Guysss 😂I know it's V in the video, lol. V is literally my Bias. I mentioned Jungkook rolling because Jungkook is a fan of IU, but it's actually V who's in the video with her instead.
IU is a very unique singer and is known as a national treasure in South Korea.
She encountered financial difficulties in her family when she was a child, so she determined to become an "adult" who could support her own life earlier. Because she likes singing, she decided to be a singer. She hoped to connect the hearts between "I and YOU" through music with emotions, so she took the stage name "IU".
Originally, she wanted to be a traditional ballad singer when she debuted, but because too young, she did not gain much attention from the public in that time(when she is only 15).
Later, the entertainment company tried to package her as an idol singer and achieved great success (in the year she was 18). But when she became very popular with the public at the age of 21 with her beautiful appearance and cheerful personality, she decided to regain her original ambition and embark on a completely different path from ordinary Kpop......She remake songs more than 20-years-old, and re-introduced the popular culture of the previous generation to the younger generation, and received a very good response from public.
From then on, Koreans no longer viewed her as an idol with only a sweet image, but instead viewed her with respect as a real "artist of music" who contributed to popular culture.
In additional to her famous angelic voice just like moonlight, she is also known for her versatility and is an award-winning singer, music producer, lyricist, also a top-tier actress and model. She has many popular songs composed by herself.
Because she has held the belief that "love will eventually win" for many years, she wrote the lyrics and produce the project herself, and specially asked the film director she had collaborated with to film this MV.(The directer won the 2023 Blue Gragon Films Award of Korea)
V and IU have been friends for some time. They have chemistry. And the video was directed by an award winning Korean director. He won for Concrete Utopia .

IU is not deaf. She is in fact mute and that is important and on purpose. Here is the evidence that demonstrates beyond all doubt that she is mute and not deaf.
• When they stop on the path to catch their breath IU is the 1st to react to the sound of the cube passing overhead head.
• Inside the building as they are looking around at the scene before then IU and V both react at the exact same time to the sound of the cube above.
• IU is wearing a lip ring to show that it is her speech thatcus the issue. Note that when viewed through the len of the camcorder the lip ring is not present.
• During the Wedding scene IU has a microphone and is singing. This is more evidence that it is her speech not her hearing that's the issue, as in the alternate reality she can do once again what she use to love to do. If her hearing was the issue she would have done something to show that her hearing was OK in that reality. But there is nothing like that in the MV.
The reason why this is important is that IU has been dealing with an ear issue for a while. A condition in which the tube from the throat to the inner ear doesn't always close properly. This condition can cause discomfort and even pain. And when it remains open it is difficult to hear yourself speak or sing. Watch any live performance, on Palette or a recent concert and you will likely see her with the ear piece for her left ear hanging out. She does this when it is bothering her. She didn't want to be deaf in the MV because she didn't want any rumors or speculation started about her hearing getting worst.
Sign language is just as much needed for people with speech issues as it is with hearing maybe more depending on when the issue occurred.
The alternate reality scenes suggest that V's loss of sight and IU's loss of speech are related to relatively recent events. A person who loses their hearing later in life does not lose the ability to speak, though it is more difficult because you can hear yourself.
The storyline and message is about LOVE. If the Cube(s) were targeting disabled or marginalized people then where are all the "Normal" people? Where is the pile of wheelchairs, walkers, hearing aids, artificial limbs? Why are the cubes destroying the entire city. Were ALL the people in the restaurant disabled? They all disappeared in mid meal.
The cubes are in the end irrelevant to the story. IU in her letter posted on her site talking about the song and MV DOES NOT mention anything about disabled or marginalized people. She does say "I am telling a story about people who struggle to Love when the world gets in the way."
She also states that she is dedicating this song to her fans, because for reasons she doesn't understand have always been on her side.
Once you change the story from being about Love to one about disabled or marginalized groups you immediately divide people into one of those groups which changes the focus away from Love to one of accusation, finger pointing, remedies etc none of which have anything to do with the love between people. In fact, it is interesting that several reactors who have bought into that narrative continued their analysis by suggesting things like, the people in the restaurant representing people who had bullied IU and V and they were getting revenge on those people. Love has nothing to do with revenge.
It is also note worthy that some disabled people, who bought that story line then got upset at IU and V claiming they were mocking disabled people. Because in the alternate world of the camera lens IU and V were "normal" and were very happy. Making the suggestion among other things that disabled people can't be happy or aren't "normal". Which they found to be offensive.
But none of that is what the MV is about. How many times does IU say the word Love in the song? How many times does she refer to anything else?
It is about LOVE LOVE LOVE and nothing else.
And I think also about IU (and idols) relationship with fans (V character)…where even amidst jeering haters (in restaurant scene) - the idol is afraid to speak out…and even though idols aren’t perfect, fans look beyond the haters and see the best in the idol (both showing support and love for one another)

the message is how our world will never run out of hate, discrimination, injustice and violence, but if we continue to love each other (e.g. IU with Uaenas), our love will see us through to the end. Our love will keep us together until we fade away. 🥲So instead of being able to escape, they are fading together. Face what is scary with someone you trust and see things beautifully as long as you are with someone you love. This is Jieun's song for UAENAS 🥹 her fans. V is the representation of his fans. The cube is the representation of hatred or negative people who do not accept those who are different than them. In the mv there are many but they are alone. Hate will always be alone, although in great quantity, but love will always be accompanied and that is why it is stronger. Even though he often loses battles. V is blind in one eye because we fans don't see or know everything that happens with her, but she will be our guide and that's why she takes him by the hand all the time, guiding him along a safe path. She is mute because she is often criticized for how she thinks and only sings when she is with her fans. Since she can say and be whatever she wants with us. Because we are that safe place in each other. In the part where she sings, the audience makes fun of her and asks her to come down. This refers to her debut, since many fans of other idols insulted her and asked her to leave. She doesn't pay attention to them, she just concentrates on you. That also refers to when in the "good day" era IU only had one fan at a music show and she only concentrated and was encouraged by the love of that fan. Getting married is the symbolism of the union rings 💍 that IU and her fans wear. The first to see IU's beauty IS V (HER FANS) THEN IU. That tells us that she realized that there are beings equally hurt by life who can see their inner essence in a beautiful way. That's why she sees V in such a bright light.
