Sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
I love these. I didn’t start wearing makeup until two years ago after I took the bar exam and was waiting for my bar results. In about three months I was rouge at Sephora. I realized I was spending so much money for things I had gone 28 years of my life without. Now I still buy makeup but I only stick to what i use and the basics. I have saved so much money it’s crazy.
I ate Snickers ice cream bars studying for the bar exam and gained 20 pounds. It could have been worse, your clothes could have “shrunk in the dryer,” like mine. At least you were cute. 😂
I have been sitting on a 100$ sephora gift card for a month because I keep looking in my cart and thinking to myself, "I already have this all! What would Whitney think?" 😂
MelissaDawn me too!! Lol I had the hardest time deciding what to buy cuz I’m pretty set on everything makeup/hair related. I ended up buying a perfume I’ve been eyeing for a while if that helps you at all lol
When I was in my early to mid-twenties and spending loads on makeup and shoes and clothes, I wish someone would’ve appeared in front of me and said “You’re gonna be in your thirties at the blink of an eye, and no money to use for a downpayment for a house or anything!”. Because I hit my thirties at a blink of an eye and everyone around me has houses and settled and working towards their financial goals, and I’m still reeling from my spending I did in my twenties!
Same! I'm now trying to recover from that. My goal is to be in a place financially where I can afford a condo or small house. I'm tired of having noisy upstairs neighbors. Makeup has always been a big part of my spending. I'm now cutting back to buying only things that are replacing what I use up such as setting spray.
Just a week ago I unsubscribed from 70% of the beauty youtube I watch every night. I focus on ppl who do actual tutorials rather than those who open PR and promote products. Feels better already. Thank you for your content, it’s nice to hear someone speaking with common sense.
I cannot resist!!! I need to put it out there 😆 since I started the no buy makeup since May, I actually have money in my savings account! yup!!the savings acc. that was almost always on zero month on month. And now it is not just makeup but I am becoming a smart consumer 😆😁💃🏻YAY!! I appreciate you Whitney.
So true, not 100% fun now. Sucker for sales. But I want to have way more $ in savings & use what I do have !!! I remember owning one lipstick, one blush, one mascara & eyeliner & face powder. Used each until I ran out. Ha ! Appreciate these tips to keep me strong.
I am in the process of re-vamping how I spend my money. I've been looking at the Benefit Cheekleaders palette for the past 4 months. It's been in and out of my cart multiple times. It's $80....$80 that would probably serve me better in my furniture fund. I legit have all of those blush colours in other brands in my collection. I've officially decided that I'm not buying it. This really is a process!
I'd actually want Whitney as my shopping advisor! Not because I shop too much or spend too much, but because I have a problem with not knowing what to buy, or even why to buy it. I see these beauty videos using tons of different products and I'm like "huh? all of that can't be needed?!", but I have no clue what is actually useful and what is fluff. I'm also insanely stingy and just the thought of a 30/50/60 euro lipstick makes me cringe. And then I find a 50 euro lipstick at a clearance sale for
Perfect timing cause girl I almost bought something cause I was bored uugghhhh I know I need help lol....adding this video to my "before you buy makeup" video list
You’re genuinely helping me stop buying so much makeup that I really don’t need. I have used the same concealer for years and it matches my skin tone SPOT ON yet I kept wanting to try what’s new. I’ve switched countlessly between eyeliners when retractable pencils are my favorite, etc. I’m finally realizing that I don’t need to keep buying, I should wait until I finish up a product before buying a new one. Thank you!
Your content is so on point. Resolving our shopping issues often requires us to dig deep. I've come to the realization over the past several months that I'm definitely not as into makeup as I thought I was, at least not on ME. I love and appreciate elaborate makeup on others, admire the time and artistry it requires, and the collections of makeup enthusiasts. However, I'm definitely a makeup minimalist, like to get a natural face of makeup on as fast as possible, and only need one or two items in each category. I've spent way too much money on makeup, too much time comparing products and swatches, and too much time generating desire in myself to curate the "ideal", large collection, when it just doesn't make sense for my lifestyle. Shopping for the fantasy person you imagine yourself to be is such a strange, insidious habit.
