It's always nice to have an idea storage app for your note-taking system. It's a place where you can save anything you don't want to forget or lose including your favourite blog posts, CZcams videos, newsletters, podcasts, pictures and documents. I've been a big fan of an app called mymind which is an AI-powered bookmark app as my idea storage. But recently my girlfriend told me it was too expensive, and she's absolutely right. It's more than $10 a month, which is a bit much for a productivity app for some people. So I started to look for cheaper alternatives. The best ones I found so far are Evernote and Raindrop. Evernote is on decline for sure as a note-taking app, but it remains one of the best apps as a filling cabinet/idea storage since it has arguably the best web clipper among other productivity apps. But it still costs $5-6 a month. So, let's focus on Raindrop in this video because you can use almost all the features for free! And even the premium plan costs just $3 a month! I think Raindrop is a great companion app for your note-taking app like Obsidian, Roam, RemNote and Logseq. But I will get into how you can use it with these note-taking apps in the future videos.

Have you thought about ‘keep’ as a bookmark manager? I have built a database of bookmarks that are aided by pins, colours and tags. I find it to be very useful, especially as it is cross-platform too.

I checked out the data laws in Kazakhstan, and I still dk how I feel. It's definitely not Denmark, EU or Canada private. But, still better than US policy 😆

raindrop is cool, but I can’t export all of my Permanent copies, And I'm worried that their service will be down, so I want to back up my data locally, Do you have any suggestion?

Why wouldn't you (briefly) compare it with Pocket? Would you say it's superior? And if so why?
For some reason, I don't get a preview that opens in split view when I click on one of my raindrop bookmarks. Nevermind, I realized you have to click on the eye!

Do we think this company will still be around 5 years from now? A while back I had all my bookmarks and notes on another platform from Germany called memit. It lost funding and had to shut down. I had all my life on it and had to quickly export everything and it was a pain. It sucks when this happen cause you start back at square one all over again. Just a thought.. hopefully this company stays around.

mymind is dead. iOS app has been 7 months since the last update.
Raindrop hasn't Markdown field for note-taking
I looked on raindrops forum and one of the makers of the app said they didn’t want to add note taking ability because there were plenty of good notetaking apps out there and they didn’t want to compete with them or take away from the main purpose of the app being a bookmark manager app….so while I still use raindrop I combine it with Google keep for quick idea capture since Google keep also has OCR

@Servant Status Ministries Only other concern on raindrop is this is developed out of Russia and given all the cyber attacks from there, I've come to trust no software from from that part of the world.
