who else just stared at the cooler wondering if it was going to melt because it was touching the grill??
Oh I definitely melted that cooler 🤦♂️. Got carried away with filming.
That’s all I see!
@@JimsRetroStuff I know it's sad too bc that thing is vintage!
@@JohnnyBrunetat least you didn’t catch the chair on fire!
@@JimsRetroStuff true lol.
Just purchased a Blackstone 36 base model last friday for $250 at Tractor Supply!
Seasone her up per your video and cooked easter dinner yesterday, a family member had to work today (Easter).
The first thing I cooked was 5 sliced onions, Blackstone Betty recommended this...I have also seen other cooks use onions to make regular fryin pans "non-stick".
We made the following on the flat top.
Griddle seared scallops and onion fried rice w/ scallops
Bang bang Cajun shrimp...really good!
griddle green beans
smashed potaoes (boiled first)
and a lot caramelized onions
Everything came out very good and it was GREAT having all that cookin surface (and mess) outside!
Thanks for videos!!!
Wow that's a heck of a deal!!! I haven't seen the 4 burner under $300 for a while. Also it sounds like you broke that thing in right! The onion trick from Blackstone Betty is amazing, I think it really sets the griddle up for success. Thanks so much for watching the videos and congrats on your new griddle.
Just cleaned the rust from mine took me only three minutes. Yep three minutes. It’s really really easy. Just buy a new grill to open box set on. There all done and easy peezy
Keep these videos coming, man. I’ve enjoyed watching them. I have theee kids, so I like seeing you get help from your little helper.
Thanks! Will do!
Happy Easter Johnny! Brought my griddle out of hibernation a week before spring began. Once spring became official, it has been barely over 40 here in western PA! Since I "winterized" my Blackstone, I hit the ground running and started feasting immediately. Once again you posted a helpful and informative video. THANKS!
Im glad it paid off to winterize your griddle. I hope you and your family also had a great easter. Thanks Bill
Great video and I agree Blackstone is high on their stuff but some of it great quality.
Your videos are the best. We learn, we laugh (OJ glove). Before you know it, we're smarter and smiling. Keep up the good work Johnny!
Thanks so much!!
Almost to 100k, heck, yeah, brother.
Thanks buddy.
Howdy Johnny, was gonna ask about the cooler however some of the other followers beat me to it...."Happy Little Accidents". Nice to see you prepping the Blackstone for cooking. It will be amazing to see you cooking on your Camp Chef and the Blackstone simultaneously. Nothing wrong with cooking in the garage as long as the door is open, other than the grease that will accumulate on the door and ceiling. Have A Day! ;~)
Oh ya I completely melted the side lol and that's a great idea, I should get both griddle fired up simultaneously.
I got tired of the rust from cast iron and went with the Pit Boss Sierra ceramic coated non-stick! Best decision EVER 👍👍
That's good to know Bill. I've never used the ceramic ones
Ceramic is like a non stick pan vs cast iron I vote original griddle top all day
Blackstones are not cast iron, they are rolled steel, but still subject to rust.
Subbed just for the humor.
Thanks so much.
Looks like you’re chillin’ in the burbs these days. Just seasoned a new grill today! Cheers!
Congrats on the new griddle!! and yes I 'm just a suburban dad now lol.
I griddle I’m my shop. I do agree with you on that because it’s not so much the fumes, but the grease film gets on everything. Same thing thing on my mother in law’s screened in deck.
That's a great point about the grease build up. I haven't done it long enough for that to happen yet in the garage.
Thanks Johnny. That scraper is nice because it has a beveled edge. I need to get one. The one that came in my grilling kit doesn't have beveled edge. Which is especially needed when grilling smash burgers etc.
Yes the beveled edge is definetly key.
Happy Easter Johnny. That was a great video. Made me laugh LOL. I cook in the garage all winter long with the door open obviously. I even installed lights on the garage door so when it’s open, it lights up my cooking area perfectly.
Hey Shane I hope you and your family had a great Easter as well. That sounds like you have a pretty sweet set up my friend.
@@JohnnyBrunet thanks. Yes we did. It was my wife’s birthday so really, we celebrated her mostly but had a great time. I’ll send you a pic on FB since I can’t do it here.
@@shaneharvey6767 sounds good buddy.
Very educational and entertaining! Thanks Johnny! Will be getting mine ready in a couple of weeks. Recovering from major back surgery. Happy Easter and again, congrats on the new house!
You're welcome Dennis, thanks for watching buddy.
Happy Easter and congratulations on the new house Johnny. Its time for me to give my ceramic griddle a good cleaning
Thanks Guy! I hope you also had a great Easter.
Johnny, Don't think of it as a garage. It is your Command Center. Hang an old TV on a wall, build a work bench and add a couple of stools for you and lucky Command Center guests. Also add an appropriately stocked cooler. Then you can plan worldwide griddle domination.
There we go! I like the way you think. Ya I already got my eye on a couple of fridges.
Great! This new guy moves into the neighborhood and brings 95k followers with him. LOL!
😂😂😂😂
I enjoyed this tutorial. I have questioned many people as to why my griddle always cooks black. I must get a pumice stone and do some cleaning.
ya definetly try a pumice stone, I think that will solve your problem.
Happy Easter Johnny and family .remember what Joe Pesci said about the drive in ? Well that's what Blackstone it should have been 9 piece set , after all it came in a box . THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA.......
😂😆😆😆Thanks Frank. I hop you had a great Easter as well my friend.
