I completely relate to this song because my father, unfortunately, lost his life to alcohol. He hit depression, and the rest was history. This song allows me to let my emotions out. The memories of me picking him up from the bar, making sure when he slept on his side, calling the ambulance multiple times. I wish he would have seen the light but unfortunately, alcohol took his life away. He's been gone for 2 years. The hardest thing about losing my dad was that the first year was the hardest especially due to the reason i was completing my last year in college. I did graduate but was the hardest thing i accomplished. I wish he was around.

i think about my dad when i hear this song too. he's also an alcoholic who walked out 21 years ago. i wonder and worry because i have no idea where he is or how he is doing. last time i saw him was at his father's funeral nine years ago, where we stood right next to each other for hours and said nothing. his father was the only one in the family trying to keep us connected. no one else in the family understands how hurt i am by the choices he has made. and he tells his friends only what he wants them to know and they want me to get over my hurt and make my father feel better because he is alone. i'm sorry, i could go on forever. i'm sorry that you lost your father and that things couldn't have been better for you.

I agree with Jesy Nelson. All X-Factor winners have talent and some have very beautiful voices but James Arthur is special. He co-writes and produces most of his songs and if you listen to their stories you realise the lad is really something special. You can feel his pain and his search to achieve something in his life. Most of his songs tell his story but the last one on his Latest album (Finally) tell you what the lad is searching for in his life.
He wrote every song on his album, a lot of the co-writes are where he's recorded a demo, took it to the studio and made improvements, structure changes with producers, writers etc. A large majority of the lyrics and melodies come from James himself. The two best songs on his album were written by him himself with no one else or no changes made. Remember Who I Was and Finally. Reminds me of his stuff from before fame

You just gotta start to look at the bigger picture and open your mind for new possibilities and views. Eventually we all have to lose something or suffer at some point, that's what life and human experience is, that's just how it is. Loss, separation and everything that can be unfair, cruel and so sudden can happen when we least expect it. And everything that happens when we least expect it, will turn into good later. Separation and loss holds an important lesson. It teaches. It teaches us to start to enjoy and appreciate everything so much more and better. Sorry for making this so long, I just wanna help. This song changed me, last year when my friends leave me and every people blame me, I think I lost my world. at that time I don't know what I have to do except crying. I just don't understand why my best friends did it to me. Because I love them so much and I sacrifice a lot for them, even sometimes I lost my identity, I'm not me anymore just for make them happy. Then I got frustrated and depressed, all I know are just cry and blame my self. and after I heard this song, I feel my parents into this. and I realize that I'm not the only one who get hurts, I'm selfish. I never care about what my parents feel, I don't care whether they can sleep well or not, because they are worry about me, whereas at the time I'm far from them and I'm in a bad mental state.

I remember watching the video for the first time and instantly thinking that the love behind the song + video was between the father and daughter but now I understand that it was the love the brother had for his little sister.
