take that to be actual Arabeya recitation given to Moses and I take that as a fact.
i know muhammad is real, and i attach the Qur'an to him,in that, all of it came out of his mouth.

Sorry to burst your bubble bro. Muhammad is a myth created by the Abbasids. The Muhammad described in the Sira of Mecca didn’t exist! The Ummayads themselves didn’t become Muslim till the 690’s. Before that they were some kind of Abrahamist judeo Christians. Maybe Hanafis! Arian heretics Or Judo Christians.

Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life.
He who believes in me will live, even though he dies."
(John 11:25). He makes the offer of eternal life conditional on
faith in his own person. This would be blasphemous for anybody
other than God. This is an incredible claim. Does he give any
evidence for his authority to make such claims? The record
gives many details of what happened at this particular day, but
at the end we read, When he had said thisJesus called in a
loud voice, Lazarus, come out The dead mean came out, his
hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around
his face. Jesus said to them, Take off the grave clothes and
      let him go. (John 11:43-44).
When you read the Gospels carefully you will find that
      consistently
      * Jesus talks like he is God,
      * Jesus acts like he is God,
      * Jesus gives evidence for claiming this authority rightfully
      by performing miraculous signs.
After 3 years with his disciples we read how one of them
asks Jesus and wants to be "shown the Father (God)".
Jesus answered, "Don't you know me, Philip, even after
I have been among you such a long time?
Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. ...
Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the
Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the
      miracles themselves." (John 14:10-11)

We need a whole new translation of the Quran into English with all this new material in it. It would also be good to have a text in the original languages including the Aramaic with what the original would have looked like. It would be useful to show it to Muslims and tell them that this is the original Quran that has not been altered. They have a thing about how the Quran was never altered.

Some of the most intense sentence analysis of my life.
The 'Introduction' is where I am at.
Am brushing up on my reading & writing of Arabic.
      JAY :
I want to suggest that the DASHES that we SEE at the 09:03 mark,
should be HYPHENS and read as such:
      "...consonant-dots and vowel-strokes...".
      - the translators wrote POINTS;
however, DOTS is the preferable term.
I have seen some refer to 'vowel-strokes' as 'dashes'
      and sometimes as 'accents';
      however, STROKES is the preferable term;
reasons: vowel 'accents' change vowel pronunciation
      vowel 'strokes' ARE vowels.

But he forgot that native American in America left here for thousand years and had their own language yet they never developed written system, so by that logic no native Indian language exist correct? What is so scary for Muslims is that this proves beyond all reasonable doubt that the Qur'an, even if they are pre-disposed to favour its theological arguments, is not the result of any direct revelation. Whatever taste of the divine comes through is because the Christian hymns give off that flavour even after so much layering and distortion: such is the power and beauty of the biblical words and ideas they draw from.

Many thanks for this fresh series of videos (the theme music of which has always has me imagining Al Fadi salsa dancing). Interesting to see in the video description that, according to Fred Donner, Dr Lüling believed that “Muḥammad, in his clash with the Meccan Christians, took strophic hymns that had been used in the Christian liturgy and emended them, changing individual words and phrases in order to bring their theology in line with his own views, particularly the idea of Jesus not as God, but as a divine messenger (rasūl) in accord with the notion of his status as an angel.” This appears in line with the Mishnaic theological view of the messianic angel, as described by Joe of Red Judaism (now Bei Abedan). I may be mistaken but think that one would need to understand the _panentheistic_ approach to theology (as distinct from classical theism) and the paramount position of this angel (the lesser YHVH) in Jewish Qabalah’s schema of manifest existence, to appreciate both the meaning of the position/role of this “angel” (its ‘sameness’ and/or differences in terms of doctrine or doctrinal understanding) and also to not conflate the true meaning with that of angels of the various orders.

