I feel the same way. I like the Bert who is into talking about food and his hobbies. It’s when he starts talking about a political issue or topics on other comedians or controversy he begins to spin out and tries to either change the subject or starts talking vaguely. That gets annoying because he claims he is an honest guy but then gets all vague and weird on those types of topics.
He's the drunk uncle for me. Fun to be around occasionally but you become abruptly aware when you've spent too much time together.
Bert really makes me question my own judgment cause I don't agree with most of the criticism he gets

I love bert and a few other LA comics. This shows one big difference in LA vs NY comics. They fire off the cuff so much quicker and easier and half of the time bert misses them. There are without a doubt some quick witted LA comics but in that area NY comics have them beat 10-1.Seems like they value that skill more on the east coast or just have honed it better IMO.
Totally agree. I think, being from the north, that’s also just a big personality trait. I was born and raised in New England, left ab 10 yrs back and I’ve had many comments ab how fast I talk, ppl thinking I’m being snarky when I’m just kidding and giving them a hard time. Sarcastic remarks flying way over their head. That’s one of the biggest things I miss ab up north, the ppl tbh, say what they mean without dancing around it.

It's a defense mechanism. I'm from Columbus Ohio, the west side. It's pretty rough so as a kid you develop quick wit. If you can make people laugh or talk your way out of shit quick you're less likely to get jumped and robbed. Not 100%, but it helps lol

One thing I love about Bert is despite his mainstream uber success he still has a surprisingly underground attitude when it comes to promoting up and coming podcasts/comedy/content. He is often one of the first really big stars to do a podcast with up and comers.
