- Today Architectural Digest brings you to the West Village in New York City to tour 60 Bethune Street, a luxury townhouse currently on the market for $14,950,000. Despite its classic brick exterior, inside the home is a surprisingly bright and modern space. A double-height atrium in the heart of the home opens up the interior letting light flow through the property. With 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms spread over 4 floors, this property is a relaxing respite from the hustle and bustle of the city outside.

I love the $15 million dollar view of a blank wall.
😂😂😂
These really are the type of architects you want to throw your shoe at.
The only thing I like about it is the original facade. It's almost comical how everything is hidden but the whole back of the house is basically open like a fishbowl! And if the brief was to design something very bland, they nailed it!
It is very cool and quite an achievement. But it is so sterile I would feel bad just walking in it! The sliding appliance counters will break or get clogged with food. Very quickly. The two best parts: the natural materials used, and the backyard. The backyard might be the best because it feels the most natural, the least space-like. Though NASA would be proud of this interior!
Dave: "HAL, open the door."
HAL: "I can't do that, Dave."
(2001: A Space Odyssey)
🚀🚀🚀
Lol, NASA ... Agree!
you are under the assumption that people will actually cook here. The refrigerator only had drinks in it.
@Wally Tiradoyeah if you're this rich and you're living in New York City, you may as well go to a different restaurant every night for the rest of your life
It’s funny you think this is for regular people.
If you live here you’ll have a maid in charge of each appliances in the house
All the interiors looks like the hallway of a fancy hospital.
I'm a doctor and I second this.
I love the yacht design sterility and the open spaces, it felt so clean. I would have textured art but I loved it.
The 2-story living is the best feature! I’ve never seen that before in any NY townhome. Stunning interior!
Great use of space and well designed rooms but its a shame the bedrooms are overlooked by the building opposite 😭
This looks like if someone was inside an apple store 15 years ago to buy their first iphone and said "i want a house that looks exactly like this store today in 2008"
Very nice, beautiful, & great features. I do think it’s a shame though that they didn’t mention more eco-friendly or sustainable aspects because someone who can afford that price point should be investing in those type of things
How do you define sustainable? And why should people be investing in it more just because they have more? And who decides that?
Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this is not a very well-designed house.
Amazing...love the design ❤️
I've never seen someone advertise a space, let alone an almost $15M townhome, with a squatty potty before.
that looked so out of place 😂
No joke, worked on a ~$100m property that had plastic squatty potties and crushed bottles of shampoo. Some items don’t scale with wealth
I had to watch just to see this. Crazy. Couldn't hey have some cute bamboo stool or something???
@thoughts or just hide it away in one of their infinite closets 🤣
Custom designed everything and no one makes a stylish but ergonomic toilet
Best i can do is $14
I'll add 20$ 😂 we almost there 😅
😂
$14,95 and it's yours
I'm taking a risk here
😂😂😂😂😂
The "appliance garage" with pull-out drawers and power outlets inside is brilliant.
I love this house! So beautuful ❤
Marketing the townhouse for a family with a kitchen that tiny just shows the designers never cooked before....
I was thinking the same thing. The kitchen seemed slim and tiny to me, needed more. I guess for $14 million they order Door Dash every night and only eat leftovers.
Love this contemporary flip property! Love that walkin shower, the living room, and the hidden tv!
They’ve just thrown money at this. Custom this, and custom that… Only the red brick gives out a bit of soul.
I didn't like anything about what they changed in the house. And i didn't understand it.
Beautiful. That ceiling cut out is everything 💓💓💓👏👏👏👏
$15 million and you're basically sleeping on a stage. Look at all those windows across the master bedroom 3:38😳
Watching this video was therapy for me. I wish one day I can grow up into a great architect as well.
Hopefully you will not spend your career ruining historic buildings.