Pour the Manichean / Nestorian cult literature Keriana and Christian /Jewish Apocrypha and Fairy Tales into it and saute. Then pour the Teachings from Zoroastrianism into it and bring to boil. Keep this aside. In another pan, fry the Talmud and Mohammad's hallucinations as well as the rest of the ingredients, except Al Feter and Shehimo prayer. Take the Syrian Orthodox Christian Shehimo prayer and make it into the *first 6 lines* of the 'Al Fatiha' and add. Now knead the above into dough and flatten it into a book form. Add Al Feter copied from the Sabeans and rename it as 'Ramdan'. Take 2270 copies of different wordings and burn all but 1. Then cut it into several pieces and place in front of a table fan. Now switch the fan at full power, ensuring all pieces are well scattered. Now turn off the fan and scoop up all the bits and bind it onto a book. Start at 96th Chapter and end at 5th Chapter, verse 3. Make 9 copies and later 71 more of different wordings.
For those of you who like dips, use never-pregnant Aisha's breast milk, whipped cream 😋, cucumber 🥒 and 7 Ajwa dates from "🌴 grown on the hillside".
The suggested drink with this dish is warm camel-urine beer: Al Lah take-beer.🍺🍻. An alternative is Muhammed's favourite alcohol Nabidh.
There you go -- now you have the most amazing spicy Qur'an for the whole mankind.
Note: For those who like a smoke after dinner, they can roll up and use the white powder (the one Aisha scrapes off Mohammad's pyjamas) as special cigar🚬.
Psst!,,,,Muhammed was made fun of by the people around him by calling him a EAR (= WITH NO BRAINS / STUPID)🤣, because he copied whatever he heard into his Quran - Quran 9.61. Also during his time, people considered Quran as copied from ancient tales - Quran 23.83.
The scribe Abdullah ibn Abu Sarh remarked "Allah, the Best of the Creators" after Muhammed explained the verse about human birth in Quran 23.14. Muhammed asked Abdullah to add it to the verse since he found it good. Abdullah left Islam saying he can also become a prophet like Muhammed if this was how Muhammed created Quran - Sirah Al Halabiyah, Vol 3, Page 90.

Ethiopia occupied Yemen in 516Ad and Ethiopia was Christians and they tried to spread Christianity in Yemen. But by 575 AD a Yemeni kind defeated and drove the Ethiopians out of Yemen and there were some Ethiopians who fall as prisoners and later were solid as slaves all over the Arabian peninsula. Those Ethiopians slaves sure were Christians or had at least some form of christian belief, but since they were scattered all over the the Arabia peninsula and then their children and their children children by the time of Prophet Muhammad started preaching those Ethiopians slaves most likely forgot all about Christianity and became like their Arab masters just polytheists. It is almost impossible to believe that those slaves which by the time of prophet Muhammad were the third or the fourth generation know anything about Christianity even remotely.

But his is only mere assumption. He failed to make any clear evidence to show that his assumption is correct. He has to show manuscripts in Aramaic as evidence for his assumption that the gospel of John is the already real Gospel of Pophet jESUs (pbuh).
By his hasty assumption, he undoubtedly discarded the gospels of Mark, Matthew and Luke into useless books which have no more meaning to the whole Christendom, and hence not fit to be used as the basis of the religiosity of the Christians. -04-27-23

I am REALLY looking forward to hearing some of the original hymns and homilies from which the Quran was derived. The Coptic (Egyptian) church teaches that Jesus was not divine (and so, an easy blending with Islam). Other than that, they seem to track with what the Catholic religion teaches - papacy, transubstantiation, the special priesthood, confession, infant baptism, (all the other sacraments). It teaches a works based plan of salvation (vis-a-vis James, the brother of Jesus). They practice saint worship (especially Mary).
So it will be very interesting to hear the original hymns to an ALMOST Christian god (almost but not).