Seriously love your videos! My husband and I are both college students with pretty good jobs, which kinda cancels out the poor college student stereotype, but we're still trying to use our money wisely and build a savings so we can be financially stable. Buying makeup used to be out of control, so I took another goal of mine (working out) and started "awarding" myself $1 per day I workout. If I workout 7 days in a row, I get an extra $3 (to make a total of up to $10 per week) and it's been working great for us! Even better since I started looking at my collection more critically and trying to work through my collection instead of buying new products. Love these tips!
I know in this you're specifically talking about beauty but...Those last few minutes about believing in the process and taking control of the situation to be able to enjoy other things; it's like you were speaking to my soul. I'm applying this to something serious, but thank you, really, I needed to hear this.
You’re so right about money habits and attitudes being formed as a reaction to our childhood experiences. Stacey Flowers on YT has a few videos in which she does a really raw, deep dive about this topic. I think we all went yolo on spending at one point. Once you’re covering your essentials, you have to think of your money not as the amount you make but rather what you get to keep.
I was raised with the idea that you need stock up on everything in case you run out and that left me with so much stuff I don’t use, want or need. It took a while to realize that the way I’d been taught to handle money was really damaging, but when it happened it made such a huge difference. I like your videos because you inspire a lot of people to do the same and I would have loved to have known many years earlier before I accumulated all the stuff. Mindful spending makes me so much happier with what I buy as well. And spending money on me and what I want alone and not with others in mind helps a lot. I love watching beauty videos, but I only started after starting to spend mindfully. When I want something I check tutorials and reviews from people I trust to see if it’s worth the money. Having less stuff, buying only food I eat, having no mortgage and planning carefully what I spend my money on has made me a lot happier.
For me it’s like I went through a depression and I’m afraid that things are just going to go away so I collect makeup. I am the same way with clothes as well. It’s awful. For me it makes me anxious if I don’t have several of something 😔. I have been working on it. Part of it is suffering from anxiety/depression.
Same. I go through periods of retail therapy and recently it's been makeup, even though I never used to use much makeup at all. I just have to remind myself, which feeling is worse: not having something I don't actually need or the lack of money when I actually buy stuff I don't actually need. :(
so understand this, Amy. You get this temporary lift when you buy a new thing-- as if you could buy a new identity. Trouble is, you can't. I try to tell myself, rush to give to charity the way you'd rush to a sale. It's not easy, but it helps to keep it in mind. Also there are activities that help as much as buying: music, walking, gardening, photographing, reading.....
Love these series of videos. Yesterday, I honestly started to look for videos like “how to stop buying makeup” because I honestly have enough and I know that buying beauty products is such an addiction for me. I was so thankful I found your videos but at the same time I’m wondering why your “the only one” ( I know that there are other people talk about this) but none of these people are actually pointing things out. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Very helpful 🤗
I 500% relate to your skincare story! My acne was getting pretty bad so I started buying skin care oils, $50 cleansers, EVERYTHING basically. Then I simplified it with a basic cleanser, moisturizer, and dermatologist cream. GONE! 🙌🏻
You're so spot on. I think another major factor is "makeup collecting". Like buying makeup for the sake of a "collection" of a certian name brand. People may USE the items they buy, but they are buying them because they are collectors of that brand, not because it's something they would use. I see this a lot with brands like Jeffree Star. Or when like a movie collection comes out such as the Lion King makeup collection... people buy the entire collection because they want to have the full lion king collection.. not because they actually need or would use that collection.
I needed this video...TODAY! THANK YOU for taking your time to do this video and for speaking the truth. I've deprived myself from "looking good" and buying make-up for myself for YEARS. I'm 48 yrs old and there are so many products that promise women, whose faces are changing almost every day that they can reverse time. For a long time I just did what I could with what I had, which wasn't much. BUT, then I found beauty subscription boxes! I found products and brands that I never knew existed before that came straight to the door. I fell for all of the promises each product brand made. I have now gotten sucked into so many subscriptions, but thankfully I do them month to month and can "easily" (easier said than done) cancel them. Your video has opened up and enlightened me to so many personal issues I've been trying to "cover up". I feel like I can get a handle on my beauty addiction with the steps that you have pointed out. Thanks again, you and your channel are a blessing and make beauty fun and functional!
