    Will it make a difference if we get rid of the return air completely, and use DOAS ducts, Do we still need a relief air damper to release the pressure? In other words, will the economizer works differently if we use only DOAS? Thank you...

    • @MEPAcademy
      @MEPAcademy  Před 11 měsíci +1

      If you have a return/exhaust path through a heat recovery wheel or another method to relieve the DOAS supply air then you're OK. There must be a path for the DOAS air to get out of the building. That can be done using exhaust air or relief air, but you want to avoid over pressurizing the building as this creates problems for opening and closing doors, in addition to the problems created for proper air balancing and the pressure relationship between spaces.

    Is there ever any reason or reasons to have the economizer operate in sub-freezing outside air temperatures? ty

    • @MEPAcademy
      @MEPAcademy  Před 7 měsíci

      Codes often require that the economizer system be designed and equipped with controls so that the economizer operation does not increase the building heating energy use during normal operation. This would obviously limit the lower outside air temperatures at which the design would comply with these codes.
