I respect the creator's decision to add or not add music. After all, we have volume control on our end. So, I just enjoy the content or leave the channel.
Like it! Some of my favorite mods: roll the op down for a stiffer and finished edge; run the laces through a single wooden bead for a closure; stitch in a circle at the base for a larger volume and a bag that stands well; or, run a gusset between the two halves for extra volume; make one side of the gusset extra long to double back on itself for a belt loop: stitch up four pieces instead of two for a larger bag; stitch the middle of the lace in to the back of the bag; number of lace holes is divisible by 4. Pouches are fun to make and are good gifts. What’s not to love? 🤗
OMG! OMG! Someone with the common sense to not put loud music over their video! Definate subscribe and like! THANK YOU MUCH APPRECIATED! You done great with the pouch!
I have made a few of these and one thing I found to save a bit of wear and tear is to use grommets for the closure lacing. The first one I ever made was out of scrap pig leather and I got it to hold $50 in quarters, nickels, and dimes. That one wore out after ten years of use. Good video for someone that is unsure as to how to make one.
Very nice leather coin pouch! One of my great grandfathers kept his coins in a similar pouch. He was born shortly after the Civil War, & I was privileged to live with him intermittently until his death in 1960. Thank you for a very clear and easy to understand presentation of this project. I was equally impressed with your innovation in using a common VISE as a "Stitching Pony!" Yesterday I found some genuine chamois (doe skin) on half price; so I plan to make a variety of pouches including a jewelry pouch for my wife & several different pouches to use with my 18th century living history gear! May God bless you & yours.
Old leather sofas can be a good source of soft leather. For thread length on thin leather, i roughly lay the thread round the edge, double it and add about another half length. Nice simple video.
I've done something similar before, but I didn't have leather, so I used duct tape and tissues. The tissue was used instead of that "back to back" duct tape method that I honestly couldn't really get right. I made a round disk for the bottom, and two peices that made the sides. I taped it all up, and folded over the edge, running shoelace though the folded over edge so it would close. It's not the prettiest thing ever, but it's held over $70 worth of small change and stayed together with no issue, so it was a success
Hi! I also tried this with help from the video. I am beginner in leathercraft and this was interesting project. The result is satisfactory. Many thanks to you!
I didn't have all the tools either but I did have a rather large ram lamb who had an appointment with my freezer. Now I have a very interesting leather pouch with no seems:)
@@MegaDavyk Interesting, now I see where my leather working process began! I forgot about this video. Must've been my first ever about the topic. Thanks for the reminder! :-)
To ease the curve you could cut tiny triangles in the seam allowancen pointing towards the stitch. Then the seam would lie flatter and fuller. The secret of these drawstring pouches is in how you thread the string. It's not just one up, one own. You have to do it symmetrical between right and left.
thank you. my niece would love this I'm gonna try and make one for her birthday and give her a bunch of coins in it too so she could have a little money. I don't have the same tools but I think I can still do it. I'm also gonna carve a T on the front for her. thank you
this a good tutorial. I am trying to make a pouch to hold coins from my game of thrones risk game. thing is i only have much thinner leather to work with.
Try it! i think you should be able to do it with thinner leather than what i used. Surf around the internet for a bit and see what information you can find. Good luck ;)
I made this of leather with thickness of 3 millimeters. Quite "heavy duty", I think. I am looking for thinner leather, since all leather I have are rather thick.
Add a belt loop on the back, engrave a spiffy royal shield emblem on the front, and you'll have a nice stylish and effective coin pouch that you can carry on your belt. great for ren fairs, larps and the like. :D
I love this video, here's why. It is very minimalistic, only showing what the viewer needs to see/hear. I don't know how many times I click on a video and get slapped in the face by a guy speaking rather loudly with annoying as hell music in the background. I like it.
Just bought a leathercraft kit and this looks like a great instructional guide, so thanks for that. Just got to ask, have you got a note of the dimensions etc for the template?
Hi there brilliant video. Inspired me to get my leather work from the box room. Just one question what make of fork punch are you using. I am looking on ebay/Amazon and I want to buy a sturdy one. Can you recommend please.
This is really cool! I've wanted to make a leather pouch like this but didn't know how to, so this really helped. Wish you could've at least put a little bit of music but this is still pretty good
Hi I love this style of pouches ever since I was a kid watching Robin Hood etc. I have a couple of questions, first what type of thread did you use and secondly why did you cut the leather into 2 pieces, would it not be possible to just fold in half like the template and stitch up both sides.
Very nice. Would the neck of the pouch have been more elongated to tuck up under a belt? Ive never figured upt how exactly these were worn. So few survive intact.
Have you tried using an awl? I've had a fair amount of success using a scratch awl to trace patterns without leaving marks that show up after as long as you use it to scribe your cut line.
I didn't have all the tools but I did have a rather large ram lamb who had an appointment with my freezer. Now I have a very interesting leather pouch with no seems:) I have planes for my bull calf next:)
Great video, I think that I have all the tools for this but what was that fork looking object that you used to make the holes for sewing through? Also, any idea where to go good leather? I've always wanted to make a good one of these like for change or for a renaissance fair.
Ghostly Gizzles that is a stitching punch. Look that up on ebay and you will find all sorts of different ones. I use the first ones that come up. As for buying leather, check on Google maps maybe if there are any leather shops close to where you live. They usually sell scrap pieces very cheaply in all shapes and sizes. Thank you!
I can't see how to put the string through the holes even when I slowed down the speed on the video. But other wise this video is ok and is helpful for people like me wanting to make a leather coin pouch as well. (Also update I found out how to do the string part)
I've been thinking about making a leather medicine pouch for my emergency oils and essences whilst travelling to wear. As there is always someone that requires some.
The perfect implement for dramatically throwing down on a table with the string loosened so all the coins spill out to make a point.
Or dice! :D
like in films

I appreciate that there isn't music. Makes it easier to relax and helps my migraines when there isn't music.
It's crazy how many people actually think this. I think craftspeople elsewhere could use this advice. It's like the art speaks for itself.
Thank you for not adding in some annoying music.
No problem.
Make N' Create fuck you for not adding annoying music
(Just a teasing. Don't take it too seriously)
With that hammering who needs an annoying music????

Great job on the pouch! I would purchase it At any mrkt or sale! Very well done, indeed!
👍The perfect Poker change pouch! I lost mine and everything in it in a 5-card-stud game, now I’ll have to make a new one like yours, ThankYou!

Good call! My roommate provided me a small pair of leather pants for scraps, and I have made mug straps using them. Good stuff 😎

Great video. It's simple and makes me want to give it a try.
Beautiful and simplistic design. Thank you.
I use bags like this all the time to pay personal debts to people. Damn do they get pissed counting quarters. Appreciate the custom!!!

this looks the way I feel while crafting during a caffeine high. (good video btw.)
I have never thought of using two needles to do stitching, that would work well when hand repairing clothes also.
The technique is called saddle stitching. Thanks for watching!
I instantly thought dice bag. When watching this.

I actually use a bag I made just like this for my dice! It's getting a little crowded though so I'm probably gonna be making a new one soon

The drawstring would work better if you folded the top over and stitched it into a "tunnel" with the string inside. Like the way they do hoodies.