I feel like if you started this series 3 years ago before I started my makeup purge, then there's no way I could've done it. You have to find the motivation within yourself in order to achieve the goals you want, otherwise you're gonna keep doing the same thing unfortunately. Now I totally get what you're saying and enjoy watching these videos
Beauty professor, psychologist, financial advisor & preacher with spunk & a heart of 💛 You’re onto something big here & you could be the catalyst to a movement this community has desperately needed! Keep going, girl!! This was SO GOOD!💝
Yes!! Great video Whitney! I can confirm after doing a big makeup declutter in 2012, a yearly makeup inventory and a budget helps maintain balance. What made a big difference was finding what products/colors you truly enjoy wearing and not allowing yourself to be influenced by what others are into. I never want a huge collection ever again, owning too much stuff caused me more stress and anxiety. I still love makeup but I get so much more use and enjoyment out of owning a smaller collection. Nowadays since I don’t shop for makeup too often, I’m pickier about what I let into my collection and it’s actually more fun. ❤️
Please please please! Tell us about your experience at the Dermatologist! Inquiring minds want to know! Also, just something that crossed my mind recently... I LOVE dupe videos and recommendations! Love them! But I wish someone would physically hold a $44 item in one hand and the $20 dupe PLUS the actual $24 in cash not spent in the other hand. I think we are so desensitized to price that it doesn’t even make an impact anymore. I wish someone doing a half high end, half drugstore makeup look would show the drugstore side along with a fist full of the money that wasn’t spent! In this hyper visual medium, it seems like that would only make sense! (Sorry for the overuse of exclamation marks.)
Love dupe videos. One video of makeup that seems more expensive than it is included a concealer that's like the one I use right now and getting low on. The concealer mentioned is less than half the cost of the one I'm using now.
Instead of a budget, I looked at my collection and implemented a “1 out, 1 in” or “2 out, 1 in” rule depending on which products they are. For example, since I don’t have a lot of bronzers, once I use one up, I can buy a new one to try. Lipstick I need to use 2 in order to purchase 1 to keep my collection from growing. In the past 3 months I spent 35$ on makeup....the only things I’ve needed is an eyebrow pencil and a mascara! I’ve saved hundreds and actually using the stuff I have!
This should be required viewing in the beauty communities I follow. I liked your comparisons with weight loss, as that's something I'm deep in right now. I have a calorie budget, and I'll only make my weight-loss goals by faithfully tracking and adhering to that budget. I've also been purging parts of my collection in spurts, and boy does it feel good to open empty drawers that were once filled with "how am I ever doing to use all of this" anxiety. I can focus on what I have, what I enjoy using, and the emotional pull to buy more more more to fill in the gaps is greatly reduced.
totally agree with this--I think you look so much MORE beautiful with less. And by the way your eyes are beautiful-- dark and intense, sparkling, like you. So stop hating on them!
Thank you for these informative videos, my awareness of what I’ll actually use and how much I spend on makeup has changed my spending drastically. Especially when lots of my products were expiring after only being used a few times 🤦🏻♀️.
Ngl, I LOVE to inventory my makeup! My Virgo instincts really take over and I love all the swatching and organizing. However, this will be the first time I tally the costs😳
This is helpful. I’m so glad I’m not the only person who is one or the other, no in between. It’s been a struggle and has literally kept me from doing things because I don’t have time to do everything so I don’t want to even try. I’m a concealer basket case. I’m considering under eye fillers because of getting hollows that I cannot cover up no matter what - it’s more because I want to look “awake” and dark hollows make me look tired, and then I’m not happy with anything about my face.
you make brilliant content! "Owning things will not change you"... that is such a mindfuck just thinking that one sentence makes you realize all your bad buying habits. This will forever be my motto when I go shopping. Just saying "things don't make you happy" is a lie cuz buying nice shit is nice but actually realizing that you don't need it cuz it won't bring you closer to your "goal" (whatever that is) is amazing.
I appreciate this video so so so much! Where was this a couple years ago when I needed this and changed my beauty consuming habits?! For a couple years I was always watching to find the best bronzer, blush, foundation, concealer thinking it would change my appearance and make me look like the girls I would watch using them. Over time I got so fed up I returned what I could return and gave away what I could give away and just had nothing for a year. I then would dive into skin care that didn’t work for me and it left me broke and broke out!! So again I did the same thing I did with makeup. I just stopped using much of anything for a while. I realized I was trying to fix things about me that didn’t need any fixing. I’m actually a very attractive person, I like a lot about myself and let the idea of beauty in today’s social media boom change my perception of myself. Now my skin care is super simple & affordable, pretty much don’t use anything influencers talk about because they don’t work for me. And my makeup products are super basic and minimal because I just don’t need it like I thought I did. And because it’s so minimal I allow myself to spend a little extra on the item itself IF the products truly work for my skin. In total I have less than 14 makeup items in my “collection” and 5 skin care items total.
