- I've done it again! Another DIY Recipe for yet another Tim Holtz Product. Make your own DIY Distress Resist Spray for less than $2.00 a bottle with ONE ingredient! So if you want to know how to use distress resist spray on a dime! Watch this video :)
*There is no exact recipe. As your bottles may be a different size and what you put in them may be different than what I used. Basically, put the Liquitex in a bottle, add mica, or a mica mixture (such as the ones I showed) to the desired amount. Add a little at a time until you achieve the desired amount of shimmer 😉

Never heard of it until I seen your video. Is the varnish diluted with water to make the resist spray?
I didn't like the distress resist spray. I HAD to have it, and I have had it for maybe 4 years. It didn't spray well, then it quit spraying.
Thanks to YOU, I added some gold mica powder to it. On a whim, I decided to add a few drops of gold reinker. I have most of the 1.9 ounces in the bottle, so 4 drops of pigment hasn't messed with the chemistry of it.

I have mica sprays now. I fully intend on refilling those bottles when I use them up. I really like the mica sprays, and thanks to you, they aren't precious! My diy won't be identical, but I think I will be quite happy.

Thanks for the wonderful DIY videos. Two tips...... First, use a sharpie to place a dot above the spray opening on the top of the spray pump. This way you can always position the spray towards the project and not towards you. Second, I keep a roll of Teflon plumber's tape in my craft area. I use this to wrap around the threads of alcohol-based liquids or any liquid that will evaporate. This helps seal the cap on the bottle. Just make sure you wrap the tape in the same direction as you twist on the cap (usually clockwise).

Unfortunately Stampin Up in the UK don’t not have anywhere near the same amount in their clearance as the US ( not sure about Canada ) . Never seem to get the bargains either . Love all your ideas and appreciate your honest reviews on items . Thank you for sharing x

I've used the distress resist with so so results. I picked it back up before my hand surgery and had so so results when I used it for foiling. After I can use my hand again, I am going to try some of your techniques.

Thanks to you I added some gold mica powder and liked it. I added a few drops of gold reinker and I LOVE this dimensional spatter!!! My bottle is more than half empty. A friend was ordering from Jerry's for a church activity and needed more for free shipping. I added the liquitex gloss varnish because I wanted more!!! I added other things too, and yes I will pay for them. I could not believe I wanted a bigger bottle!!!!!

@@_MyInkieFingers I use the Guardian Angel as per your recipe. I’ve had a problem with the SU spritzers in the past, now and again I think there’s a dodgy one! That said, when I give the spritzers a shake after the mica or shimmer etc settles, it goes frothy. It could well be the heat protector, who knows. I’ll try making one with a different heat protector and see what happens. BTW, I stayed up late last night to watch your live and then realised it’s 00.50 on the 5th Jan not Dec 😭
@@alibush6757 Interesting. I wonder what's going wrong. I never have an issue. But like you said it could be the spritzer. If you're trying to spray the gouache, be sure you have enough HPS to dilute or it will clog for sure. As for just using the mica, you should have no usses. Hmmm 🤔🤔🤔

Just wondering if you hold it upside down and spray to clear the nozzle when done using it if that would help? Did see Tim Holtz do this on one of his types of sprays

Are you referring to the item she shows at around 6:26 in the video? That's what she transfers to the dropper bottle.

I subscribed, and I don't even do paper crafts, just because you're a good teacher. I love watching some of the paper crafts, and would love doing them, someday. My son's girlfriend does journaling, and I have no idea what to buy her, when she tells me something. I am wondering, also, if you could help me, she would like a heat gun, and some kind of powders, to emboss her journals with, but I have no idea what she is talking about, with the powders. I am not even sure if you would know what I am talking about, but if you know what she means, could you help me out please? As for your daughter, might I suggest clicking this link (geni.us/rr9oJi) and searching for "Ranger Embossing Powders" I'm very fond of Ranger and would trust them to be a very good quality. Once you have done that and found a few colors you think your daughter might like type in "Heat Tool" There will be an American Crafts Moxy Zap Heat Tool (it's pink). I have that one on my Wishlist. It's an excellent tool and if I ever have to replace mine, that's what I'm getting. The other thing I suggest is Washi Tape. It's really trending in the journaling world. I've partnered with The Washi Tape Shop before and I can tell you it's excellent Washi Tape. You Can find their store here (geni.us/6oQ0) You may be just in time too as Scrapbook.com has free shipping right now and the Washi Shop has 10% off your first order and I also see a freebie with a $50 purchase. I would suggest picking out patterns that you think your daughter would like. You know her better than anyone lol. So I have a brand new bottle of Liquitex Professional Acrylic Medium tax professional acrylis professional acrylic medium Gel with a pink label. Can I use this? or do I need to go with the gloss varnish? I'm so new so rather ask then wasting it by mixing it. Thank you in advance for your support and patience with my ignorance.

I think you just pour the Liquitex into a spray bottle and add mica powders or whatever other powders/liquids you want to try.
Sorry. I lost my first recording of this video and had to do it again. I missed telling you that you just add mica or one of the 2 products I showed you in small amounts until you achieve the desired amount of shimmer. You can't really go wrong. 😉❤️