Nice vid. Where's the Camp Chef? Two thoughts when your griddle is rusty. Throw it out and buy another or scrape the rust off, heat the grill slightly, put oil on it and use a Scotchbrite scouring pad and scrub it. Or use an orbital sander. That BS kit is expensive. thanks for the vid.
Ya the orbital sander is the way to go if you have one. The camp chef is fine it's outside. I just had this one I got off Fb marketplace and wanted to clean it up.
I redid my blackstone with a hand grinder with wire wheel and a belt sander and about 4 beers. 😂😂😂 great tutorial on how to reseason
Thanks! And that sounds a lot easier. I think I need to buy some more tools.
@JohnnyBrunet with the wire wheel at high rpm you have to be careful when you get near the sides because it will bounce off and come back at you. also wear safety glasses and a heavy shirt as the little wires can fly out of the wheel and get stuck in your shirt.
Excellent video. Thanks for posting!
Thank you, glad you liked it.
I use the blue Scott’s towels. They’re cheaper at the Dollar General and the cost may be the same in the long run but you use less towels.
Thanks Gene I need to buys one of those Scott's towels.
Someone told me when they don't use their griddle often they put a light layer of oil on it and lay Seran wrap on the griddle to protect the surface. Not sure if this works but I'm going to try it.
Now that you have a garage, invest in a beer fridge, but then your wife and son will have to go to the garage to see you. Good information, thanks.
Oh a beer fridge and a meat freezer for the garage are on the top of my list! 😁
Hey Johnny, how ya been. I'm in Texas and do not have the issue of snow and I am able to use my griddle all year long. Love my Camp Chef 36" Isn't that Monjey Garage beer and cool background music. So what was your last cook?? Mine was some catfish fillers. Thanks for the video and GRIDDLE ON DUDE.
Oh catfish that sounds good. My last cook was cheese steaks. It isn't cold but man we keep getting rain here in Ohio and I haven't been able to get out back. I can't wait for this weather to clear up.
I missed that you got a Blackstone, or maybe you have had one for a while?
I've actually had this two burner for a while. I really only use it for two burner specific videos. And in this scenario when I needed to restore it.
Just what I needed. My poor griddle is covered in rust. I had the cover down and an expensive cover on it and it still rusted. What’s your opinion on those silicone mats that are now available ?
I did a post in my community tab about it. People gave there experience with it. For me it was extra work Everytime I cooked and I didn't think it was worth it. But some people claim it helped them prevent rust so maybe it's a good option. Go to my page and click on community and you'll see the post.
Did you ever clean 'em at Bob Evans.....or they just got used 16hrs a day?
Ya at the end of the night we always cleaned them. They were so big and it was a pain.
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome!
If it doesn't fit, you must acquit
😂😂😂😂😂
You can buy a lot of beer for $30 bucks ……hello…lol
Amen.
I watched this entire thing and I'm still totally confused....
SO, is this a 3 beer project, or a 3 beer plus 1 beer project?!
Did you melt your cooler
Oh ya! 🤦♂️🤣
Agree on price… looks like you got it cleaned up nice though
Thanks Jason.
There is a silicone mat that can be placed on top of the griddle when not in use. Is it a gimmicky purchase or worth getting?
I bought one and stoped using it because it was kind of a hassle. I don't know if it's worth it or not. If you go my page and hit the community tab I did a post asking about it and a bunch of people commented with there opinion.
@@JohnnyBrunet ok. I will check it out. Thank you.
I myself have found something way easier, Heat the griddle, use the griddle, clean the griddle, cool griddle, take off, and store in a dry place.
ya taking off the top and storing it each time is definetly the best way to go.
cover the base with a tarp and bungees. @@JohnnyBrunet
i thought for sure that wooden chair would catch fire, because its near a griddle...
You would think they would include their seasoning oil also for 30 bucks ,
very true jeremy.
That beer cooler is a little too close to griddle...
Oh I melted it for sure 🤦♂️
why isn't cooking/cleaning the griddle in the garage any different than cooking with a gas/propane stove in the kitchen? i use water and the scraper every time. the stone is good too. Can you say Walmart......lol. wire brush comes in handy sometimes too.....blackstone seasoning is good.....i use crisco too.
ya the wire brush is definetly the way to go when it's really bad. I don't know exactly why its frowned upon and I'm not expert. But my guess would be greases build up on the walls in the garage. And if there was a flar up or some sort of large fire you are now going to catch your garage and house on fire rather than just your back deck. Again that's just my guess I really have no idea why they say not to. I obviously do it every now and then.
@@JohnnyBrunet i have mine on a screen porch, keeps it and me out of the rain.
I bought that set & the scraper is garbage. It bent at the handle when scraping.
oh dang that sucks. It felt good to me but I've only used it once so maybe it's just a matter of time. I don't think it was worth the money though. I think you could def get a reall nice scrapper and all the other stuff for less. Thanks for the feed back about your experience with it.
Ok so it’s a 3 beer job 👍 😂
for me, if you need more beers I fully support your decision 😆
Don’t melt the cooler!!!🍺🍺🍺
Oh I totally did Steve.
OJ glove. 😅🤣😂
🤣🤣
You talk way too much
What do you want a pantomime video?
Should he mime the whole thing so your underdeveloped little brain can handle it?
Get lost.
You must be new. Calm down man. Just enjoy the video.
Thanks for watching. I have ine that's shorter and more to the point right here.