Lordy girl... I hope people listen to you're words of wisdom!! 💗💗💗💗💗 You are one if my favorite NO BS, No DRAMA beauty channels. Keep it up beautiful. 😊💚❤💙💚❤💙
I'm finding these videos so educating. I'm also recently getting over an obsession with internet fuelled beauty obsession. It's helpful to gain perspective.
Perfect timing as always💜I just cleared out a huge amount of makeup (my neice and her friends were the lucky recipients) & have really started examining items I go through the most. Watching this is a major help. Anytime I feel the urge to get something, I've stopped and mentally gone through what I have (if I'm not home; if I am, I look at my vanity & say "don't you bloody dare"). When you tally up the cost and see how much has been spent, it's sobering. Keep it up! These videos are hard truths and are needed. No sacrifice, no victory 💜
Whitney I discovered your channel a few weeks ago because of the no buy. I really respect that, so I started to watch your videos and today, I watched for the first time one of your make up tutorials and discovered that you are entirely cruelty free ... and even vegan ! now I’m going to have to watch all your other videos 💜💜
I am the same. I came from a relatively working poor family and we didn't have much. When I got a good job I YOLO'd out as well until recently. I started to go back to how I was back when I was living with my parents, an accidental minimalist. Now I think very hard about purchases and I have been on a no-buy for 2 years for makeup and skincare. I also have budgets for clothing and I have a seperate account to save for big ticket items I want, instead of just putting it on credit card. I know it's working as I have zero credit card debt and on a recent trip, I bought NOTHING from sephora. Nothing. On previous trips I was buying $500 US dollars a trip. It's a change of mindset which takes time, but once it changes it will stick.
This is all great advice! My Beauty Budget Trick: I have a set "want" allowance, but I can only spend it at the end of the month (when I get paid), which gives me an opportunity to research and give tremendous thought to what I buy.
I've been doing all of these things for the last year and OMG! I actually have money for things I didnt before now and my debt has decreased SO MUCH. and yes SELECTIVENESS IN CONTENT CONSUMPTION IS EVERYTHING 🗣🗣 it's the best advice I've given this year too. Healthier content habits, like your channel, has improved how I value myself and how I perceive my own beauty.
I just cancelled my boxycharm subscriptions. I have so much that I haven't even gone through and you are so very right. I'm over here feeling anxious and it is all because of how much makeup and skin care I have accumulated. It is overwhelming. I don't know how this got out of hand. I justified with how it always felt good and it's so much fun getting shipments in the mail. Like its Xmas time! I gotta be serious about this. Thank you for this video girlfriend. Time for my no buy and shop my stash and figure out what works and what doesn't.
I have several subscription boxes that allow me to play and try new things. Outside of that, I only invest in my basics that I will never move away from. You are one of my favorite people to watch right now. You are goals.
I am just watching back your videos about stop spending money. I told my husband i am going to do the no buy. He doesnt believe me. So now i have to proof him but more important myself that i can do it. I am not happier with all that make up, clothes and stuff then 10 years ago when i had less. Thank you for al this videos. I think i need them this year to remind myself why i am doing this. What you say about make up that it is the same as food and it will expire. And you dont keep food when it is bad. I love your content. Please keep doing what you are doing. So that we can enjoy our stuff we already have again.
It's very difficult to step back and look at ourselves in an objective way! And that's even harder considering that you are a "beauty guru"! You demonstrated a bright intelligence... I admire you
When you said to list down the things we love about ourselves... I realise that I don’t love anything about myself. There’s always something lacking in every part of my body. Now I understand why my boyfriend tell me to be more confident with my body.
I love the idea of embracing what you have. I love my eyes and I want my eyes to stand out so I spend most of my time on that. I also slowly over time have been ok with going out with no makeup. I have a good 5 to 15 minute makeup routine now. I used to take at least an hour or hour and a half a day. Now with skincare, hair and makeup I only take 25 minutes tops to get ready. I find the things I love and I commit to them for life hahah 🤣
❤️❤️❤️❤️ thanks for all the great advice!! It’s so hard to just be content with what we already have without feeling pressure to pick up every exciting new release each and every week! The new Charlotte Tilbury and Pat McGrath foundation releases are making me too excited and these videos from you are a huge reality check!