Well, I won’t be spending my 15 million on the property! The fixtures and fittings are sublime, but the lack of privacy and lack of character just leave me cold! I suspect it would be the ideal property for a multimillionaire minimalist exhibitionist 🤷♂️
Dressed to impress, but not cozy or homey. I can think of better things to do with my $14,000,000.
the place feels like half of it is just rooms looking like long sterile hallways
I love it, but I would not live there since the neighbors can see everything in the backyard and inside the townhouse. There is no privacy at all.
tinted reflective windows?
even the master bedroom is facing the neighbor's windows across the street. There is literally no privacy.
Some might call that a benefit
privacy in NYC? are you high?hahahahah
@Shawn for that price, you can live in a high rise with actual privacy since the windows will not be facing anyone in close proximity. There is such a thing in NYC.
That's incredible design. Will be reaching out when I become a millionaire to design my dream and vacation homes.
A whole townhouse and the kitchen is TINY!
80s corporate hotel vibes. Patrick Bateman could live here.
The design is amazing in a small town house. Took entire floor made half to a kitchen on the 2nd floor, half raised ceiling to the front portion created luxury looking. Walk up bedrooms floors to relax sleeping, It will be even more tired. The best part is the roof top garden and ocean view. The area for 15M house is worth.
I love the color on the walls, but $14 million dollars? Sounds like a major problem that needs to be fixed.
this is amazingly overpriced. i would love to see the next door wall be painted anything else except pure white and see how well light works in this house. this just seems like a trophy house
So beautiful ❤
Yes, it's exactly as described ladies and gentlemen, notice to the channel: please note I bought the townhouse already so it's no longer for sale, thanks I appreciate it! ❤
You announce “…notice..:” and then immediately use the words, “please note…” in your notice.
Pretty redundant. It’s a miracle and an injustice that you are wealthy enough to afford a $15M townhouse with such poor command of the English language.
Very nice! Though for $15 millions, I would hope I do not face an office building! 😂
The view is the worst I've seen so far on this channel...
Absolutely stunning
What a magnificent design!
Lovely, with wonderful design details. Yet the designers choose to install the TV monitor ridiculously high. Was it designed to be watched while standing? C'mon designers, if you don't know intuitively, read an OSHA brief once in a while. As smart, savvy designers, they do know what height does to optimum neck inclination, but solving the problem was deemed "not important enough. it looks fine in photos." Hoping this "doest matter" trend is dying out.
I also thought that was too high.
Every designer seems to do that in designer homes, the worst ones are the ones above a fireplace. Guaranteed neck pain. Almost as if a TV is considered a bad thing and is only included because it ‘must’ be there. I don’t understand how designers haven’t adapted yet.
Wow! Great decision to open the ceiling!
That sculpture on the kitchen table looks deadly ☠️. Don’t use too much black pepper! You might sneeze and become impaled.
I was hoping for a garage with a car lift.
No garage, no privacy, 2 bedrooms; no guest rooms. Buy a house on the ocean for half that with everything. Beach included.
This is definitely giving me "American Psycho" vibes... I wouldn't even want to visit a house like this, let alone buy it. The lovely view of the wall is just the nail in the coffin ⚰️
Very modern, for sure. The kitchen and the office look similar. Four (4) floors...optional elevator?
The vibe is like an office building
It's a beautiful building
Amazing property
15m for a place like this I'd expect it to have a live in maid who takes care of my literal every need.
This looks almost exactly like the house I designed, like honestly.
that is the chintziest $15 million kitchen I've ever seen.
The entire house, really.
Sorry but this is badly designed and overpriced.
1) Ppl in NYC want to maximize floor space per sq ft. They don't need a cutaway on the 2nd floor. 2) Fill in the cutaway and move the kitchen to where the dining room is currently located. Ppl want lots of natural light when cooking, prepping, and washing dishes. 3) The primary bathroom would have shower controls where you don't get wet. 4) No one wants a glass enclosed toilet in a shared bathroom. 5) For $15 million where is the elevator?
ps: The kitchen is where everyone gathers -- no one wants a galley kitchen.