What source does Dr Jay thinks this verse from the Quran came from?
    Surah Bayyinah
" The People of the Book were not divided until the clear evidence came to them.....,"
    Clear evidence meaning the Quran.
In the tenth century the entire Christian
world were united under a single leader or Pope. The entire non-muslim world was Catholic. The non - Catholic Christians live under Muslim rule .They
    were Ethiopian Orthodox Church who
sheltered the prophet Muhammad peace be unto him from the Pagan, the Syrian coptic,Moroni. There were no adventist,
    Evangelical. Pentecostal ,Baptist.
In the eleventh century the Catholic Church proposed two things
    1. They wanted to make Jesus peace be unto him equal to the Father and both above the Holy spirit. The Father was always above Jesus and the Holy spirit in the Trinity. After all He SENDS both of them so they are His servants .Eastern nations did not agree. The Catholic Church split into Eastern Orthodox and Western Church.
    2. They wanted to change what was in the Gospel accounts
" Hail Mary full of grace...." was changed to " Hail Mary mother of God...."
The Eastern Church split from the Western Church and NEVER came back
despite the strenuous efforts of Pope John Paul.
The war between Russia and Ukraine has its roots in this split. See Putin' s
    last speech.
The Jews split into Orthodox Jews and
Reformed Jews .These are two different countries within Israel. The Orthodox Jews says that the Zionist state is blasphemous because only the Messiah
can found the state of ISRAEL.

It seems the evidence is building up to confirm an original Aramaic source for at least a third of the Qur'an, if I understand all this up until now. I can see how the change of diacritical marks on a tri-lateral Arabic root can change the meaning drastically but I would really liketo see this demonstrated in one particular case. I accepted the idea that a Muslim martyr was guaranteed 72 virgins in paradise but then we are told that this particular word really refers to grapes when the diacritical marks are changed. Given the other background evidence the grape interpretation would appear to make sense but such a tremendous change in meaning puts a lot of weight on only one word. I would like to see a demonstration to show exactly what rearrangement of dots and vowels actually changes the meaning of one single word from houris (= 72 virgins) to grapes. Or have I got it all wrong? Thank you.

Under Supervision of Caliph Uthman bin Affan
As Islam began to spread throughout the Arabian peninsula, more and more people entered the fold of Islam from as far away as Persia and Byzantine. Many of these new Muslims were not native Arabic speakers, or they spoke a slightly different Arabic pronunciation from the tribes in Makkah and Madinah. People began to dispute about which pronunciations were most correct. Caliph Uthman bin Affan took charge of ensuring that the recitation of the Quran is a standard pronunciation.
The first step was to borrow the original, compiled copy of the Quran from Hafsah. A committee of early Muslim scribes was tasked with making transcripts of the original copy and ensuring the sequence of the chapters (surahs). When these perfect copies had been completed, Uthman bin Affan ordered all remaining transcripts to be destroyed, so that all copies of the Quran were uniform in script.
All Qurans available in the world today are exactly identical to the Uthmani version, which was completed less than twenty years after the death of Prophet Muhammad (saw).
Later, some minor improvements were made in the Arabic script (adding dots and diacritical marks), to make it easier for non-Arabs to read. However, the text of the Quran has remained the same.