Stumbled on your channel on Monday. Friday I came home and purged my makeup! 🥰very happy with what is left because I can look back on the past couple of months where I used most of them. Being a Category 2 allows that
I am on a no buy except skin care. That's a must and I know I'll blow through them. At this point I have so much makeup there's really no gaps in the makeup that I need.
I stumbled across your videos right after spending $130 I don’t have on makeup I don’t need. I have a HUGE collection and I’m so inspired by you!!! I truly needed this, and want to take the steps to stop buying, I need to unsubscribe to a lot of content that is directly related to most of my purchases. Thank you!
I unsubscribe from all those beauty gurús. I Don enjoy watching those videos anymore. I prefer to watch more educational content like traveling, culture, fashion alterations and even forensic files 😂
Same here. These people that every few days have a haul to show is ridiculous to me. The earth needs us all to be more thoughtful in what we purchase!!
Much needed video!!!!! I purged this weekend, and I'm trying to sell what I can and donate whatever else. I want to spend less on makeup and beauty, more on vacation and family activities.
Can we please have this video air on some kind of emergency broadcast systems! You never hear this philosophy in this industry. Love you for this REAL discussion🥰🥰🥰🥰
I hung in your every word, Whitney, and I feel excited because of the new perspective you've given me in my journey towards freedom from beauty products addiction. THANK YOU!
I am so happy that you make these videos. You will help shape young women’s financial lives and influence them to do other things with money instead of just consuming!
Girl you are the realest, coolest ever, a lot of you tubers are so phony and all about getting views whether it's about make up or whatever but you spit the real, and not try to mislead viewers , I appreciate that, I also subscribed and I love your content overall, keep it up, I love how you reveal the ugly truth of the beauty industry 😍😍😍💖💖💖
Love how real u r. I wish I had u in my life 10 years bac😉. I am a pro makeup artist but ur videos r helping me so much with my life and fighting depression n feeling good about myself...sending u love from India....wish I meet to someday in my lifetime❤❤❤
Oh ya I have heard all this before...so then why am I having this aha moment? I get it! You have spoken volumes to me! Bravo! You have driven home the point, made it real and suggested tangible ways to get a handle on it! This video was life-changing and most timely! Thank you so much Whitney! Big hugs!
You have to be ready. My beauty budget is now going towards my holy grail essential products, facial treatments and maintenance (hair color and cuts). I have a mini safe and keep my envelopes in it. If I don’t have the cash... I can’t have it... yet.
These are seriously the most helpful tips so far. My weakness is eyeshadow palettes. I used to do my eye makeup differently every single day when I was actually working in the makeup industry but now that I work in a professional setting, I don't do any fun eye makeup anymore and you know what? I'm totally okay with that. Although I still find myself buying new eyeshadow palettes that I'm never going to use! I'm definitely going to add up the amount of my makeup collection (especially palettes) to help with curbing the "need" for new ones constantly.
I am really enjoying ur videos these days and it is super inspiring me to not spend ridiculous amounts of money on stuff that I already have a dozen of just because some else cane out with it! Thank you
I was watching another youtuber Anne Soul, and she mentioned you in one of her videos, I am so glad I came over here. This is so refreshing and different from what we are being shown. Great work Whitney!
Thank you again! You keep me inspired to stick to my own no-buy. I have purged a lot of products and threw out expired ones. Getting ready to do another purge. I want my makeup more simplified! I have/had so much stuff! It’s ridiculous. I have stopped watching videos about makeup because I think “I have to have that or try that”. No, I don’t! It’s actually kind of been a relief to get rid of some stuff. I donated products that hadn’t been used or were barely used, and the rest went in the trash. Keep these videos coming! You’re such an inspiration! Thank you! 😊
I understand your point about aspirational products that you don't wear, I did actually fall in love with color when I got some to me it's about the color and the fun in that than improving anything
Needed some strength with these new releases. I'd like to get an apartment and a car so I just keep reminding myself these are the important things that I NEED in life. I agree with you about having too many lipsticks; I can honestly say once I saw my collection and knowing I just really wear my lip mask daily, I can easily say NO to anymore lipstick. I love foundation, so to ease into a no buy, I'm only getting free samples. I can't even finish those and so to buy a full fledged bottle is ridiculous. Thanks for the video.
girl! you put some pics of the apartment you want and car you want somewhere you can see them all the time. look at them ANY TIME you wanna crack. really think about how proud of yourself you will be when you have it. doing things like achieving your goals changes your life for the better in HUGE ways. It shows you that when YOU want something YOU can do it. It teaches you that you are capable, can be counted on, and that you have a lot to offer. We all have these qualities but sometimes dont really KNOW what we are made of cause we want to stay comfortable more than we want to fight for what we want.
