  • Quick progress update on the work I've been doing on the mini. I have repaired the boot floor, tubbed the arches and done the rear valance. I filmed as much as I could with the weather we had and I also didn't want to damage my camera when welding so sorry if there's not enough clips of the actual process.

    Great progress. I saw later on you had a bungee holding on your gas bottle. Maybe take a minute to build yourself a quick welding cart to hold your welder and gas bottle safely. Good luck with MOT hope it goes well.

      I was straight on Amazon and bought a cheap cart 😂 arrived yesterday, its abit cumbersome but it will keep my kit safer lol. Good spot with the bungee and thanks for the support dude 👍🏿

    Looking great Dave! I did cringe when I saw your gas bottle free standing. Definitely worth spending £30 on a trolley to hold your welder and the bottle. Love the ghetto tubbing scribe!

    Nice work, what's the purpose of tubing the arches is this to allow the car to sit lower?

    • @browndave3144
      @browndave3144  Před 5 lety +1

      Yh spot on m8 pretty much to run the car lower. In my case if I went too low it bang on that lip of the arch and burn into the tyre 😂

  • @CamJFN_YT
    @CamJFN_YT Před 5 lety +1

    How many mm did you actually cut away from the rear arch height wise ?

    • @browndave3144
      @browndave3144  Před 5 lety +1

      I'll check my cut offs tonight on the deepest bit but you cant just measure the same distance all the way round as it's an oval cut out you need to match the inner arch

    • @browndave3144
      @browndave3144  Před 5 lety +1

      Sorry for the late reply, it's about 40 to 45mm at the deepest point which is around 12 o'clock on the arch

    Did you remove the bumpstop in front?

    • @browndave3144
      @browndave3144  Před 4 lety

      Yh I don't run bum stop on the front because it was constantly sitting on them dude

    • @velocity800
      @velocity800 Před 4 lety

      Brown Dave i always wanted to run low and make my mini look slammed that’s why i cut my bump stop to half. I didn’t know we can remove them. What are the possible risk if i remove the bump stop? Will it not damage the ball joint???

    • @browndave3144
      @browndave3144  Před 4 lety

      @@velocity800 I've not ran bump stops for over 6 years 😂and nothing bad has happened. But I do have adjustable lower arms and tie bars and I do service the ball joints more then regular intervals just for piece of mind

  • @velocity800

    Hi what’s the purpose of tubbing??

    • @browndave3144
      @browndave3144  Před 4 lety

      Hey dude it's to allow extra travel when your mini is lower then standard. Normally on a non rubbed mini you'll notice the back wheels thudding in the rear arches when it's too low or in my case locking and skipping over any hard bumps 😂

      Yh my tutors used to moan at me saying I would get galvanic flu. I was terrible at listening to them though 😂😂😂
