Man, when I was a kid, I had this VHS with about 50 cartoons in it and this was one of them. One of my favs, that little cat boy is beyond cute (got diabetes all over again lol) and that bum's laugh has stuck with me up to this day... It's actually why I looked this up haha
Burt Gillett really laid on the cute with the little kitten. I loved the song he sang starting at 1:40 and 2:14 is REALLY cute. The cartoon is hardly brilliant but quite enjoyable. Granma is very well designed as is the hobo and the gags are good enough.
Jonathan Wilson Molly is one of my all time favorite characters and this is a good reason to watch that wonderful cartoon again. Yeah I guess I was dissing the Scotty a bit, but his clacking bark was kind of annoying. Granted he was loyal, loveable and well drawn too. And while on the subject of things left out, the kitten's Wish I Had a Dog song was very cute too. Cuteness is an art in itself, not to supply it, but not to overdo it. Gillett did it just right, which makes the toon.
gnikcohs Gillett used to work for Disney, so it's no surprise that many of his work at Van Beuren (_Toddle Tales_, _Rainbow Parade_, etc...) are really cute. He returned to Disney after the studio shut down & directed _Lonesome Ghosts_ & others....
If WickedBinge made a good-to-evil list on this cartoon, this is my prediction on how they'd be listed. Good Section 1. Scotty (Gold Medal Winner) 2. Kitten Boy (Silver Medal Winner) 3. Grandma (Bronze Medal Winner) Bad and Evil Section 1. The Homeless Man
Natalie Belton every since I brought in this cute little bulldog home my cat has never been the same, very playful and pleasant,.....the two have been inseparable 😉😊
Rule #Who the fuck cares: any cartoon animal that is anthropomorphic can act human in every since of the word no matter the disadvantages of said animal just look at Disney Mickey Mouse's "Gasp!"
This could’ve worked if this where human, instead of anthropomorphic animals, yet how this I think the grandmother too , week that got easily subdue . dumb homeless man , how he got defeated is even dumber too
I forgot this existed, I used to watch on VHS as a kid.
Van Bern's little kitties were the cutest by far.

Cartoon Hour"
Yep I had it growing up in the 2000s

The cat looks like a Louis Wain cat!

That's a very good & dedicated Scottish Terrier. (well drawn, too)
That hobo also appears as a butterfly catcher in _Molly Moo Cow & the Butterflies_.

The bulldog is greatly animated for 1935, in my opinion.

Randy Mo 😄👍👍Lol!
I forgot this existed, I used to watch on DVD only in Ukrainian, but I think this cartoon released in 1934? Or 1935 maybe.
Why would a cat want a dog? Cartoon logic.
Sometimes i simply don't ponder!

Natalie Belton You question a cat wanting a dog, but you don’t question a mouse owning a dog or an aardvark owning a dog.

Natalie Belton At least Gumball has a pet fish turned best friend named Darwin,in reality,Cats eat fish,But Gumball never eats Darwin.