@@whitneyhedrick Thanks so much for this. Just recommended your channel to someone on poshmark who was in a similar situation. I just said NO to $68 foundation from Pat McGrath just by watching your video. PERSPECTIVE
Girl, you are the beauty guru version of Rachel Cruz! Thank you so much for spelling it out. I needed to hear this as someone just now at 36 just getting into makeup. Thank you so much!
im also on this same journey!!! the instagram unboxing and all the youtubers pushing new shit had me brain washed. i'm over it and i don't buy everything anymore. my makeup buying has greatly reduced this year and moving out products I'm not using/expired, really realizing the style of makeup that i like. thanks girl!
I just deleted my Sephora profile/account. I kept buying stuff because I loved the deluxe samples and sample sachets. I’m an engineer and new mom, I don’t do a full face plus lashes everyday. Why did I need all that?! Anyway makeup no buy to the extreme. Haha. I’m loving this series!
Always fire Whitney!🔥 I look forward to seeing your new post more than anyone else on my feed🤗So funny what you said about investing in the things you want to improve for better return on your money, I did the RDF lash boost and it was the BEST thing I ever did! Instead of spending $2400 a year on lash extensions I now spend $360 a year! You will be happy to know I haven’t bought any new makeup since my last makeup spank😂🤗
I so appreciate these videos. They have really helped me cut back on my spending with makeup and in general tbh. I would love to completly stop buying makeup for awhile. As a college student and a person that works 2 jobs (I dont wear makeup to work I sweat too much) I dont really get to use what i do buy. Trying to cut down my spending in general. I'm definitely an emotional spender. When I'm sad, I buy and just sit and stare at it. I'm getting ng better to not do it. Online shopping is my biggest problem. If it wasnt for online shopping, I'd be way richer. Thank you for these videos.
With your encouragement, I’ve been purging my collection over the past few months. I don’t need more. I need to use up what I have. AND give away what is still good, but not needed. My thinking is changing. I DON’T wander thru Ulta anymore. I don’t reward myself anymore with beauty items.
You are absolutely right, I had the same problems dealing with my skin and hair. Went to the derm and now I have great skin that just needs sunscreen everyday. I stopped straightening my curly hair, saved money and it became the thing I love most about my appearance ironically.
Honestly, I think that way right now. The moment I start earning myself, I am going to go ham on things I want to buy. But you're right, it's very very important to get into budgeting asap
Your videos are just what I needed at the moment. I can see myself as starting to hoard makeup and skincare slowly. Just because I can’t afford them before and I kinda can afford them now, I end up buy buy buy. I should start the inventory of what I have. It might take me awhile coz it’s so hard for me to let go of stuff.
You should be a motivational speaker. first time to your channel and I randomly chose this video (budgets? this will be boring...) No! You had me from the very beginning to the end and I loved it! You are awesome and BTW I also love your lips! Subscribed.
Thank you for this!!! I just cancelled my BoxyCharm. I've been trying to cancel but this totally got me to do it. I stopped the video and went over to their website and cancelled my subscription. Thank YOU!!
The inventory can be an easy first step if you're like afraid of taking all the steps in the same week. If I write down I have 25 shampoos, 10 of them not touched, I have enough to last for more than they are good for Cannot wait for other great advice you ll give us 🧐 The thing about if you can control what you do when you are bored, thats deeper than you d think, someone could put it on a t shirt

God I love that vampiric man ❤
Sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account..?
I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
I love these. I didn’t start wearing makeup until two years ago after I took the bar exam and was waiting for my bar results. In about three months I was rouge at Sephora. I realized I was spending so much money for things I had gone 28 years of my life without. Now I still buy makeup but I only stick to what i use and the basics. I have saved so much money it’s crazy.
aint nothing better than seeing that bannk act grow instead if your collection :)
Congratulations on passing the bar! Mazel Tov!
