- Rest in peace, Jan Kuehnemund. Her guitar solo in this performance is epic. Vixen never really got the credit they deserved. They were legit. This performance was recorded on February 19, 1991 in Cologne, Germany.
Jan Kuehnemund's solo here brought a tear to my eyes. Melancholy and mournful despair at first, then becoming pensive and introspective building to a crescendo of optimism. Only a virtuoso can bring emotion like that. She was criminally underrated as a guitarist even by her bandmates who booted her out of the band.
What a great guitarist, imagine what she could have been today. So sad R.I.P.
Feb 1991 to Feb 2021 - 30 years later it still kicks ass & is better than all modern music
They sounded VERY tight, not even a slight mistake. And no autotune!!

Not to speak ill of the dead, but Jan didn't sound too great here. Really stiff, some notes pulled out of tune, some stumble noise here and there. She was the least talented member of the band.
This is a real rock band.

R.I.P., queen Jan.....You are deeply missed. Such a beautiful and talented lady. Spent many days during my teenage years staring at photos of you onstage, guitar in hand, in Circus and Metal Edge magazines. Simply captivating....There will never be another.

Totally agree and I think the 20s will be it. Bigger hair. Make up looks similar. ALOT of bands are swingin the ballad sounds these days.
In order to bring it back into mainstream the real young ones got to do it. And unfortunately there are not a very large amount of young bands doing the glam metal thing. One can hope though!

I've played in bands with three different lady drummers before: same kick-a#@ attitude as the Vixen drummer! They were all great drummers too.
Always loved Vixen. Never got the opportunity to see them perform, but I live vicariously through vids like this!
they're still around they've got a few different members now Roxy is still on drums, Share is still on bass, Britt Lightning is on guitar now and Lorraine Lewis from Femme Fatale sings lead now

My friend just saw them playing on Fremont Street in Las Vegas last week! The drummer Roxy is the only original member. Lorraine Lewis from Femme Fatale is singing vocals now!

I first heard Vixen in 1989. They really rocked. I had their albums on tape. An era gone by. Just some history for all of u. Roxy was hitting the skins in the band Girlschool with her sister on guitar in1985 or 1986. Jan died in 2013 of cancer. I really loved them. Janet has the chops. If i cud turn back the clock......🤘🤘

Lead guitarist is the heart..without her they are not the same.she plays with soul....and the sound that comes from her amps is a much cleaner,poetic,harmonious, driving sound that has meaning and most of all it rocks ....the newer member 8s great,but her licks just don't have that sound set up.....maybe it was the sound technician or guitar tech,or the player,whoever was responsible for the sound from just the lead guitar as it comes from the amp,,,,,they deserve all the credit for the sound that was vixen.......bass,drums,and vocals were amazing as well,but the lead guitar sound stands alone and is easily identifiable as special....on another level,she has the most awsome guitars and guitar shapes and colors...the new player has got to have the ugliest worst looking guitars of any band I have ever seen...they are horrible to look at....l which I think hurts the band and her sound .......we can't separate what we see from what we hear......we are a animal designed that way by God or nature,with very few that can separate the 2 (audible/visual)......example;if we see a turd......it will never look like it might taste good...Vixen buy you band mate a 750$ rocking looking guitar at the nearest pawn shop or guitar center.......your image looking better instantly will pay for it 10 fold quickly enough.....
