One of the most underrated band ever in the metal scene. Doom metal at its best. Great band.

More Epic Heavy Metal than Doom... Nevertheless: underrated, fucking, underrated.

"New Dark Age" is their best album so far. I can't wait for the new album because it seems to become an epic masterpiece (at least if all songs are as great as the 3 songs on 'To Sol A Thane').

YES! (--- quote: ' "New Dark Age" is their best album so far') & one of my personal top5 of all times!
And yes... although I miss the vocals of Morris Ingram since NDA, the work of "Reich" Walker is that outstanding and Paul Kearns is getting better'n better meanwhile... The new full length will be the finest "big shit" released within the last 2 decades.

One of my top 5 favorite doom bands. Really hope they are able to put a new full length together.

    To sol a thane.
None so revered as the orchard keeper whilst his cargo sways heavily.
    See now, he's forgotten.
Like all the mute ones when bellies fill.
See now as I spit only contempt for you, and for all that weave only from second hand passions.
Mine is the heart that skips not a single beat for all your kind.
I am not your kin, I'm not your peer.
You that bear not a thought of your own making..
Ye in panic and ye in retreat, ye who sing laments of sufferings not yet born.
Your minds collected are unfit to engage even one of ours.
Ye who roar surrender in unison with yet even a whisper of carnage to be anointed.
The wolf with lamb's heart falls in shame.
Having died tasting no blood but his own, having died a coward.

Does anyone know the meaning of the title? I know what a Thane is, but whatever the word "sol" stands for still eludes me

    • @schwermetall666
      @schwermetall666 Před 4 lety

"Sol" means Sun in Latin, or by extension the Sun-God: "Sol Invictus" (The undefeated Sol)

i have never understood what went wrong with this band after lamentations; lost the plot. michael bay took over on vocals/direction?
to their credit, the next release following featured a focking manowar cover, lest there be no doubt.