    ISRAEL AND THE PAGAN NATIONS
    Paul(Rom. 9 to 11)
The Qur'an in the Qur'an(Reminder) refers to the Law of Moses. If anyone couldn't figure out that the title Qur'an on the cover of the book is a fraudulent one, then it is safe to argue that, that person doesn't understand the polemical exchanges between the pagans and the believers not even the content of the Bible for that matter.
"We have given you the 7 oft-repeated verses and the glorious Qur'an..."
    Translation:
We have given you the Fatiha and the Law of Moses as the basis for your legislations in rejection of the Roman Law, the papal sacraments, and Trinity.
    Here is another one:
"What! If this Qur'an is from God you believe not but a Rabbi among the Children of Israel attests to its similitude and believe while you proudly reject it..."
Does this look like some words from God? What was the Rabbi doing in Mekka messing with Allah's revelation? LOL...
Or was he just comparing two translations of the same Torah, one in Hebrew and the other in Arabic?
The dude was a Prince-Legislator, a Founding Father, and a statesman.
"And the stone rejected and exiled by the Mekkan builders had become the cornerstone; it's our Lord doing.!!"
    FALSE REPELLENT
Jesus is Muhammad(the Praised-One), fools. A point was made but you guys missed it altogether due your poor reading skills.
But the adults and the Sufis in the room know that Muhammad is not a given or personal name but a substitute title, a euphemism for Christ/Messiah. Since Jesus is said to be that Christ, then Jesus is Muhammad.
We make the difference between Islam and the Arab-Qureishites propaganda contained in the Hadiths, and the "Sira Rassul Allah," etc...
That marketing gimmick was meant to capitalize on the pilgrimage to Mekka and not as historical facts. Kaabahism therefore is not Islam!
For the "stone that the Mekkan builders rejected and exiled had become the cornerstone..." and it is our Lord doing.
We also know that when someone promulgates a Constitution like the Constitution of Medina, receives embassies, passes legislations, proclaims a tax Codes, raises armies, signs treaties, etc... with some neighborhood nations, etc..., that person is in a role of a Founding Father like George Washington, Emperor Constantine, Cyrus the Great, Caesar Augustus or Alexander the Great, etc... We don't take the word "Prophet" in the literal sense.
So, If you have ever wondered why a substitute title was needed for Jesus and a name shifting for the Arabian Founding Father, here you have it:
"Your people don't want to hear about Jesus. And when His name is mentioned, lo! your people burst into clamor thereby..."
That is why an OPTICAL ILLUSION was created:
We(the Children of Israel) send you, O Abu Quasim, among your own people so that they may believe in our God and His Messiah/Muhammad/Christ/Al-Massih, help Him, praise Him(Muhammad=the Praised-One), sing for Him evening and morning...."
"Remember when Jesus asked, "who will assist me in the way of God? The disciples replied: 'we shall be the helpers of God. Bear witness we are Muslims.'"
By the way, According to Acts 11:26 is a Christian he who believes Jesus to be the Messiah, that is to say Christ, foretold by Moses in the Torah but rejected by Israel.
"I will send the Christ/Messiah, a Prophet/Messenger like you Moses, Him, they must listen...." Deut.18:15-19; Acts 3:22-25; Acts 7 ; John 4:24-26, etc...
The word CHRISTIAN was coined in Antioch of Syria and not in Athens, Rome, or Boston.
In that sense, Muslims are Christians because for Islam Jesus is the Christ announced in the Law and the Prophets, born of the Virgin Mary. You may as well check the Transfiguration in Matthew 17:1-13 where Jesus "oversees" a meeting between Moses the Lawgiver and someone who would ratify the same Law for the Arabs(the descendants of Ishmael). In Genesis, Abraham was promised many Princes for Ishmael.
So the Muslims are Christians certainly not of Paul's Tradition, yet still Christians but the Americans are not...
Every American should know, then, that If Jesus is Lord, it stands to reason that Nature's god is NOT.
Yet, Nature's god in the Jefferson Bible and in the so-called 'Declaration Of Independence" claims just that...
And this is the official position of the American government because Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd President of the United States and is the one who penned the so-called "declaration of independence" which became the Law of the land in the Constitution.
Nature's god in the Jefferson Bible inspired the "Bill Of rights" and specially the First Amendment which states that every religion under nature is as valid as the next; this is why polytheism and Idol worship enjoy special protection under Natural Law which pushed out Canonical Law or Sharia Law.
Nature's god states that Jesus did not resurrect because there is no such thing as resurrection of the dead; men die and worms take care of their bodies and that, most surely, wild dogs took care of Jesus' body.
Nature's god claims that there is no supernatural, no miracles, no virginal birth, no revealed Law since Laws are a construct of societies and each society makes its own laws in accordance with its need.
That the Ten Commandments were not revealed and are no better than the Law of Hammurabi.
For Thomas Jefferson, the Apostle of Nature's god, Nature's god instituted government on earth to distribute rights without responsibility: right to liberty from morality, right to pursue happiness, happiness for all(We wonder how government will enforce happiness which is not a tangible good), and right to life...
Paul, Jesus-Christ's Apostle to the "Pax Romana," on other hand instructed us that Government was instituted on earth by God to keep order, render Justice for the equality of the Children of God in view of the Last Judgment.
Nature's god insists that Life stops here and that there is NO immortality: "Let's eat and drink for tomorrow we die, and nothing awaits us after death. Don't be missing out..."
Jesus said man was born corrupted and can purify himself with the means God put at his disposal.
Nature's god however holds that man was born perfect but got corrupted by government.
We wonder If all the jails built across their lands are only for members of government.
Nature's god is truly Satan who set out to contradict the True God on every single line!
So If you are an American you should worry about the subversive nature of the American founding documents, America's Nature's god, and the fate of your impious founding fathers who worked hard to mislead mankind away from the Gospel.
    Enough of that circular reasoning.
Please worry not about Islam; it has been around for more than 1000 years. I am just wondering If America would be around that long...!!! Worry about the disastrous fate of America, that house built in the sand...!!!

