I'm so scared about my exam! I am doing a psychology exam and I am going to defer my other one TT I cannot believe I am struggling on my very first exam in university. My mental health has also never been this bad ever in my life. How do you cope with your studies and what studying methods help you?

Hey there! I'm sorry to hear you've been having a hard time 😢
Adjusting to university exams can be tough so don't be too hard on yourself! University exams often cover a larger amount of content than in high school so they can be overwhelming but here are some tips that are hopefully helpful!
      1. Prioritise active learning as much as you can (as opposed to passive) to increase retention. I personally find drawing mindmaps really helpful! I'll read up on a topic and try to absorb as much as I can and then draw a mind-map through complete recall and repeat this once in a while for each topic. Flashcards are also a great option :)
      2. Find what style of learning works best for you. I am personally a visual learner and find videos helpful - I therefore rely on video resources to learn more difficult concepts.
      3. Practice questions: Often times, the best way to learn is to put your knowledge to practice. In my course in particular, I find that I learn so much through doing practice questions. If you have some available to you, utilise them.
As a more general tip, try to stay calm (I know this is hard!). When I am very stressed, I find it even more difficult to concentrate and this can lead to increased levels of anxiety and panic. Therefore, it's important to take things one step at a time. Break down your workload into smaller loads and focus on getting each task done instead of thinking about everything you need to get done and risking overwhelming yourself.
Also, I'd like to gently suggest seeing a counsellor/therapist if you are really struggling with your mental health and haven't already sought professional help. They can be a great source of support 😊
Best of luck with your psychology exam and take care 🙏