Looks like a fancy rehab facility in the city or IKEA for rich people
I love the wildflower garden on the roof. And that’s about it… It’s a very austere design. And I wouldn’t want to wake up and stare out the window at my neighbors. I also agree with others’ comments on here about the impracticality of the the kitchen storage covers. I assume whoever lives here is not doing their own cleaning though!
Industrial meets minimalist meets bland = it needs color, warmth and curtains
That TV is not hidden, its a beige Formica wall with a TV inside. A hidden TV would be a wall you would not expect to have a TV.
*looks nice* 👍
Amazing house! Price is probably correct for the location and size. But knowing what other places you can get for this price, i'll skip :).
Exactly... For that much I could buy a farm with 100 acres...
“Appliance Garage”? Lol, that gotta be the best one yet!
This feels like an Apple Store.. which is a praise
Thanks for sharing 😊

That “bright wall” is not the property of whoever will own that townhouse. So if it’s owner decided to paint it a dark color, you’re up the creek. Don’t advertise a benefit of the house which you have no control over.
An homage to beige.
Privacy in the bedroom is more like a local show for the building across. Why are there no curtains for 14 m?
Beautiful
Nice, creative
That luxury townhouse has opulent interiors. It’s perfect to be living there with all great extravagance on the tips of your fingers.
Screams “meh”. Expensive “meh”
Love all the natural light
Beautiful ❤️
Succession 🎉. Not very homey, I’d have to knock down and fix a lot
I get they wanted to keep it like one long open space, but you need to make square rooms not fit three hallway rooms into each level. What a waste.
So nice!
NGL, most cupboards and stuff have an IKEA vibe to it…
Spectacular!
Oh, it's already furnished? Pass for me, my Ikea furniture won't fit.
Engineers designed this house. I really respect that. Math is real. But talk about the aesthetic of soulless over privilege.
😆 🤣 😂 that's 14 wonderful spaces for 14 wonderful families.
If I hit the MegaMillions for $1 billion I"m buying this as a pied a terre.
Though I like some elements of the house, it feels like living in a museum. I don't understand the appeal of sterile, 'ultra-modern' architecture / design - lacks charm and warmth. But to each their own.
Even with the neutral tones, it still feels cold. =/
The design is pure and perfect. I am an interior designer so it is a professional point of view.
😂😂
🤣
The whole place is ridiculously bland and lacks any kind of personality! It looks like a series of examination rooms in a clinic of some kind.
The cabinet under the kids table..... so they cant even sit at it?....... who planned this?
A soulless symphony of wasted space. You should both be proud. (eye roll) 🙄
4/10 just feels like Ikea but turned up a notch
this just proves that wealth makes you soulless this house has no life
classical outside modern inside
I would rather have some acres on Kauai with a huge house and garden
'appliance garage' 2:52 🤣🤣🤣
Anyone notice that the agent looks a bit like Keanu Reeves?
14 mil and im only getting 4 bedrooms get stuffed 😂
The office looks like Starbucks window seat except no view if I live in nyc definitely skyscraper
It looks like an Apple Store...
Looks like an office
Appliance garage, genius!!!!
You’re playing fast and loose with the word “genius”
Fair enough, prehaps it would have been more accurate to call it a stroke of genius, defined as "a brilliant and successful idea or decision"
It looks like airport business class lounge
That’d be the biggest waste of 15 mil ever
I like this but I’ll just take the toilet. Regular ones are no joke during the winter 🥶
im always wondering if places like these have mice 👀👀
😂😂😂 if the neighbors do they do
More likely rats. It is NYC after all.
Roaches as every place in NYC has roaches & rats
@Heather Hansen In many ways than one.
To sterile for even the mice
3:43 Ahh yess.. for the billionaire physicist couple. Gotta keep things nerdy in the bedroom.
Did anyone else notice that the bedrooms have pantries? What's that about?? Preteens who get the munchies in the middle of the night and can't be bothered to go down all the stairs to the kitchen?
It's so patients won't have to ring the nurse for a snack.
@Nunya _ 😂😂😂
Why buy a 14 million dollar house that needs "space hacks" ?!
Great view! 😂