Jay, Muslims consider Jesus to be a prophet, however Jesus himself proclaimed to be God, so wouldn't that make Jesus, according to Islam, a false prophet and blasphemer and thus Islam ipso facto a false religion?

      WHERE?
Jesus NEVER proclaimed that he was God😅🤣😂

@@aaabrams1889 “Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am” (John 8:58).
“I am” is the very name that God gave to Himself when He appeared to Moses in the burning bush to indicate that He is the eternal, uncreated supreme being. When Jesus said this of Himself, He was clearly indicating that He is God. This is why the Jews “took up stones” to kill Jesus (John 8:59).

      What about Adam?😁
Before Abraham was made many prophets existed...
'I AM' is not a name of God😅
And secondly, the context of Jesus' words were about seeing Abraham before he was even born. This is nothing new in the Bible. In the Old Testament, we read:
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5)"
Since Jesus was created from the Word of GOD Almighty, and since also our human-spirits are also created from the Holy Spirit, and since Jesus was a Word from the Word of Allah Almighty, then it is quite possible for him to have known, or seen the records of the future human-creations that were going to be created on earth, such as Abraham and others. After all, Allah Almighty uses Angels, Spirits and other created Beings of His to create creations under His Command. Things in the spiritual realm are different. Existence in the spiritual world, including our spirits, is Eternal. Our earthly bodies are not Eternal. So, Jesus having a prior knowledge about Abraham's spirit is nothing unusual in the spiritual world.
THIS DOES NOT QUALIFY JESUS TO BE GOD😄
      AND ACCORDING TO John,
he clearly says that the Father God IS GREATER than Jesus and that Jesus can't do ANYTHING without the Father's permission
Jhn 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me
Jhn 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
Jhn 8:26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
Jhn 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
So everything Jesus had was from God, from the Gospel to his miracles. God needs no one to give him power, God needs no one to tell him what to do, therefore Jesus is not God.

@@aaabrams1889 God refers to Himself as "I am" 300 times in the Old Testament, thus the fact that Jesus calls Himself "I am" clearly means that He is God. This is because God is three divine persons in one divine being: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Bible refers to Jesus as the Son of God throughout the Bible, but you misunderstand what this means; but if the Bible refers to Jesus as God even only one time, then that is enough to show that Jesus is God, regardless of how many times Jesus is called Son.
“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace." (Isaias 9:6)

When I say: I AM does not mean its God.
Other verses CLEARLY say that Jesus was a Prophet - he Jesus himself said that.
NO WHERE did Jesus claim to be God and his family, his mother, brothers, disciples NEVER referred Jesus as God. Jesus was called a SERVANT, SLAVE OR SON OF GOD (New King James Version Acts 3:26 - To you first, God, having raised up His SERVANT Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning every one of you away from his iniquities)
      >>> Son of God actually means a Servant or Slave of God
      YOUR CHURCH
brainwashed you into believing that Jesus was God,
