Been doing this method for about 5 years, absolute best way to catch trout especially large wild ones. Caught wild Browns and Bows over 25" and native Coastal Cutthroat trout approaching 30" here in British Columbia.

With a fluorocarbon top shot my uni knot would fail because of wear caused by guides. I've switched to copolymer and I no longer have that problem. Twitching is by far my favorite method of fishing.

Is triploid fishing good during this time through the spring?

Yes, it actually fishes all year. The Winter months can be the best for BIG fish, but it will fish great through the Spring. ;-)
