    5 Possible Side Effects of Probiotics
    Probiotics and gut health has been quite a popular topic within the nutrition world lately and has led to many different supplements on the market. Probiotics are strains of good bacteria that help improve our gut flora. There are many health benefits of probiotics that largely impact one's digestive health by reducing symptoms such as gas, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation, but there are other benefits as well. Everyone is different and there may be some negative effects of probiotics (specific ones) for some individuals. In this video, we'll go into depth on what possible symptoms may come from probiotic supplements, different types of probiotics, and we'll provide some of the best probiotic supplements that we believe are available.

    Well, I get backed up pretty easily and quite a lot. So, I decided to start taking probiotics to try and treat that.
    First few days were okay. Looked like the constipation was getting treated and I felt pretty good. Got a result every time I went to the bathroom lol.
    But then, after about a week or so... i don't know, it seemed like they stopped working?
    Granted, i do feel a bit of a difference. i feel a bit more energetic, and my tummy generally feels somewhat better I guess.
    But the constipation is still there, on top of that a lot of gas and bloating, the sciatica is more prevalent than usual...
    so... geez I'm not sure anymore.
    is more constipation another side effect? Cause right now I'm back to my trusted friend mr prune juice.
    i had hoped the probiotics would have done something, especially after those promising first few days.
    Maybe i should stop taking them.. or perhaps have more patience and continue? i honestly don't know what to do..

      @@OswaldDigestiveClinic Thank you for responding to my message. To be more clear I am taking Nature’s Way Fortify Daily Probiotic for Adults, 30 Billion Live Cultures, 10 Strains, Prebiotics and it has included the two you have mentioned. My concern is if Natures Way probiotics are really live probiotics. I found a video were the doctor explained in order to know the pills contains live bacteria, you have to open one and dissolved in milk in a plate. Let it sit over night and in the morning if you see the portion of milk that had contact with the probiotics looks like cheese then that probiotic is alive, but if not that means is not live bacteria. I did the test and unfortunately I didn’t see the milk turned solid like pieces of cheese. Maybe I see 2% fat milk and doesn’t work that way? Could you tell how can we make sure those probiotics are in fact alive?

      @@OswaldDigestiveClinicHi Oswald! Question. What is your thoughts on thr brand Align probiotic? I got the 24/7 digestive support. I tried a probiotic, i think culturelle or something like that abt 1.5 years ago. I discontinued after 4 days of use due to extreme diarrhea. I now see I shouldve gave it longer to adapt. From what i remember that was really my only symptom. Maybe some slight stomach cramps but they were a maybe a 2 on a 1-10 scale so they were no big deal. I suffer from constant constipation with a little bloating. I am in pretty good shape body wise. Maybe at 16% BF and i eat pretty healthy. I have other symptoms but not sure if they are result of my gut. I used to be a weekend binge drinker (alcohol) and would go all weekend without food, only booze. I am 12 months alcohol free or any substance free though. Never going back there. I say that abt my drinking issue to explain why I am taking probiotics. I think with the years of alcohol abuse screwed up my gut. Last time i took the probiotic i was peeing out my bumhole (TMI I know) like 3-4 times a day. I stay hydrated also. Anyways, I have done got off topic. Thoughts on the Align brand?

    • @OswaldDigestiveClinic
      @OswaldDigestiveClinic  Před rokem +1

      Yakult contains 9g of added sugars and natural flavors, these may be the reason for your bloating and sensation of feeling hungry. I would recommend and kefir product with no added sugars or natural flavorings. Begin with a small amount and work up to more as your body gets used to the flora provided in the kefir.

    You did not discuss one of the most important side effects: brain fog that develops slowly over the first week of taking the probiotic every day. There is a study by Satish Rao that suggests this effect may be due to Lactobacillus colonizing the small intestine and creating d-lactate, which is a form of lactate that the human body cannot metabolize and that acts as a neurotoxin.

    Western food is sterilised…we have less bacteria than say people in Africa….so at first…taking probiotics can cause diarrhoea and other digestion issues…as your body mounts a reaction against ‚new‘ bacteria …so you begin with little and build up…and your health provider knows very little or nothing about nutrition gut health…I speak from UK…

    • @OswaldDigestiveClinic
      @OswaldDigestiveClinic  Před rokem

      Thank you for commenting and sharing your thoughts! The body does indeed need to adapt to the new incoming bacteria from a probiotic, even in healthy guts. Symptoms may be more intense if a gut is unhealthy and likely there needs to be attention given to it before probiotics will be a good fit.