I ate Snickers ice cream bars studying for the bar exam and gained 20 pounds. It could have been worse, your clothes could have “shrunk in the dryer,” like mine. At least you were cute. 😂
Love what u said 😊
I have been sitting on a 100$ sephora gift card for a month because I keep looking in my cart and thinking to myself, "I already have this all! What would Whitney think?" 😂
I have one too! hahah. I decided to save it for my sisters wedding and treat her to some new makeup for me to do her bridal makeup with :)
MelissaDawn me too!! Lol I had the hardest time deciding what to buy cuz I’m pretty set on everything makeup/hair related. I ended up buying a perfume I’ve been eyeing for a while if that helps you at all lol
@@Loganm0213 I literally just got the perfume I decided on in the mail today, great minds think alike ;)
MelissaDawn I received a $100 gift card to Ulta for Christmas. I only dipped into it last month and still have around $30 left.
Sell the gift card on one of those sites and use the money on something you need or massage or a mani. You could probably get at least $90.
You speak truth friend!
Same! I'm now trying to recover from that. My goal is to be in a place financially where I can afford a condo or small house. I'm tired of having noisy upstairs neighbors. Makeup has always been a big part of my spending. I'm now cutting back to buying only things that are replacing what I use up such as setting spray.
Same darling!
Colour Poppy me too girl me too! 😞
Atleast you are now acknowledging this so now you can correct your mistakes.
Just a week ago I unsubscribed from 70% of the beauty youtube I watch every night. I focus on ppl who do actual tutorials rather than those who open PR and promote products. Feels better already. Thank you for your content, it’s nice to hear someone speaking with common sense.
Maggie Mar yes!! I watch tutorials and get ideas on how I can make new looks with what I have!!
I am with you! I totally loathe PR unboxings- I am talking to you Tati Westbrook!
I am so glad!!! that is amazing. So proud of you babes :) :)
Good for you girl! Great new habit!
Creative Dutchess thank you.
I wish you were my dietician, gym instructor and financial advisor.
And then I find a 50 euro lipstick at a clearance sale for
Hiiiiii you KNOW I'm a fan of these How To Stop Buying So Much Makeup videos! ❤❤❤
thank you so so much! :) :)
Yep, you're everywhere alright
i love these sustainable videos, so refreshing
I am so glad :)
Hey sweetheart i paid my mua course fees with the money i saved after i stopped buying makeup(almost stopped). Thanks a ton 😘
Perfect timing cause girl I almost bought something cause I was bored uugghhhh I know I need help lol....adding this video to my "before you buy makeup" video list
glad I can help in any way :)
Thank you!
Your videos have really helped change my relationship I have with my makeup and makeup spending. Much needed fresh point of view and I am loving it.
yay! I am so glad :)
Shopping for the fantasy person you imagine yourself to be is such a strange, insidious habit.
agreed! and very well said. :) :)
so well said and true
Seriously love your videos! My husband and I are both college students with pretty good jobs, which kinda cancels out the poor college student stereotype, but we're still trying to use our money wisely and build a savings so we can be financially stable. Buying makeup used to be out of control, so I took another goal of mine (working out) and started "awarding" myself $1 per day I workout. If I workout 7 days in a row, I get an extra $3 (to make a total of up to $10 per week) and it's been working great for us! Even better since I started looking at my collection more critically and trying to work through my collection instead of buying new products. Love these tips!
I love that workout idea so much!!!! amazing :)
I love this idea! Thanks for sharing 😄
Thank you so much for introducing me to Stacey Flowers channel!
Having less stuff, buying only food I eat, having no mortgage and planning carefully what I spend my money on has made me a lot happier.
i agree with all of this!! for me its so much more freeing to be bringing only into my life what I absolutely want there and it all has a purpose.
For me it’s like I went through a depression and I’m afraid that things are just going to go away so I collect makeup. I am the same way with clothes as well. It’s awful. For me it makes me anxious if I don’t have several of something 😔. I have been working on it. Part of it is suffering from anxiety/depression.
Amy Schultz I feel you really, if you work actively on your emotional support the rest will follow
You are so smart. I admire you sharing your journey. So relatable!! Thank you!
thank YOU for watching :)
Thank you so so so much!!!!
I 500% relate to your skincare story! My acne was getting pretty bad so I started buying skin care oils, $50 cleansers, EVERYTHING basically. Then I simplified it with a basic cleanser, moisturizer, and dermatologist cream. GONE! 🙌🏻
it was a good lesson to learn. I have bought zero skin scare since march and its like a whole new world for me in these streets hahah
Please do the CZcams Channel recommendation video. I need something more to watch than beauty guru sponsorships and drama channels...
