  • So this week we removed a HUGE ROTTEN Conifer Tree That was putting the nearby house in danger, over 6ft at the base and over 90ft tall, we had our work cut out for us. We sent Garreth (our Tree Surgeon) up to tackle this beast and he did an astounding job. With Shots included from his head camera. Watch as he takes down the tree in sections and finishes off with an impressive fell at the end!

      I worked as a groundie for a company called treehab, I can honestly say that no surgeon or tree company would remove or fell a healthy tree. If the tree is rotten, has dieback, then a 90-foot tree with dieback then becomes a serious hazard especially if a strong gust of wind blows it over and demolishes a house, as I've seen 35 foot london plane with dieback be blown over and destroyed the double extension & roof on this house causing thousands of pounds of damage!!!

      We had a rather unruly Lellandii hedge at the bottom of our garden just the other side of the fence. It was deemed too unruly by the council so it was trimmed. We now have a 20 foot tall row of dead trees. I’m glad you’re happy with yours, maybe by the time ours has rotted into oblivion it will justify the council decision.

    Man rules the earth, the animals and trees don’t have a say. My grand father had a massive ponderosa pine in his yard. Big enough to be designated as a point on an aircraft compass. There was a very small air port about five miles away. The pilots could use the ponderosa as a guidance point into the landing and take off from the small area air port. His house was destroyed in one of the many earth quakes that plague the Southern California area. He was long gone when this earth quake hit the area. The city fathers ordered the tree demolished and hauled away. Their opinion was that the tree was over two hundred years old. It dropped pineapple sized pine cones every year.it took 10 dump trucks to haul away the debris . I was a youngster when it was demolished ,I’m 80 years old now.

    Greatjob guys! Sometimes a tree has to com e down for the safety of the people living nearby. During Hurricane Isabel in Eastern VA in 2003 many houses were cut in half(and a few people died) because the trees had gotten so large (100 ft plus!) we had taken down 14 of the 35 trees on our lot just 6 months before, and had no damage to our house or one neighbor. Two neighbors trees landed in our yard, but no house damage.

    Would a large tarp be an option to wrap around the tree on the ground and stick the two sides together? Obviously branches and logs falling will make some holes but at the end when you've got the logs and branches up, you could go around dealing with most of the cuttings/saw dust a bit easier?

    • @gorillagroundsandgardens
      @gorillagroundsandgardens  Před 7 měsíci +5

      That would work on a much smaller tree. There was about 8t of wood chip once we had finished chipping the branches + another estimated 10t of logs. No tarp would do that.

      Greatings from Germany. My English is not the best , but I try to write , what I think. You have done a great job. But this tree shoud never cut down in our country. It is not ill. The process of rottening in the middle is normal by a tree of this age. The stem is healthy and in a very good behaviour. Broken branches are a normal process of becoming older. There is no traffic, no electricity. Hauses are far away enough. In Germany we have a law called „Baumschutzsatzung“: Cutting of trees with more than 80cm Diameter at the height of 1 m is forbidden.“ Such a big tree is Home for hundreds of Bords, sqirrels, insects, and so on. It will need 400 new planted young trees to produce the same amount of oxygene (just read in a scientist Magazine) We need such old methusalems in our nature.

    thats aton of whittling, fall it in one piece , then use the miniskid to pull it apart after after cutting branches, when you have room .

      In this case the client wanted the lawn protected. Dismantling the tree was far less damaging than falling it would have been. It is difficult to see on the video but the tree also has a significant lean towards the house.

    Hey, is it possible for you to talk about why the tree was removed. It looked really healthy. Was there a special reason why it was cut down love from Canada