Quickly becoming my favorite CZcamsr! LOVE this content! ❤️
thank you SO much darlin that just made my day :)
yeah okay thats such great advice. i have clear glowy skin and i dont need to cover it with foundation and add a fake highlight.
Thanks for saving my broke college student bank account from unneeded and impulsive makeup purchases. 🥰
I'm so addicted to watching all of these videos. Thank you for making them. So refreshing 👏
I LOVE that idea!!!!! I will def remember that next time I do a dupe video cause you are exactly right :)
I need to try this method!
I wish I could like this video 100 times. Your advice is great and simple. The best things in life are simple, but not necessarily easy to achieve
For the record, you & your makeup look absolutely gorgeous today, so if you’re trying to get used that look, I’m tellin you, you’re rockin it💜☺️
I do like it today just needs a couple tweaks and it will be my new go to :) thank you so so much for saying that :)
whitney hedrick omg so glad you saw it 🥰
totally agree with this--I think you look so much MORE beautiful with less. And by the way your eyes are beautiful-- dark and intense, sparkling, like you. So stop hating on them!
I just now found this video. I needed to hear this! My lipstick collection is ridiculous!!!! THANK YOU💗
Your eyes are BEAUTIFUL
Tennessee girl here😍
Thank you for these informative videos, my awareness of what I’ll actually use and how much I spend on makeup has changed my spending drastically. Especially when lots of my products were expiring after only being used a few times 🤦🏻♀️.
that is the worst!!! Im on a one woman mission to shut that shit down :)
You are a breath of fresh air in this community! I love your videos ! Keep up the great content !! 💕
i def will :)
You are goals.
thank you so so much babes :)
Love, love this. Budgeting is so important in all areas of life. Financial security depends on it.
Now I understand why my boyfriend tell me to be more confident with my body.
me too! All I could come up with was my smile
Rewatching this video to remind myself not to give in to the temptation of online shopping right now. Thank you Whitney!
I prefer to watch more educational content like traveling, culture, fashion alterations and even forensic files 😂
me to girl! I'm all OVER the place with my youtube i like to watch :)
Same here. These people that every few days have a haul to show is ridiculous to me. The earth needs us all to be more thoughtful in what we purchase!!
I don't watch as many new product beauty videos these days. If I do, I watch while thinking "What do I already have that's similar?"
Which beauty gurús are you still subscribed too? I feel like all the ones I have open PR or just promoto. Suggestions?
You have helped me enormously to curb the impulsive make up purchases that I have done in the past....thank you 💕
Girl you are the realest, coolest ever, a lot of you tubers are so phony and all about getting views whether it's about make up or whatever but you spit the real, and not try to mislead viewers , I appreciate that, I also subscribed and I love your content overall, keep it up, I love how you reveal the ugly truth of the beauty industry 😍😍😍💖💖💖
Love how real u r. I wish I had u in my life 10 years bac😉. I am a pro makeup artist but ur videos r helping me so much with my life and fighting depression n feeling good about myself...sending u love from India....wish I meet to someday in my lifetime❤❤❤
Just ran into your great tutorials.....binge? YES! Only thing missing.....product lists!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.
Love these videos. Please keep them coming. Applying this to other parts of my life too. Thank you for doing these much needed videos.
I need to start promoting you!!! Every woman in America must watch this 😍❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Needed some strength with these new releases.
We learn it so late unfortunately 😩
Keep the wisdom coming, girl!! You rock ♥️
I love these tips but girlll all I can think is what’s on your lips because I need that color 😩🤣😍
Thank YOU!!
I canceled too, after watching you. No more beauty subscriptions at all.
The inventory can be an easy first step if you're like afraid of taking all the steps in the same week. If I write down I have 25 shampoos, 10 of them not touched, I have enough to last for more than they are good for
Cannot wait for other great advice you ll give us 🧐
The thing about if you can control what you do when you are bored, thats deeper than you d think, someone could put it on a t shirt
This is my favorite beauty channel that is anti beauty channel!! 😆❤️
I’m so glad I found your channel! Girl you are everything I needed to hear! 😁 thank you for the wise words. 🤓
Seriously just discovered your channel and I’ve been binge watching a lot of your videos and whoa what a wake up call
Thank you so much for this series. I have legit saved more money since I started watching you.
